В аромате преобладают сладкий херес, тоффи и мёд по свежему хлебу, спелые фрукты, изюм, кожа, орехи и лёгкая землистость; часто отмечают, что напитку нужно время в бокале, чтобы раскрыться. Во вкусе — сухая, но сладкая фруктовость, орехи, молочный и тёмный шоколад, дубовая пряность и мягкая горчинка; тело тонковатое для сорта, крепость воспринимается низкой, из-за чего всё звучит приглушённо. Послевкусие в лучшем случае средней длины, сухое, с дубовой горечью и пряностью, у части дегустаторов быстро угасает, оставляя лишь горечь и металлические ноты. Многих хвалят за питкость, насыщенность и удачный купаж бочек разных десятилетий, воспринимая напиток как десертный «для неспешного глотка».
Расхождения заметные: часть авторов ловит резиновые, серные и обугленные тона (спички, серу, жжёное масло), считая их браком и молодостью спирита, вплоть до резко негативных отзывов о завышенной цене и «пустом дубе без хереса». Опытные ревьюеры сходятся ближе к 82–87, называя это нетипичным, но добротным хересным Glenfarclas без указания возраста с хорошо подобранными бочками; при этом единодушно указывают, что за те же деньги есть виски лучше. Общий разброс — от 64 (слепая дегустация) и 74 до 88, но основная масса плотно держится в диапазоне 82–85, так что согласованность средняя: профиль воспринимается одинаково, а вот оценка серных нот и соотношения цена/качество разводит мнения.
A light and flavoursome whisky but there is better whisky available for the same price.

The whisky may not be very old, but it is a very decent highlander / gravy from the sherry butt. Not spectacular, but not boring either.
"The £511.19s.0d Family Reserve, a non-chill filtered bottling at 43%, is a vatting of predominantly first fill sherry butts which proudly embodies the distillery’s sherry profile, bringing together all the character of this great spirit across the generations. Sweet and rich sherry, like a toffee syrup over a freshly toasted French baguette, the nose promises fresh fruit smothered in heather honey, ending almost like a sweet port. Then a dry yet sweet taste, a lovely balance of fruit, light nuttiness and milk chocolate develop, followed by a very palatable long and easy finish. An untypical Glenfarclas. Although he has many numbers in his name, a NAS - but a very good one.
Many kind regards to Matthew who greeted and treated us beyond expectation, with three treats at the rather fine [Glenfarclas] distillery lounge bar. Logically, we started with the NAS. N: Rubber char, just like that Muscatel Tomatin [another story for another time] T: Char F: Char and more char C: Thought id had this before, have now. Next up, a vintage single sherry cask WB. Scores a C
N- Camouflage by mist of rubber and burn butter with sharp notes initially. But comes good with flavoursome combination of rich fruits, nutmeg and almond. Alluring fortified wine notes expression. P- Rush of flavours, firm strength, fresh nutmeg with welcoming bitter chocolate develop over times. F- Medium, plum sweet finish with evolving leather coat. — at The Whisky Bar, Kuala Lumpur.

Starts out pretty good. Unfortunate Development imho.

The color in the glass and the nose whet the appetite for more. The taste of Glenfarclas disappointed me. Hardly any fruit, only bitter wood. The sherry hardly appears. For me one of the most disappointed Glenfarclas I ever had in the glass.

Part of a Glenfarclas tasting... Not sure what Glenfarclas were thinking here, to be honest. It’s young with quite a lot of sulphur, no age statement and 43 abv. It’s supposed to commemorate buying the distillery for £511 and 19 shillings, but who cares? This is crap anyway you slice it.

The nose knows how to please with its changing impressions, on the palate the drop is reasonable, but too weak for me in the finish. It's good to drink, but doesn't stay in the memory for too long.

Nose: Sweet cherry, some sherry notes and some off-note. That smell I cannot describe, but yet when I read French bread I understand what they mean. But I don't like it. It's also in Glenrothes bottlings. Hence some vanilla and oak. Taste: Oooomph. Sweet, silky, sour, little peppery, Quit nice! Hard candy sweets. hint of anta-flu. Body: Medium, it's thinner as most bottles Finish: Medium sweet vanilla, sherry some oak, but spirit driven. Price: just a bit over the top. There is a bit of young whisky in it i suppose Presentation: Well for a commemorative bottling quite nice. Like the loose leavlet inside.

A pleasant Glenfarclas but not to round and balanced. Concerning price/performance ratio: 6/10
Not convincing for the price called. There is better from Glenfarclas.

This is some serious dessert. The strength seems really low, so everything comes across as quite mild. Despite that though, this dram is very rich and chewy. Awesome luscious fruit and honey notes. The mouthfeel is decent for the proof too. All in all, a nice dram to sit back and relax with, a "sipper" you might say. Nose: Sweet and chewy. Plenty of fruit: strawberry tarts, apricot jam, muscat grapes, dried mango, orange, and dates. Oh, those strawberry yogurt hard candies. Toffee, beeswax, nougat, French toast, and milk chocolate. Spice notes of clove, star anise, and eventually cedar. Slightly earthy underneath, almost smoky. New suede shoes and lavender. Palate: Medium texture. Gentle arrival, with brown sugar, orange peel, cherries, and honey. Soft oak and leather on the development, with sweet candied orange peels, peach cobbler, rainbow sherbet, and honey. Lightly earthy in the middle, with dunnage, toasted sesame oil, and roasted nuts. Finish: Sweet and sticky. The fresh orange turns into slightly bitter-er orange marmalade. Pineapple, ginger, and rosewater. More star anise, caramel, and chocolate. The slightest hint of sulfur.
A very fine Glenfarclas that is more voluminous and older than expected due to age (NAS) and alcohol volume percentages. These were obviously very well selected barrels. An all-round fine sherry malt.
