So I saved this whisky for a Sunday morning, just to give it the due credit (why?) on my taste buds for a breakfast, and then something like that. To describe the nose as dignified would not do it justice, because it is simply boring. For me an almost frightening experience with a Longrow, especially with an edition of the Red series, whose editions I have always found very successful in recent years. Since the finish also leaves a lot to be desired, the good (only good, one should actually say) taste cannot have a significantly positive influence on the overall result. (To verify my taste buds, I poured myself another dram of the Longrow 11 2007/2019 Port Cask 57.8% (CA) shortly after this experience and can state to my reassurance that it is not my fault, because the Cadenhead's Longrow is his Still worth 90 points I gave him.)

Oh, what's that? Hardly any smoke, only very subtle sweetness that doesn't even tend towards red fruits - Longrow? Really now? Time in the glass doesn't help here either, because even after a while there is hardly anything except some leather and tobacco notes and a bit of blueberries. |

Here we have more of a Longrow Red, as we were used to: greasy smoke, red currants, blackberries, raspberries, seasoned with chervil and tarragon, plus leather and dried tobacco leaves, dry oak planks and later juicy sultanas and dried apricots. |

In the finish, which can just about be described as medium-long, dry and with tart, almost bitter herbs and spices. There is no longer a trace of the fruit, instead there is an emerging menthol note and a lot of dry wood. |

The aroma is very decent and almost indistinguishable from Springbank 15, but the taste is less smooth and a little rougher, which immediately becomes noticeable. As one of the commenters so well said, Springbank and Ledaig funk is very recognizable! If we compare Hellyers Road Pinot Noir finish, there are no common notes at all. But I felt the Pinot Noir well at Hellyers Road, but it was just a finish. 23 22 22 21

Tasted at 'The Roll' Great composition. As is so often the case, smoke and red wine barrels harmonize perfectly with each other

Surprisingly little smoke, more on the warm side, BBQ. Dominant sweet and juicy cherries. In addition more red fruits, dates. Carnations and something maritime appear after rolling again. The distillery character can only be guessed at in the Nade. barrel-heavy. It keeps getting cuter. Tropical fruits, melon and coconut meat, with freshly lit logs. vanilla and cocoa. After 15 minutes some sulfur is added. But very subtle. |

S 7 It's like eating a smoked ham appetiser. Very intriguing, but not like "drinking whisky", if that makes any sense at all. [78-82] Good buy when I've extra money to spend, most whisky stays within this band. N 26 - Seaside peat smoke - Meaty - Summer fruit is hidden behind the smoke - Some old leather - With water, a touch more citrusy came through P 25 - Very fruity, almost like confectionery sweetness - Moderately peated - Smoked streaky bacon - Chew it long enough, and the red fruit will return after the peat faded F 24 - Long finish - Smoked meat lingering - Fruity

Nose: It reminds me a lot of Bruichladdich after wine with the addition of sweet delicate smoke. Intense red fruits, pleasantly sour, red currant, strawberry, apricots, rotten fruit, sulfur, berries, oranges, sparkling wine, powdered orangeade, broken with caramel, honey, wax, spices. Incredible difference in aroma between the elephant and Bussówka. In the elephant very sour and fruity, and in Bussówka more sweet caramel, smoky and ash. 89.00 |

EYE/NOSE Is that a rosé wine? Well, what else can you expect from a 'Red'. Very chic, certainly looks like a lot of wine influence. Lots of freshness and vanilla sweetness on the nose. The special thing is that the aromas are very closely interwoven. I make a note of lemon curd for the fresh, lemony impressions. Such a really nice, heavy, sweet lemon cream. The alcohol is of course noticeable, but by no means unpleasant. Pushes but doesn't scratch. Instead, with some rest and concentration on the drink, it becomes flowery. Rose petals I would think. I perceive smoke in the nose as an accompanying rather than the main aroma, as I experience it more often with Longrow. A small wood fire in the distance and a touch of spicy smoked bacon. I don't have any sulfur here at first, but I do have earthy, moist Dunnage aromas. Not everything that looks dirty and 'edgy' has to be sulphurous. PALATE Our test sample is pleasantly strong and has a good afterglow. Smooth, full mouthfeel. Quite harmonious for a smoker. The same smoke is now more prominent on the palate and the malt is noticeably fruitier at the same time. Marinated plums from the grill. Dried cranberries, fully ripe red grapes, sweet heavy currant wine made from red and black berries. I am amazed at how the malt almost constantly keeps the great warmth in the mouth when you enjoy it. Typical Longrow. In the background I have smoked salt mixed with dark cocoa powder. FINISH/CONCLUSION long finish I note tobacco and some ash first. Sure, the smoke. Then the wine barrels prevail. First vinous-sweet, towards the end finally dry and mineral-calcareous, almost exemplary for a red wine storage. In the end, only the sweet-spicy smoke holds the fort, which meanwhile also transports a little iodine. Spices remain on the tongue, as well as tannic oak aromas and the lime of the wine. On the other hand, I am spared from unpleasant bitterness and sulfur influences until the end, the tongue seems uncoated. More notes and reviews on Facebook at: #Maltkanzlei.

I loved the previous edition, but I think this one is a bit disappointing. Although the nose is lovely, the palate and finish are too sweet at some points; the balance seems slightly off, making it too winey. Too bad, but unfortunately, this edition is not one for me.

Certainly full of personality, but especially in the late mouth and finish a touch of dirty grandpa. Don't regret the dram but certainly wouldn't need a bottle of this one - which btw is pretty low on peat for a Longrow. Not even a bottle for, say, 80 EUR, except maybe for swapping. You get my gist... to each their own. :-)

A very good bottling, a dynamic and enjoyable Red bottling. Oily peat and almost relentless grapes paired with a hint of caramel create a delightful profile. While the obvious sulfur and slight bitterness make this whisky a little less "approachable," it's a J&A Mitchell product after all; what's the chance of it being bad? Price-performance ratio: It was definitely better than RRP, but I'm sure it's not the Red bottling with the best price-performance ratio. Would I buy it again?: I wouldn't miss out on the RRP.

A slightly musty nose. Intense dirtiness and earthiness. Forest fruits like cassis and blackcurrant. Green and red grapes. Oily peat. Light caramel or toffee, like milk chocolate salted caramel Lindors. Billionaire's tart. Intense, almost burnt earthiness, perhaps charcoal. Slight pear in the background. A sweet nose. Backbone with vanilla and slight custardy, coconut notes from the first maturation in the background. Obvious cinnamon and white pepper. Perhaps poudre a colombo. There's intense sulfur, but it doesn't bother me personally. Toasty notes: beautifully toasted brioche. Slight lime zest. Very complex, very beautiful nose. |

A slight minerality and saltiness. Intense charcoal. A very subtle herbal note, like dried celery. Perhaps a hint of peach and nectarine. A truly enjoyable and full-bodied palate, but the nose seems a little more prominent. |

A long and quite intense finish. Charcoal and oily peat. Perhaps animal fat, like saucisson. Nice raisin notes. It almost creates an effect like pickled grapes, along with the saltiness. Very light caramel brittle. The wine influence is evident here as well. Very slight bitterness. There's nettle, but in a way that adds dynamism. It definitely doesn't leave any grape notes until the very end. The grape distillate creates a slightly anise-like effect on one side and a raki-like effect on the other, interestingly enough. Very good. |

At first, the smell of sulfur was very strong, but the aroma of longrow, such as cucumber and watermelon is rich after airing, and the flavor of the nuts/spices unique to red wine cask was dominant, the body was softer than thought, rich peat and smoke
Tasted at Sherry Butt, Paris, 04/22.
The third whisky in the advent calendar, a longrow with a pinot noir finish. Years ago I had the standard Longrow and found it rather boring; But this one is really nice with a great berry aroma, pleasant smoke and nice maritime notes. Of course, the prices that are called for the bottling do not go at all.

Funky, earthy, fruity, and peaty. Everything I wanted out of a Longrow Red. May never get to try another one with how rare/expensive they are, so glad the 2022 edition was as good as it was.
Not good at all, don't by this ????
Longrow Red has been one of my favorite series the 15 year old Pinot Noir currently is one of my favorite. The peat levels are very soft and elegant yet also packs a very wonderful Pinot Noir/Grape finish. The finish in this whisky is where it stands out the most. Very comfortable and delicious/viscous.
Nose: Tart cranberry notes lead the way, immediately followed by a smoky presence. The combination of malt acidity and layered aromas brings out a distinct sulfuric note. Hints of smoked bacon, sour plum, and a subtle mineral character add complexity. Palate: The entry is soft and pleasantly sweet, carrying the fresh, slightly tangy flavor of peak-season strawberries—not overly sweet but with a crisp, juicy vibrancy. Soon after, the gentle sweetness of fermented grape juice emerges. The mid-palate is rich with malty sweetness, while peat and sulfur deepen the structure beneath the bright fruit acidity. The layers unfold like a cranberry cheesecake with a charred cookie crust—an absolutely delightful interplay. The finish is surprisingly smooth and non-drying, with no overpowering woodiness. Instead, a creamy aroma lingers on top, gradually descending into a smoky, peat-laden “cloud,” leaving a beautifully balanced impression.
Great dram for wine lovers. Lots of hints of red wine, and not a lot of that peatiness I was expecting. Smooth, as you would expect from a mature longrow, and surprisingly a very delicate finish
Nose: dryer wine Taste: more peat forward than 13. Less red fruties, although they are still there. Mor flavours, chocolate, caramel., meat , mint Finish: sugar,
