This is almost the colour of white wine and being completely honest it is too watery for me, that is my first impression. It then gets really creamy with some decent white fruit notes. A session dram if ever there was one, light & fruity and gets better after your mouth gets used to the thinness.

Very inoffensive - almost too little depth of flavour.

Straw color. Slight oiliness.
Нос 79 Very delicate nose. Light sweetness. Vanilla, caramel, malt. Traces of fruit. Citrus and orchard fruits. Fresh. Green apples. Although everything was quite flat and remote.
Вкус 79 Very light and watery. Lots of salt. Vanilla. Orchard fruit, but salted. Green apples. There is a lot of oiliness.
Финиш 81 Salt. Minerality. Ash. Dust. Traces of smoke. Medium-long finish.

Very accessible card players’ whisky. Nothing earth shattering, but dangerously quaffable. Around 30 EUR.

Нос 75 Very gentle, needs some time. Nothing wrong.

Финиш 72 Very watery. Could profit a lot from 43% or 46% abv.

Everything used to be better… apparently not everything. Forget this bottle and buy a modern-day Campbeltown Loch, and you'll have a good whisky. Here… not so much.

It's definitely a blend that clearly shows a not-so-low single malt ratio. The grains in it also don't seem to have been used cheaply. Unlike those who criticize this whisky (considering it was rumored to have sold for €20 at one time), I don't find it a failure: the Springbank character is clearly present, it has a distinct personality, and it was dirt cheap back then! Yes, it could be said that it falls short of some newer Campbeltown loch blended malt (I want to emphasize that I didn't write Scotch) batches, but I don't think that indicates a failure of this bottling. It's quite good! Price-performance ratio: Good, Very good! (Estimated based on previous price), Good, Medium-low (Based on current price) Would I buy it again?: A whiskey worth buying without hesitation in the 20-40 Euro range!
Нос 84 There's a distinct Springbank funk; a light cheesy undertone and ash-infused tropical fruits; young mango and perhaps papaya. Plump bananas and apples, green grapes. Quite dirty; earthy undertones and old distillery funk blend into the Springbank funk. Surprising intensity on the nose. Over time, green plum and green apple notes also contribute to the fruitiness. Slightly yeasty notes open up with cheesiness, transitioning from a sourdough bread-like side to malty. Nice peppercorns and a slightly musty undertone. Very light dried bean in the background, almost like a bréty undertone. Maybe a little bay leaf. A hint of vanilla emerges over time. Maybe a hint of toasted bread. Perhaps the only criticism is that the tropicality disappears quite quickly. It exceeded my expectations; quite full-bodied, worthy of the Campbeltown name, a pleasant nose.
Вкус 82 The dilution is a bit jarring here, but the Campbeltown character never disappears. Pear, tangerine, young mango. The tropicality, the dirtiness, and the funk are a little more subdued, of course, but there's still that ash-covered fresh fruit side. Pineapple. A touch of fresh lemon zest. A doughy, yeasty undertone. The custard and soft vanilla brought by Grain are also noticeable. Maybe cooked apples and quinces. Yellow plums and a little apricot perhaps. A slight saltiness. A sweetness that's somewhere between medium-low and low. The earthiness is very much in the background. Not as complex as the nose, but quite decent!
Финиш 83 The doughy, yeasty quality is particularly noticeable here, with a slight maritime iodine note. A long-lasting grey peppercorn side. Green fruits are here again; bright green pear, green apple, and green plum. Almost a slightly synthetic pearness. Perhaps a bit of minerality and maritime. A fruity, gum-like finish. It could be said to have a slightly above-average intensity and an interestingly medium-long finish. Despite this, it has a slightly diluted, watery feel, and complexity remains clearly behind the nose. Good.

Review coming in mid- to late March 2026 on my blog. Conclusion: " A decent blend, but it suffers from comparison with the newer expressions. Still, a nice time machine moment to a more innocent time in Campbeltown whisky history."

Good whiskey, the region feels, the color is very pale straw, it is quite possible to get if the price does not bite.

Nose: Virtually nothing. Palate: Well that's not that bad, and easy to drink like many other blends. Finish: Relatively short. Conclusion: Unlike most blends that are better in nose but terrible in palate (in my opinion) this one is exactly the other way wrong. Interesting in this sense but overall no need to pay money for this.

Totally agree with robbert88! Buy the new blended malt at 46% instead. I wouldn’t pay more than €25 for this blended scotch whisky. If you’re looking for a whisky at 40%, go for the AnCnoc 12yo instead!
