The finish should have been able to turn out a bit longer, but otherwise: but, has its qualities, especially in the nose and at the beginning on the tongue.
The 'Red' stamp is less applicable to this one than all the previous bottlings, both in colour and in profile. A very different one in the range. Much softer and cleaner than the very first Cabernet Sauvignon version, a more 'modern' finish. In fact it's much closer to last year's malbec cask.
A decent dram where the whisky is well able to take the wine cask and unites seamlessly with it. There is a nice meaty/earthy note. Wel worth trying if you can get your hands on one.

The mouthfeel is pleasant as it is quite thick, the taste that shines through is a strong blackcurrant note, with undertones of glazed ham. The cask influence is obvious, but the spirit takes it well. A well balanced dram. |

[April, 2018] I had this dram during a FoSM club tasting. The colour is amontillad and the texture shows many small tears with slow legs. The nose offers balanced peaty-malty-winey profile that is not the most complex but for sure great to nose. I like it best out of all the drams we tasted tonight. The spirit arrives warming and nicely coating in the mouth with minor peppery moments (that are not distracting at all). The taste is rich and balanced and one to chew for minutes. The finish is rather long and adds more spices and a slight dryness to the impressions, not too bad! The malty flavours grow stronger to longer you chew the dram what provides a nice transition from the winey-sweet to the barley sugary sweet flavours while the peaty notes stay in balance. Water releases more aromas in the nose and on the palate, actually I like it best when reduced to about 46% abv. I liked the very first edition of the Longrow Red very much and it seems as if Springbank could keep this high quality consistent over the years. A great dram both to sip-enjoy and to explore...

Not been having anything from CT for a while, just happy to tried this. N- Hessian shacks filled with salted mixed nuts, thick, dusty with penetrating and blade-y heats. Boiled various of berries with leather underlay and get sorts of wet farm-y. Not wildly complex but well composed as always. (87/21) P- Subtle oak with spicy sweet come fore, well behave peat underlay, herb-y nuance balance with emerging berries. (89/22) F- Medium-long, drift of nutty almonds, warming bonfire, burnt caramel and spicy exhaust. Hoping for more chewiness. (87/21) Body/Balance- 87/21 Weighted Rate- 85pt — at The Whisky Bar, Kuala Lumpur.
Already solid, but by the Reds so far the weakest for me.

Close to 89, because it is really harmonious for the key data, but still exciting at the same time. You can only feel the longrow slightly, there are still notes of red fruits, spiciness and the dry red wine. Also in the finish nice, exciting and not too entertaining. Also good with water, but no longer as striking.

I haven't had one from this series yet. The heavily smoky ones are also not my world. So I started carefully and was then pleasantly surprised. Only one thing remains, the PLV is next to it. Sorry My very personal consideration.

This one is the least red in color and the best for it. I find it somewhat humorous how some rate the reddest reds highest. For me, that's like rating the highest PMM peated whiskies the highest. There is no correlation between being REALLY sweet or REALLY peaty and being REALLY GOOD, ha. The best bottles are always toned down a bit from these two extremes, thus allowing a greater complexity to be smelled, tasted and appreciated. Subtle notes often win the day in my estimation. The same goes for humans. Extreme humans almost invariably the least pleasant to be around . . . or if they are fun at first, the charm wears thin quickly. I find this to be especially true when it comes to girlfriends and spouses, whether they are mine or someone else's [raise eyebrow now].

Unfortunately, this filling of the Red series continues for me the negative trend of the series. I found the first 4 Reds very successful, with the Pinot Noir it was easy, with the Malbec clearly, and here at Cabernet Franc also downhill. You do not like the used Fassarten of the respective bottlings, but you can. What bothers me about this bottling is not the wine, it's the style. The quality of the finishes. I found in the first of the series (especially the port), that the maturing / finish interweave with the character and smoke of the Longrow and create a coherent overall picture to give the malt that extra something, so this is also this year Red (2018) no longer the case. The finish is separately next to the Longrow. It looks set and not harmonious. Or to put it another way: In my first speech, the motto was "1 + 1 = 3" in the first Reds, now rather "1 + 1 = 2" remains.

A tricky whisky, while its complex enough for a 11 year old whisky. The picture I get combining the nosing and taste profile, is:- After a hard work day, where engine oil, diesel splits all over the floor all the sweaty mechanics sits down and have a bottle of wine and there is that one that doesn't drink wine, enjoying his tea (rose). A nice chat and a drink to end their tiring and productive day. A whisky that gives me a good view~ Love it!
My first longrow. Very pleasant and round malt from Springbank. Could use a little more smoke in my opinion, but overall a very successful longrow!

First of all, I have to name the fruity dessert wine that always accompanies all the other smells. Then there is the typical spring bench character: dirt, soil, peat, cheese, farm and cinnamon. The intense smell is equally divided into spice, peaty smokiness and fruit notes. |

Another high intensity. The earthy smoke is almost no longer to be tasted. Spice, sweetness and the power of the whisky dominate. With cheese, cinnamon, farm and co. now comes a sweet note of sulfur. Wonderful. |

The finish in the individual notes does not really differ from the above. However, it continues the recognized flavors consistently and for a long period of time with a powerful intensity. |
