I was at a blind tasting. A cloyingly sweet mix of Ramazzotti and cheap brandy with hints of rum. Anything but whisky, I thought to myself. The brandy simply couldn't do anything to counter the cask. My clear opinion: better than a Ramazzotti, but aromatically not really a whisky to me.
This is definitely divisive. Many will say that it's not even whisky anymore. Personally, I also think it's very close to the line. But it is an exceptional whisky that I personally like very much. It also tolerates water well, which naturally improves the price-performance ratio. I hadn't heard of Teerenpeli before. That will definitely change.

Phew, difficult to rate, an extreme, barrel-driven spirit, somewhat more harmonious with a few drops of water. Quite tasty, but not an everyday drink for me. There's no trace of distillery character to be found, at least not to me.
Tasted from a Glencairn glass. Tasted with and without added water! This tarry whisky is a bit difficult for me, as the PX is always present in the form of Maggi seasoning. The actual notes are hard to grasp. With the addition of water, however, it starts to become fun and invites you to play around. I wouldn't recommend this whisky to beginners unless you're completely into lovage and salt. ????

When poured into the glass, you immediately get a very intense scent of Maggi seasoning or lovage, followed by leather, raisins, dark plums, and a slightly salty, meaty flavor. With water, it becomes a bit more harmonious, and the sweetness comes more to the fore. The alcohol is barely noticeable. |

The Maggi seasoning is also evident on the palate, with some overripe plums, pickled raisins, and salted licorice. The leather is also still present. With the addition of a few splashes of water, the PX sweetness comes through more and everything seems more harmonious. |

I would describe the finish as medium-long, with the Maggi spice and saltiness once again coming to the fore. A certain sweetness emerges towards the end. |

Sticky in the nose Fresh rolling tobacco with the aroma of ripe cherries and a few herbs. Dark chocolate and nuts Raisins in a leather goods store Savory meat marinade / gravy There are hints of the distillery character, but the barrel already covers much of it. |

Liqueur-like Lots of cask, little distillery character... So if you know where it comes from, you can identify it, otherwise it's difficult. Distinct tobacco and cherry notes paired with dried fruit Red fruit gravy From fine cocoa to dark chocolate Raisins and leather |

Long The chocolate is layered with beautiful cherries. The finish is reminiscent of fine or handmade chocolate liqueurs (Mon Cherie in Lecker). The fresh tobacco remains Towards the end, the distillery character does become somewhat more apparent. Light roasted aromas In the end, dark chocolate lingers in the mouth forever. |
Opinions on this bottling are divided, judging by the reviews. It's a mixed bag, but I personally lean towards "top." Yes, it's true, this bottling is extremely sweet. The color, being uncolored, is quite striking. I enjoy this bottling because it's different from the usual.

Very sweet, like caramel, like the burnt sugar glaze of a crème brûlée. The alcohol is noticeable, but not burning, rather warming. |

Unique, malty, like a candy (Bavarian block malt). The flavor lingers in the mouth for 5 minutes after swallowing. The sweetness stimulates salivation. |
Soy sauce, Maggi herb, umami. When I read that, my curiosity was piqued. I've now ordered a sample.
What a stunnig malt. There is nothing left of any distillery character. It does not matter! 11 years px maturation - I got what I hoped for. Succulent raisins, umami, dates, chocolate, soy sauce, not too many tanins. Thick, oily, nectar! Colour: Old engine oil. Not too sweet. Reminded me a bit of the current Glenallachie 21. Batch 6, nust without the age. Best Teerepeli im my life by far (only had 4) Could not even tell it's not a Scotch.
An extraordinary taste experience! The prior maturation of this whisky, which lasted over 11 years, was approximately 35 years in a PX storage facility! This distillery is equipped with the smallest pot stills in the world and is designed to produce exceptionally high-quality spirits! Furthermore, the staff's expertise in cask selection is outstanding! I was tempted to include a large quantity of this rare distillate in my stock! Furthermore, I have definitely never been disappointed by a dram from this Finnish manufacturer!
Nose: Complex and demanding. Dark fruits, raisins, plum jam and dates from the PX sherry cask, along with cocoa, spices and a slightly bitter oak note. Even here, depth is evident instead of pleasing sweetness. Palate: Sophisticated and exciting. Sweet PX notes meet spice, dark chocolate, nuts, and dried fruit. The umami hints are particularly interesting: subtle soy sauce notes, broth, roasted nuts, and a savory, almost meaty depth that lends the whisky structure and gravitas. Not an easy sipper, but a dram that demands attention. Finish: Long, dry and spicy with a lingering sherry presence, oak, cocoa, and again subtle umami notes. Remains present for a long time and continues to develop. Conclusion: The sometimes negative reviews are incomprehensible. A successful, characterful whisky that boasts a multitude of flavor notes and demands a lot from the connoisseur. Not for everyday drinking, but highly recommended for a journey of discovery – especially for fans of complex, robust PX whiskies.
I find it shocking that this tar-flavored swill passes for whisky. Cough syrup would be a much more accurate description. If the word "cough syrup" makes your heart sing, then you've come to the right place. I find this bottling simply disgusting and completely over the top.
