Oh boy, somebody must've been naughty throughout the year to get this as a Christmas present... Seriously, while this may not be really bad malt, it certainly is not what one would expect a Glenfarclas to be - hopefully not a sign of years to come. The casks must be at least 3rd or 4th fill as the "matured in Oloroso Sherry Casks" on the label sounds more like satire after you poured some of the light liquid into your glass. A young spirit of inferior quality than the normal 15 for the same price, and also inferior to every 105 I had thus far for that matter. If you concentrate very hard, you actually CAN spot one or the other sherry molecule in the finish, no joke but no solace, either. The choice of a brown colored bottle almost comes across like attempted fraud. GF should know that these things just won't fly in times of the internet. Given what you get, I could've understood a non-christmas malt version of this bottling (b/c christmas you associate with all those nice sherry flavors) in a clear bottle for about £26/€30.Mind you, 3 barrels were used and this was the best result/version they came up with (granted they cared in the first place). In lack of good sherry casks, they had better used active ex-bourbon barrels, it would have left more of an impact. But no, they needed to stay true to their sherry heritage - on the label... :-(

No whisky you want to have twice in a glass!

Bah, I do not remember ever having something so bad in the glass of Glenfarclas. Only hot and sweet, it is very quickly unpleasant bitter. From Oloroso Sherry is virtually nothing to feel. Completely immature and unbalanced. One is glad, if one finally loses the taste again.

Wonderful malt, slightly younger, because the bitterness is missing. Seems less old than the 15s, but much more impressive than the younger standards. But he has a complex fruitiness and a distinctive Christmas profile that you could call almost cheesy.

Dominant alcohol with smell and taste. Otherwise acceptable. The sherry is very well hidden. Long finish as positive rating.

REALLY nice Sherry Wood. Some limousine wood notes. Not the modern Sherry monster alla Glenallachie, but much more subtle, etheric. I ' d think it much older stuff, 30 years, aged in less active (as should), but splendid casks. It is white honey sweet on nose/taste, floral, light, but clean, no bitterness at all. It is is like a very, very good petit champagne cognac. I.m.h.o. it is really splendid stuff, and I am very happy to have some extra bottles. After today's snifter I give 90.
