Alright, it's bourbon time! Marker's Mark Red Wax is another classic bottling with a good portion of wheat in its mash bill. As expected, the nose is soft and intensely sweet with vanilla, fudge and a touch of sawdust. Simple but actually 'pleasant'. On the palate, the youthfulness of the spirit becomes more obvious. Corn syrup, honey and mild pepper are followed by alcohol and dry wood spices. Hints of popcorn and bitter almonds characterize the short and uneventful finish. An easy Kentucky straight bourbon which doesn't kill you if tried neat. RATING: 2.5/5.0 stars ≙ 74 pts → SUBPAR

Maker's Mark, 45% In the Airport Lounge. Let's see... The typical bourbon note, slightly sweet, but also strong, if you hold the nose too much. After a minute, the beautiful aroma is gone, only alcohol available. Strong in the mouth, but also pleasant. You can taste the barrel, the oak, spicy notes. He is not bad. But I'm not a big Bourbon fan ...
Dark amber color. There is a certain oilyness.

Good mix bourbon. Just OK.
On the nose, rough scent of grain and almond, then "sempiternelle" trio vanilla, cereals (softer!) And caramel! On the palate, strong alcoholic attack, then a woody side appears as well as undifferentiated spices! after, return of the pastry caramel. In the final, it's short and simple on the same scents! A bourbon more without major interest!
This is better than your average bourbon and thats it.
COLOUR: dark amber - good solid bourbon - has a slightly stronger character due to the 45% - very high proportion of wheat and no rye - quite pricey at around €20 - and recommended, although (due to the 45%) not directly suitable for beginners
Maybe an ideal introduction to the world of Bourbon and Tennessee ... [Color] amber;
An easy sipping bourbon, somewhat simple but very much enjoyable.

A very tasty and easy to drink bourbon. Great value for money.
Maker`s Mark maintain that they distil their bourbon to the lowest proof of any US whiskey distillery. This proffers a bourbon that retains a rich flavour. Developed by Bill Samuels Sr, he replaced rye with red winter wheat to reduce the burning sensation.

Repeat tasting for more than five years. Last time, Maker's Mark tasted 25th July 2010 for a second tasting of the Peat Brotherhood. Now I have the chance to try again by swapping Cyrus. I had a big sample from Cyra (thanks) and after a series of good US samples this is back in that bourbon misery. It is badly evaluated and even worse, it has something good in it, but it smells like a thinner, a bitter taste. Even before I noticed the thinner, we had more than 80 points on the paper. That was strange, in the first half of the sample I did not really notice this disturbing component, and the second two days later it slammed into my nose from the first moment ... I think more than thinner resembled polish and lacquer, which is more tolerable for me . Well, with this brand it's just hard ... At the same time, the varnish in the fragrance itself can be in a very pleasant position, as I have already met with better brands. Who did not drink, try and judge yourself. As always.
It's a great bourbon for drinking or for mixing aswell. Unfortunately it's the same price as the Wild Turkey 101 here in my country and it doesn't even come close in my opinion. Also waaaay to sweet for me. Gotta give a kudos to the style of the bottle and to the wax on top! Would have been much better if it came with a cork instead of a screwcap tho. :)

So this is not my type, I definitely would not say about this product that it's bad, it's nothing for me. The past tested bourbon Mellow Corn is, in my opinion, a better investment if you want to taste the taste of corn. Total vanilla and 45% strong alcohol component. But again, a little change. Drinks were pretty good.
Fine entry level bourbon. Value (£25) : 7/10
I'm not the biggest bourbon fan, but I like this one.
A good versatile bourbon with fresh sour notes to drink neat, with or without ice or use as a mixer. (Rating interval 79-82)
Makers Mark. An outrageously large (90ml or more) free pour (in both senses of that phrase) at Maggiano's, Denver, July 2022. They just poured until the tumbler glass was nearly half full. I didn’t take any detailed notes at this important social event. I had anticipated drinking a small amount of this and moving on to wine, but they poured me so much that I ended up sipping on this all evening (it not being the most drinkable neat pour). Sweet impression but rough-edged. Ethanol and spice combine on that finish to make it seem far stronger than it is. Hard to drink a pour of, let alone this size of a pour. It’s not bad as such just slow going and not really suited to being sipped neat in my view. Literally everyone else who ordered a pour had theirs on ice. Clearly that's the way to drink a whiskey like this. 3.0/72
No thanks. To harsh (taste). Nose okay.

A high-quality artisanal vanilla ice cream, creamy and scented, covered with homemade whipped cream then oriental pastries and sesame and rose-colored Turkish delight, violet petals and, finally, a refreshing spice stroke. A good nose, but unfortunately it's a bit rough from there on. the development is rather thin, and the flavours remain somewhat unpronounced and hidden, while the balance isn't all that well. it's said to be a 'beginners bourbon', but I think it's even a bit too harsh and nippy for that. Enjoyable, but not something I will fill up my cabinet with. 74- 75 points

Acetone and hard, it is better to refrain from purchasing
A very tasty bourbon with a nice, sweet and extremely soft nose. Surprisingly spicy in the mouth with the pepper note. Departure, unfortunately, rather meaningless. There are no rough edges. Therefore, I would even see it as a cozy drinking whiskey rather than a cocktail spirit. Because whether it prevails over the other ingredients? I see the Bulleit more suitable for this task.

The malt shines with a beautiful rich amber color in the glass. There is a hint of the glue note typical of Bourbon in the nose. But in no way as strong as with other bourbons. Right behind this note comes a caramel-like sweetness. The vanilla cream is also clearly present. A nice soft nose. The alcohol with 45% is not noticeable. |

A good, but not phenomenal Kentucky Bourbon
Nosing: Mild, fruity and fresh to light fruits, sweet to honey, floral herbs, virtually no adhesive note in the nose, yet unmistakably a bourbon Tasting: Sweet and fruity, slightly metallic, spicy and immature due to the young age, herbs with light peppermint, some spice With water: even lighter, fruity and tart, less sweet Comment: Beautiful whiskey, where the classic bourbon note is more in the background, so that the fruit flavors are more effective.

This is my first serious taste of bourbon, In my memories of drinking casually in the past (mostly Jim Beam and Jack Daniel's), I found American whiskey to be very stimulating and very sweet. The bottle I bought is the 200ml version sold by the supermarket, and the bottle has the same perfect red sealing wax. I really like the professional attitude of the distillery that emphasizes hand-made. Drinking temperature: 18°C Pour into glass for 15 minutes. The tasting notes are below. Very distinctive, but not very pleasing to me. I can't imagine an occasion where I specifically chose to drink this whiskey. But this bottle of whiskey should not be bad at all except that the alcohol taste is too stimulating, maybe it is just that I am not suitable for this bottle of whiskey. The taste score is 82, and the price does not affect the score.

Intense and sweet buttery bread aroma, with some cocoa, corn germ-like flavors, and a strong alcoholic kick. I have an impression of this buttery bread flavor, and some pot still Irish whiskeys with unmalted barley distilled have this flavor, but if the buttery bread flavor of that Irish whiskey is 1, this bottle is 5, and I personally like it very much. This taste. But unfortunately, this excellent nose is the peak of this whiskey, and then it will start to decline. |

There are good expectations in Nose, but the actual entrance is another matter. Not only was the taste not as strong as expected, but the strong alcohol pungency interfered with my palate. Although there are many complex flavors, some of them are uncomfortable. Butterscotch, corn, banana, caramel, cocoa, pepper, etc. make me comfortable. The things that make me uncomfortable are wet wood, old metal, fermented grains, and a peculiar sour taste...all of which are rare in Scotch and Irish whiskeys. Of course, all of the above flavors are accompanied by strong alcohol interference, which makes the overall unpleasant. |

I'm feeling a bit crazy today so I decided not to review Scotch. Let's go for a Bourbon: Maker's Mark Red Wax! Some information on the bottle: - Full name: Maker's Mark Red Wax - Category: Bourbon - Distilled by: Maker’s Mark Distillery Inc. - Bottled by: Distillery - Alcohol: 45% Tasting notes: Nose: Strong notes of Oak & Vanilla, dare I say some brown sugar as well. Some oranges in the background. Palate: Creamy on the palate and immediately quite sweet. I notice maize and dark caramel. Even some apple / pear. A very pleasant taste. Finish: A short, warm and sweet finish without much 'theatrics'. Overall rating: 71 Final thoughts: I picked this one up in Luxemburg expecting just an average bourbon, up in basic Jack Daniel's' street. But soon it became quite clear to me that this isn't something you'd mix with a soda. It is perfectly good and balanced on its own with a nice, sweet profile. This was my first venture into real bourbon and I will hold Maker's Mark in very high regards as 'she was my first' ????. And you never forget your first... I am holding Maker's Mark in very high regards, this is currently my favourite bourbon, altough it is not really complex. Nose: very sweet, vanilla, toffee, nuts, nail polish, apricot Taste: similar to nose with hints of oranges and cloves Finish: warm, woody, nutty, sweet
A typical starter bourbon however every time I come back to it it's almost like it becomes more and more distant to what I enjoy in a good Whiskey.
very good and enjoyable spirit
Maker's Mark Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey ABV 45% The intro is very pleasant, sweet nose, typical corn cookie sweetness, wood, apples and vanilla (quite intense) - a big plus for that then in the TASTE: initially consistent, sweetness, butter cookies, fruit, flowers, vanilla, but then (surprise) a slow transition into a completely different profile: pepperiness!! which stays with us in the FINISH And for this ending a big minus. My subjective rating: 73 I'd rather finish the bottle and not go back to it.
Good value, nice easy sipper, tasty caramel. A bit metallic, not a super clean taste
Une belle entrée dans l’univers du Bourbon, pas le meilleur, mais tout de même un choix excellent!
I'm gonna preface this by saying the current review score of roughly 77/100 is crazy low for this product. I imagine this is because Maker's Mark is a big entry point into the world of actually good whiskey for many people, which means a good portion of those actively enthusiastic enough about whiskey to publish ratings online will since have tasted many different, and often much more expensive whiskeys before and compare them side by side. That is a mistake in my opinion. The classic Maker's Mark is without a doubt the perfect choice for anyone who is interested in whiskey beyond the Jim Beams and Jack Daniels of the world. It may not hold up to the intricate flavors of your favorite bottles, but in terms of quality and experience it demolishes just about everything at or below it's price (that price being about 24€ for me, though I've seen it priced as high as 32€). I'd say if you can get it below 27ish € it's a good deal, above that it might be worth going for a sightly higher class bottle in the 30-40€ range instead. However, that is also a price range where many mediocre brands that hope to sell on premium marketing alone crowd, so if you don't know what to judge a higher quality whiskey on and don't have a high enough budget to taste through many of them it will still be a good choice. In total, choose this if you are the kind of person that wants to go from whiskey-cokes and cheap shots at the bar to quality cocktails and sipping drinks. Or if you already love quality whiskey and don't want to go back to the cheap stuff, but don't want to waste your favourite (and expensive) bottles on cocktails for your frienda.
