Лёгкий, солодово-фруктовый молт-аперитив с мёдом, карамелью и яблоком; почти единодушный вердикт — необидный, но пресный и разбавленный, недостойный своей громкой этикетки.

В аромате — свежие и печёные яблоки, груша, переспелый банан, мёд, ваниль, карамель, тоффи и цитрусовая цедра, с ореховыми (миндаль, марципан) и лёгкими пряными нотами (перец, гвоздика, мускатный орех), у части дегустаторов — восковая, хлебная и чуть йодистая грань; нос называют самой удачной частью — деликатным, но многообещающим. Вкус маслянистый, но мягкий, лёгкий и водянистый: та же сладость (мёд, карамель, ваниль), немного цитруса и перца, у некоторых пробивается дубовая горчинка. Послевкусие короткое-среднее, тёплое, слегка перечное и ореховое, быстро угасающее. Хвалят за питкость и приятный нос, критикуют за разбавленность, слабость тела, отсутствие развития и завышенную цену за фактически стандартный Gold Reserve в нарядной бутылке.
Опытные и рядовые ревьюеры на удивление согласованы: основная масса оценок держится в диапазоне 76–84 с типовым вердиктом «необидно, но скучно», а расхождение сводится к хвосту недовольных (66–74), считающих его слишком молодым, водянистым и переоценённым; заметно более высоких оценок нет ни у кого, что подтверждает репутацию крепкого, но ничем не выдающегося повседневного молта.
I would not say it's bad - it's actually easy drinkable - it's just boring - it's the right thing if you don't feel like drinking real whisky

'Nose' is nice and promising, but body and finish are too much watered down, which makes it all too weak. This whisky certainly doesn't match the House Targaryen, at least not the strong woman Daenerys is ;-)

N- Caramelized honey with dark fruit, berries and bread-y, as well the heavily toasted cereal notes that breath with distant rubber and meaty nuance, quite gamey so to say. Apple/orange compote, cut grass, meadow and earthy, mineral swirling and all good, certainly well packed but just fading away rather quickly. (86/20) P- Smooth mouthfeel, nutty almond and spices, sweet clove with dry black tea, soothing. (85/19) F- Shot-medium, peppery, tea-ish, direct and comfortable dram with notable nuttiness for some depth. Dry with hints of rubbery meatiness lingers on. Dragonstone The Cardhu Gold Reserve was launched in 2014. I had the privilege of being invited to the release event in Brussel, but to be honest found it to be nothing more than a delicate aperitif style malt. The composition for this Games of Thrones release has not been altered, so it’s the same liquid in another bottle with a fancy label (and a higher price tag). Very timid on the nose. A fruit salad of red apples and soft pears, sugared orange peel and toffee. Some nuts – make that marzipan – and potpourri. Butterscotch candy and a big floral note. Candy-sweet. Very soft on the palate, even a bit weak. Citrus peel, caramel, a touch of pepper, menthol and a hint of cinnamon. Cedar wood? Cocoa? All very soft and little outspoken. The finish, which is medium long with a soft peppery note, offers apples and almonds at the death. Surely Daenerys deserved a more feisty dram than this middle-of-the-road whisky?

- unfortunately one of the worse GoT bottlings - hardly any difference to the "normal" gold reserve detectable - does not quite come close to the standard Cardhu 12 years - Much too expensive at originally around 50 € - since there is no longer any demand, price drops approx. € 35 on offer - nice packaging, but qualitatively prefer the special Buying Cask Reserve gives you more for your money

In my opinion, this whisky smells better than it tastes. While the aroma is quite pleasant, delicate and quite expressive, the taste destroys it all, because it is flat, bland and too bland. Finish without fireworks, too bitter, although in the very end the honey flavor saves by 1 point. I like Cardhu, but this version is unfortunately not well polished in my opinion.

Anticipation GoT - today Cardhu Gold Reserve - House Targaryen After a convincing shadowwolf (Dalwhinnie - House Stark), the dragon is in the glass today. Nose: like to give some time here, at first only a little unripe, sour pear and sweetness like fondant, light spice, after 20 minutes join apples, orange peel, a little artificial berry and marzipan - he is not terribly exciting - but not one-dimensional Taste: 'Dracaris' - Surprisingly strong start - acid and spice fight for the first presence - the dry spice prevails, pepper - behind it it gets sweeter - some caramel, nut and chocolate. Especially the second sip is much softer and creamier and reflects less buzz. Finish: At the lower end of medium-long, oak spiciness and surprisingly nutty, some pepper is left, but everything quickly veeblassend All in all a good match for the House Targaryen - behind the sweet facade of Danearis blazing the fire, which also quickly fades away. As a stand-alone malt for me rather an uncomplicated all-day dram. In total 79/100 points. The PLV is purely ambitious for the sensors in my opinion.
Uncomplicated light whisky with an emphasis on the malt component.

A rock solid, albeit very unspectacular dram. You can't go wrong here, but you are also far from a must-drink.

Vanilla sweet, and smooth... but as my friend said "Its just all the way smooth, nothing else.."
Very tasty stuff! Easily something that can be drank every day, either by itself neat or in a cocktail. Pairs seamlessly with Drambuie... Not surprising that this is so popular, especially among those with a sweet tooth. I found it quite enjoyable and even its own way this is something fascinating, which certainly makes me want to try the 12-year old.

The Cardhu House Targaryen is part of the "Games of Thrones single malt scotch collection". This collection is an ode to the eighth and final season of the "Game of Thrones" series. The collection includes eight malts, each representing one of the iconic houses of Westeros and the Night's Watch. This whisky represents the House Targaryen. The Cardhu Gold Reserve Game of Thrones has a rich flavor profile. The color is deep gold.
Definitely too much money for what is on offer here. Unfortunately, this Cardhu is not a dram of the appropriate quality either - more of a collectible for GoT fans. It is not a bad whisky - you drink it and that's it. They could have delivered more, but they obviously didn't want to.

A very easy going drinking malt - a typical easy drinking probably young Speysider with some rather unusual descreet smoke undertones

Nose: Very subtle all together. Caramel. Spiced fruit. Honey. Oak. Buttered biscuit. Palate: Oak coming on stronger. Slight alcohol burn giving a little kick but it’s quickly diminished with a lovely honey flavor. Some chocolate notes peeking through. Faint taste of brownie batter. Finish: Brief. Some heat. Smooth. Overall Score: 78. Not a mind blower but a good dram to be sure. What it lacks in excitement it makes up for in drinkability. I certainly wouldn’t turn it down but it’s certainly the one I’ve enjoyed the least out of the GoT collection.
