Молодой, но собранный Caol Ila из бочек рефилл-хереса: барбекю-дым, соль, цитрус, лёгкая хересная сладость. Опытные хвалят баланс и удачный брак херес–торф; критики отмечают зелёную незрелость и местами слабоватую дымность.

В аромате холодный дым и барбекю, морская соль, йод, зелёные ноты молодости (яблоко, киви, крыжовник, зелёные веточки), поверх — сладость мёда, ваниль, цитрус, лесные ягоды, изюм и сдержанные хересные тона с пряностями (корица, гвоздика, кориандр). Во вкусе — сливочный старт, пряный копчёный окорок, копчёные тёмные ягоды и вишня, соль, чередующаяся со сладостью, зола и сажа, молочный шоколад, тоффе, дубовые пряности; хересное влияние чаще угадывается по зрелой фруктовой ноте, чем звучит в открытую. Послевкусие сухое, средней длины, с долгим холодным дымом, золой, тёмным шоколадом, пряностями и возвращающейся хересной сладостью. Опытные ревьюеры единодушно ценят округлость и баланс, нетипичные для столь молодого Caol Ila, и особенно удачное сочетание рефилл-хереса с островным дымом, отмечая землистость, пепел и солёность; расхождения у них минимальны (86–88). Скепсис идёт от менее авторитетных авторов: часть жалуется на «незрелость», жёсткую зелёную фруктовость с горелой резиной, тонкое тело и то, что дым местами слабоват для Caol Ila, а сладость (подслащённый чёрный чай, мармеладные ноты) кому-то кажется приторной и простоватой; цену не раз называют завышенной. Общий разброс оценок узкий (83–90) при плотном ядре около 86–88, что говорит о согласованно высокой, хотя и не восторженной оценке.

Sometimes you are unlucky with the very young Caol Ila and get a “green twig bottling”. Here the green twigs are only noticeable in the nose at the beginning, otherwise it delivers pretty well and you get what you can expect.
Нос 86 Cold smoke and some young twigs, indicating youthfulness. Green apple, kiwi, gooseberry. Some vanilla and honey, seasoned with cinnamon, coriander and allspice. With increasing standing it loses its youthful notes, red berries appear, grapes, leather.
Вкус 87 Very pleasant start with smoky spicy ham, warming. Smoked blackberries, wild berries and cherries. Even from the start, there was hardly any youth on the tongue, it looked ripe and ready. Dry wood, dry deciduous forest floor, milk chocolate, toffee. Here, too, a touch of vanilla, mild spices.
Финиш 86 Dry and medium length. The smoke note, which is now cold again, lasts for a long time, so that the forest berries and blackberries can leave a good finish. A few herbs, mildly spicy, generally very balanced.

Already set for its age but still lively, for a Caol Ila very calm and gentle but not without strength.
Нос 84 floral character, very creamy at the beginning, then sweetness spreads out together with the subtle tingling acidity of fresh citrus fruits with mineral accents, forest berries and raisins, honey and honeycombs plus pear jam, fine ash with subtly greasy components, caramel, clove and cocoa powder, spicy oak wood , Vanilla with a hint of banana, salt and soot and cinnamon, pumpkin puree and bread seasoned with rosemary

Нос 88 Gentle peat smoke, salt, iodine, but also full sherry tones. Gains in smoky notes, burnt nutshells, metal, truck tarpaulin. With water: Sherry tones, sweet, BBQ smoke, salt, smoldering smoke, meaty accents, chocolate and smoked fish.
Вкус 87 Salt, huge peat smoke, some juniper, musty but also metallic tones, sherry, leather and fleshy accents. With water: peat smoke, salt, huge sherry sweetness, smoky notes and truck tarpaulin.

A little bit of a typical Caol Ila, which has a lot of black tea. Sweetened black tea, almost suffocatingly sweet. A different kind of black tea to Lagavulin, but still tasty. Very good to drink.

Very round Caol Ila, which looks older than 9 years. Priced but ambitious.
Нос 88 Barbecue smoke, not too strong. Light fruits and red berries. Salty sea spray. Add some vanilla. Well rounded.
Вкус 87 Pleasantly creamy start. Slight tingling on the tongue. Peat smoke present, but again not too strong. Smoked ham. Fruity, alternating salt and sweetness, some lime.
Финиш 87 Cocoa and coffee, dark chocolate, medium length.

Significantly more smoke than in the 12-year-old Standard or the Distillers Edition, which I would clearly prefer both to this one. Looks extremely young to the nose and cannot be recognized as Caol Ila. But the alcohol is well integrated. Benefit from a splash of water and then become a little more elegant.

A chic, straightforward and very classic Caol Ila. Strong peat smoke, sweetish citrus fruits and the typical maritime impact. I would say a model boy in relation to this distillery. Very balanced and an 'easy drinking' candidate. Simple and tasty. Fits!

A beautifully balanced dram. Someone had a good hand in selecting the casks. It has a decent amount of aromas for its relatively young age, but it's still stormy. The price just seems a little too high to me. But it's still an experience. You can experiment well with a little water.
Нос 87 Pleasant mineral smoke. Fresh and maritime, salty beach meadow by the sea. Sweet vanilla. Fresh herbs. Then a few sherry notes and dried fruits come through.
Вкус 83 Smoke combines with sweet forest honey. Spices tingle on the tongue. Sweet black cherries and a little oak.
Финиш 86 Ashy smoke. Christmas spices, again very sweet. Subtle hints of bitter oak. Becomes a little drier, the sherry makes itself known again.
