Хересная выдержка старого Arran: медово-фруктовый профиль со сливами, цитрусами и пряностями, кремово-шоколадное послевкусие. Оценки высокие и согласованные (88–92), критика минимальна — местами короткое послевкусие.

В аромате — сдоба и панеттоне, вяленые фрукты (сливы всех видов, финики, изюм), персики и цитрусы (апельсин, грейпфрут), мёд, ваниль и мягкие выпечные пряности (мускатный орех, гвоздика), пудровые и восковые оттенки. Вкус насыщенный и маслянистый, при этом крепость не выпирает: засахаренные цитрусы, персик, слива, ананас, оттенок хересного ликёра, мёд, кожа, пряности и лёгкий дубовый оттенок. Послевкусие у большинства долгое и «взрывное» — кремовое, с шоколадно-кофейным мокко, какао, пралине и поджаренным грецким орехом, сладко-горькое с солёным и мятным нюансом. Опытные ревьюеры единодушно хвалят зрелость, округлость и баланс, особую «засахаренность» сухофруктов и цитрусов в меду, ставя 88–89; остальные оценки идут даже выше (90–92, отдельные 94 и 98), так что расхождение скорее в том, что менее опытные щедрее. Согласованность высокая, серьёзной критики нет: упоминается лишь необходимость дать напитку раскрыться и добавить каплю воды, лёгкая парфюмерность без воды, а также то, что у части дегустаторов послевкусие оказалось не очень длинным — в отличие от преобладающего мнения о долгом финале.

86-90 – Wow, really good one, need a bottle

Нос	86	Mixed fruitiness, but no clear line for its evaluation.
Вкус	90	Full and very appropriate strength. Alcohol not noticeable. Very stimulating
Финиш	88	Sugary sweet delicious finish. Long and strong.

The oldest bottling from this distillery for a taste pleasure; on the nose it is pastry, spicy with fine, powdery nutmeg, the barrel brings grapes and sweet dates; the palate on candied orange citrus fruits, on a sherry liqueur like sherry wine, slightly sweetened; honey, a sweet brioche bread like Panettone with cooked vanilla and pieces of candied fruit; mild cooking spices; the finish is creamy, velvety, on vanilla-coffee-chocolate mocha, on toasted crushed walnuts.

The nose is very round and balanced, between a suave and honeyed grain, and pulpy prunes in the background. Plums of all kinds, mirabelle plums, greengages, plums, very juicy, with malty and cereal highlights. Dried fruits, dates, grapes. Smooth, brioche on the palate, always very fruity, with discreet spices, nutmeg and cloves. Panettone, candied fruit cake. Almost vinous, syrupy, oily notes, blood orange, lime. Quite long finish, nicely explosive, chocolate mousse, cocoa powder, tinged with coffee, praline, hazelnut shortbread cookies. Нос	91	It needs a little time in the glass; a few drops of water will do it good. A truly beautiful nose. A touch of dried fruit (mostly light-colored fruits), peaches, citrus fruits (oranges), spices, baking spices (sweet vanilla), a hint of honey, subtle wood notes, herbs (a touch of mint). 90-91
Вкус	90	Slightly oily, warm, and pleasantly fruity and spicy. Oranges, plums, peaches, pineapple, a touch of honey. Slightly herbal and with a hint of wax. Without adding water, it's slightly perfumed. This is followed by spicy wood notes, a hint of leather, chocolate, and spices. Delicious! 90-91
Финиш	88	Slightly spicy and a little fruity. Sweet and bitter, with spices, woody notes, and hints of leather and wax. Finishes with a touch of malt and a hint of orange. 88-89

Нос	90	Fine, powdery. At once honeyed (acacia), saffron, fruity (grapefruit, peach) and floral (broom), the nose is remarkably full. Upon aeration, aromas of wax and rice pudding find a perfect harmony. The aromatic palette is radiant with maturity and freshness.
Вкус	91	Rich and complex. Rooty (gentian), rich (vanilla flan), spicy (ginger, cinnamon), and exotic (pineapple, banana), the attack on the palate gains height. Upon aeration, the flavor palette evokes a bucolic landscape of pastures, barley fields, and coniferous forests.
Финиш	90	Long and racy. A few cloves and nutmeg add a lot of energy to the finish. The aftertaste continues through smooth, malty notes before becoming increasingly vanilla, saline, and minty.

A very nice Arran, I really like it. It's sweet, light, and has a certain complexity.

Нос	89	The woody spices are quite prominent, along with peach, vanilla butter cake, and a touch of sweet orange with a hint of honey.
Вкус	91	Vanilla cream, sweet orange, peach, sweet apricot, woody spices, pepper, and a touch of herbs.
Финиш	91	Citrus, honey, slight waxiness and minerality, with almost no bitterness.

It just caught my attention. Although we had already drunk 6 whiskies and a sherry before, the Arran was convincing. Very tasty. I'm excited to try the other single casks!
