Barely open, a voluminous sherry scent rises, paired with plum compote. A first sip reinforces the impression. Wow, he moves in Strong onset, the aromas are spreading, it is believed that the mouth is not big enough. Now comes the oak, almost like marzipan, grapes, spices. Long, spicy, strong finish. Very nice drop!

Body: Medium, very firm and smooth.
Wow, that's a heck of a dram. It's quite dry and bitter, a bit too much to my liking actually. The nose is by far the best part.

Quite a simple and uncomplicated whisky for its age. This means that before it was also not very cool to make it in regular bottling. 22 21 20 20
During the 17 years of maturing, the whisky extra long to benefit from the exposure to the vessel so that the whisky itself as more mature leaves characteristics. A more focused and balanced spectrum of flavors is evident, while still pure, delicate taste of a 10 year old whisky conservation. Tasting Notes COLOUR: Amber gold, pure and clear NOSE: Warm and elegant. Cooked apples and fresh cherries Napoleon. BODY: Medium body, delicately sweet and malic acid, slightly spicy and tasty FINISH: Medium dry, long sweet. Overall nicely balanced

The nose is like a less extremely oaked Yamazaki 12. The wood tones are present but rounder and not very dominating. A liqueur-like smell, with spice (cardamom and allspice) with some plum or apricot skin, and toasted peanut. An impression of sun dried tomatos. Rich in taste with a good mix of cherry and oak. Surprisingly dry finish yet despite dryness the taste stays a satisfyingly long while.
S 7 Sample from a half-emptied bottle. Old-style Glengoyne still shows a nice interplay between American oak and Sherry wood but with a refreshing sourness in it. After tasting several Sherry casked whiskies from multiple distillerys bottled back in the old days, I started to believe that sour cherry/cranberry jam notes were once a popular trend. [78-82] I'll gladly welcome another dram. N 26 Sherry nose. A whiff of sour cherry. Wood spices (cinnamon, clove). Creamy toffee, vanilla, runny honey. P 26 Peppery and chilli at first. Then old wooden leathery furniture. Creamy sherry with Christmas spices. Mouthful of fresh malts. A touch of freshly sliced green apple. F23 Mid finish. Sherry and spices linger in a very enjoyable manner. A very decent winter dram.
Single dram note (Dramfest NZ 2012)
Ripe fruits maybe apples in the nose. A beautiful complexity in the mouth, really fullbodied, malty flavor with a background of dried fruits. The finish is long, complex with sweet and spicy feelings, very well done.
Great nose, sweet, tart, oak and spice in balance on the palate, fruity and dry on the finish

Sulphury and fruity aroma, lavender, figs, cinnamon, floral honey and vanilla. Vanilla sweet taste, banana, cardamom, mango and malt. Medium long, malty and spicy end.
Nose: Sweet aromatic sherry, can you say a full bodied smell? Raisins, chocolate pudding. Hint of citrus, some spices too. It's more wood driven but yet rather balanced. Taste: Sweet and sour right in balance. Some sherry, hint of oak and some tropical fruit syrup. There is a savoury note in here which is quite a characteristic for Glengoyne. Body: Medium Finish: medium. Some sherry, some oak some citrus. Price: Nowadays rather expensive as it is discontinued. But it used to be a rather bang for your buck. Presentation: Cork broke. For the rest it's nice and decent. Like the bottle.

The taste is a bit disappointing compared to the nose and the finish actually. But it’s not a bad whisky, just not very special.
Malty characters, lightness, easy to drink, not like sherry these days

I like the 12-year-old almost better. Slightly bitter taste and the finish is not the hit.

Great. The sweet fruitiness of the younger siblings combined with the long maturation period of 17 years and a (once) unbeatable price. Unfortunately not in the range anymore. Too bad.

Note from a Glengoyne tasting in the end of May 2006. All distillery bottlings. There was a side note scribbled down; This whisky gives me nothing, though it has a nice balance. Lineup was; 10 years old 15 years old Scottish Oak 17 years old 15 years old Duncans Choice (Cask 1204) 19 years old Ewans Choice (Cask 441)

Not that keen on this one. Tastes like it's trying to be a bourbon or something.
