Good nose, more leathery on the palate, unfortunately going more into sulphury in the finish - not totally bad per se but perhaps just not my cup of tea

Cool Inchmurrin!!! Really Beautiful, Elegant, Soulful, Sheer pleasure, but it’s true until the aftertaste. Herbarium of fruits and berries, + a little salt, and my heart melted!) 23 22 21 22 88
Dark fruits, sherry wood, polished oak, cinnamon, chocolate, pepper but also cooked cabbage, sulphur, really not to my taste
I am a fan of the Loch Lomond expressions, and there was quite some anticipation for this one. And man, of you can call me a happy camper

A lot is going one, nicely complex without shouting. It does it right in my book, both a good sherry cask, and a well matured spirit. The fruit syrup which you pour over a Christmas pudding, with ripe fruit and a body of chocolate. |

[July 2023] Oops, again I am the first to write a review, hence there is no preoccupation to my taste buds (which is good). I really liked the latest editions of Loch Lomond distillery from IBs (independent bottlers), especially the peated Croftengea range - simply because these were all honest and no-BS drams of high quality. As a consequence, I have to try these two new Inchmurrin releases as well... ...which was not a bad idea. This Oloroso maturation is about perfect for modern standards, the wine used to season the cask was of an excellent old quality, the wood is appropriate which means it is neither too strong nor too weak, and the malt is flawless and suits perfectly into this delicious flavours mix. This is one of the best sherried malts I had over the course of the last two years, and according to my taste buds this is on eye-level with the best 25-year old Glendronach releases of the last decade (not kidding). Well done, both Loch Lomond distillery staff and Sansibar / DeinWhisky IBs! PS: A word of caution (after reading some other reviews): If you are looking for something "special" in your drams, what many modern whisky lovers obviously do, shy away from this bottling. There is nothing special about it, except it is a perfect non-BS modern sherry malt. I like such stuff much more than the designed "wet cask" sherry monsters or "dirty" profiles, but this is just the preference of my very own taste buds. [August 2023] I re-tasted this dram tonight after a selection of fine old drams (e.g., Glenfarclas 1965, Lochside 1966, Springbank 1967) and guess what - I still like this non-BS Inchmurrin a lot. Of course, it is not on eye-level with the afore-mentioned legends but it can stand the heat even in such a line-up. I fully confirm my old review and scores.

The colour is quite dark at tawny, and the nose offers a flawless modern sherry maturation that still leaves room for the malt aromas to enfold. Both are pretty delicate, and the wood is about right too (you know, I prefer the wood does not dominate the other flavours). After some oxidation (about twenty minutes) more spicy and herbal aromas join in which are a nice addition to the profile, and the balance of all three malt-wine-wood still is perfect. This is not a massive nose, but it is very enjoyable and it never gets boring (like the nose of most sherry monsters). |

The taste is dominated by the sherry at the first sip, but the malt manages to get back into the spotlight after some chewing. There are several layers which slowly peel the different flavours onto my taste buds, and all of them are delicious. For sure, this was a cask seasoned with high-quality sherry wine out of the solera system (the wine, not the cask - contrary to common believe casks used in a bodega's solera system are not capable of maturing whisky, as their wood has to be completely exhausted to not spoil the sherry). This truly is a perfect sherry maturation with all the flavours a sherry-whisky lover dreams of. Not a single flaw or imbalance that I can find, and the wood is perfect again (firm without dominating). Did I tell this dram is greatly chewable? It is, and it is a lot of fun to do so. |

The dram arrives warming and coating on my palate with some peppery moments which are perfect in the overall rather sweet setting. The finish is long, and adds more of these adorable dark chocolatey notes with spices. There are no distracting moments until the very end, this cask was bottled at the perfect time (usually, this is somewhere between 18 und 25 years for sherry maturations). Water releases more flavours both in the nose and on the palate, just the layers start to intermingle now. I like this dram both neat and reduced at different levels. |

Very tasty, but in the overall picture the aroma profile does not hit my nerve enough with regard to the 220 euros that I would have to spend for a large bottle. The sample was delicious and a nice experience, but enough.

This Loch Lomond offers a very good price-performance ratio, considering the 25 years at cask strength and the retail price of 210 euros. I think both sides get their money's worth here: the purists, who pay a lot of attention to the distillate, and the lovers of intense sherry casks.

90.5 The first nose surprises directly because the whisky still shows so much distillery character and region. Some people who buy by color might be disappointed. Light and dark sherry fruit with a very light note of tobacco herbs, herbal candy, raisins and some fruity tartaric acid in the background. It's all very harmonious, the barrel influence is not exaggerated but still recognizable and you can feel the herb-heavy Highland profile. With water, the whisky becomes fruitier and I like it very much. |

Starts again with a nice, slightly sweetened herbal candy, then a light brown leather note and the tartaric acid again only in the background. Here, too, it becomes fruitier with a drop or two of water and the light tartaric acid recedes into the background. |

90.5 The mouthfeel is really oily and a dark herbal candy lingers on the palate for a long time, in between there is a slight sweetness that fits in very well here. The light wood note is somewhat bitter on the finish. |
A great and very tasty bottling. The alcohol is well integrated and the sherry influence is harmonious and not too dominant.

Creamy, smooth with a great and restrained impression of the sherry wine. A slight spiciness is added. The alcohol is not noticeable at first and then gradually comes in while chewing. The late spiciness on the nose is then added to the taste with a later sip. |

Good inchmoorin. For lovers of sherry aging. Color - dark amber
The oloroso influence is more prominent on the nose and palate, while the expected fruity Inchmurrin character only really comes to the surface at the finish. A solid Inchmurrin, although both elements didn't synergise to a higher level for me.

Sherry in a dusty style: raisins, wet oak, a bit earthy and some flint stone. Shoe polish, vanilla cream, liquorice, some tobacco and incence. An interesting nose, very different from modern sherry bombs! |

Opens up with milk chocolate, some coffee, mandarins and turkish delight. Becomes more spicy with ginger, cardamom and herbal liqueur. It's rather dry with the flint stone of the nose now translating into a clear minerality and a touch of sulphur. |

The turkish delight returns fruity and almost waxy. Some nuts unfold, before a fruity, slightly bitter and hoppy flavour takes precedence above the sherry notes. Classic funky Inchmurrin! |

Really good sherry bottling, the oloroso sherry must have been of very high Quality! The only flaw i can find is the bitter drying aftertaste but since i am the only one noticing this, maybe i had a spoiled tasting glass ... as i opened a bottle, i will add more impressions While emptying it Now the bottle is nearly gone, i cannot keep the old Review. The emptier it got the weaker it tasted. I will reduce it to 89p
It just lacks a little personality. But is it serious? What he does, he does very well. Superbly balanced, you have to give him time because he is not immediately approachable, a little intellectual.
Yes, I am a big fan of Loch Lomond distillery; most expressions I tasted have been bourbon matured. This is one of my first sherry matured expressions, and a damn good one.

Many modern-day sherry matured whiskies completely hide the distillery profile. But this one is a rather old style whisky, where the sherry is well integrated. Immediately recognizable Loch Lomond (Inchmurrin) signature. The sweet and grassy flavors are there, combined with raisins and plums. It is a tad on the early and dirty side, which I pretty much like in here. What a start! |

Warm, thick, oily and full-bodied arrival. I watered this down since the abv looks to be too high. No worry though. Sticky sherry notes on the inner side of the mouth. Mild arrival of spices, greatly balanced with sweet and dark fruity notes. A bit nutty with hints of dark chocolate. |

At first a little dirty, but by this, I mean no sulphur. After a slight sharp alcoholic touch vanishes, it offers a chocolatey, vanilla profile with lots of different nuts an a slight "green" touch. All in all, that is quite nice, but also a kind of typical and interchangeable modern sherry profile. Besides, take your time and let the malt breathe for at least half an hour. You'll be rewarded. |
