Quick hit review. Despite all its flaws (price & bottling strength), Yamazaki remains one of my favorite Japanese distilleries. The nose is dense and heavy with ripe plums, dark grapes and mint leaves, and I'm getting complex wood spices, baked apple and vanilla. Fruity and mildly peppery in the arrival, the palate evolves with oranges, guava and herbal notes, followed by nutmeg, ginger and more grapes. Light mouthfeel. Green tea, bitter lemon and hints of marzipan conclude the fresh and zesty finish. A lot of effort went into this single malt, and it shows. RATING: 4.0/5.0 stars ≙ 87 pts → FIRST-CLASS

Good, fruity, sweet as lemonade, whisky, with a wide range of aromatic associations.

Sweet, like brushing your teeth with baby bath gel. |
Reminds me a bit of the Balvenie Doublewood, just more fragrant, almost perfumed, and somehow even thinner on the palate despite the additional 3% ABV.

Starts with a surprising glue / varnish note, is that from the sherry casks? Nicely layered nose, you can feel that there's a variety of casks in the mix. Nutty and savory sherry, sweet and fruity bourbon, and floral / fragrant Japanese oak (would that be Mizunara or are there other varieties? Asking for a friend...). Laid back and unobtrusive, but with enough subtleties and depth to keep your interest. |

Mostly on the sour side of the flavor spectrum, with some forays into sweeter and spicier realms. An idea of woodsmoke hovers in the background. Very watery, though, which prevents a higher score. |

Short, mildly spicy, with some sherry and indeed a touch of smoke. |
Interesting nose, Mon Cherrie, Rum Raisin. In the mouth and finish is then over. There's not much more to come. 71-80 – Fine, like to drink by time

On the palate, the whisky delivers a creamy, smooth texture that coats the mouth . The initial fruitiness evolves into complex flavors of coconut, cranberry, and a touch of butter, interwoven with gentle oak spice and a hint of cinnamon . It is wonderfully balanced, allowing each element to shine without overpowering the others .

With the chocolaty mixture of nut and orange, it clearly prepares the 18-year-old Yamazaki. It may not have the same elegance, but despite a few blemishes, it is wonderful to drink. For the full review, go here: https://halbendrinks.de/2022/12/22/andere-insel-anderer-whisky/

Interesting notes of propolis in the aroma intrigue and pull you to start tasting as soon as possible! After taking the first sip, he was so carried away that he forgot to analyze, besides, he turned out to be quite greedy, since the nose was intriguing! 22 23 21 21

The malty flavor is clearly not worth the price.

The scent was so diverse and delicate that you wouldn't even think it had been aged for 12 years! Nice dram that was expected to be a CS version or a highly aged drink.

Peach, yellow peach, lemonade, bread, egg tart it has a very pleasant and bright scent without any alcoholic feeling. The sweet scent of stone fruits such as peaches and nectarines spreads. The slightly citrusy yet sweet scent reminds me of lemonade. Behind the bright and light fruitiness, there is a malty taste that feels like freshly baked bread, and it feels quite sweet, like an egg tart. Overall, it doesn't feel young and gives the impression that it's a well-made drink. |

Lemon, unripe peach, cucumber, red apple, plum, rye bread If you can feel the sweetness of a ripe peach in the scent, you can feel the sourness of a peach that needs to be ripened a little more in the taste. The citrusy base has a cool cucumber-like feel and a subtle sweetness like apple and plum. By the time you swallow it all, it has a heavy, malty taste like rye bread. It's very delicate, but the flavor isn't that deep, which is a bit disappointing. |

Actually a pretty tasty malt, but it gets weaker the more you try it. Not something I would buy at this price.

Starts fruity with a light hint of spices. Red apples, oranges, something exotic like pineapple and honeydew melon. Later on, a light sweetness of honey and vanilla comes along. In the background, sweetness again in the direction of brown sugar, fresh cookie dough, malt. |

More floral and less fruity on the palate. The nose was more intense. There is malt, camomile tea, muesli, grain. Apples and pineapple also come through slightly. This provides a nice contrast to the floral aromas. Honey and vanilla add sweetness. In the background, the spices from the nose, pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg, |

I chose this renowned Japanese whisky for my 70th lay review, which here in Brazil costs almost a minimum wage... Perhaps due to the high expectations created, it was one of my disappointments, falling into the expendable category due to its low cost-benefit ratio.

At first, typical sweet ex-bourbon, vanilla, unexpected spice, malt, some yellow flowers and a cooked citrus fruit. In the second layer, a different new wood, which must be the infamous Mizunara. With water it reduces the spiciness, the sweetness is maintained and opens up the Mizunara, a new wood, fresh and oily like dry pine. |
