В аромате преобладает мягкая сладость — мёд, ваниль, спелые жёлтые и оранжевые фрукты (персики, груши, яблоки, цитрусы), с цветочными, травянисто-восковыми оттенками, вереском и лёгкими пряностями (белый перец, корица); опытные отмечают кристально-лимонную, восковую и благородно-сливочную сторону с намёком на дымок. Во вкусе — сладость мёда и ванили, спелые фрукты, сливочно-маслянистая, но лёгкая текстура, солоноватость, минеральность и морская нотка, дубовая пряность; послевкусие короткое-среднее, солоновато-пряное с орехами, а у части дегустаторов — с неприятной дубовой горечью, какао и кофе. Хвалят за мягкость, питкость, приморское обаяние и удачное соотношение цена/качество для своего времени. Опытные ревьюеры в целом благосклоннее и выделяют деликатную солёность финиша и лёгкую элегантность, хотя даже они называют профиль одномерным и предпочитают 16-летний. Основная масса оценок кучкуется в диапазоне 77–85, но критика заметна: виски упрекают в водянистости, простоватости, слабой выраженности, плохо интегрированном спирте при 40% и слишком быстром угасании; отдельные низкие оценки (63, 68) отмечают плоскость и картонное послевкусие. Оценки согласованны и умеренно-положительны, а сквозной мотив — сожаление, что достойный, пусть и несложный, предшественник уступил место менее убедительному 16-летнему.

I like the fruit in these older bottles just a little one dimensional, I much prefer the 16 year. Still worth getting if you can find it for the right price.

This was my first Scapa ever. I like it very much because of the soft saltiness it has in the finish. Sad that this whisky has been replaced by the less enjoyable 16 year old.

Dark golden colour. Slightly oily whisky.
Нос 83 Pretty sweet. Honey at first. Then lots of ripe fruit. Yellow and orange. Peaches in honey. Then comes the vanilla. A bit of spice after a while. Cinnamon. Vanilla pudding. A pinch of white pepper. Ripe red apples. The nose is not super complicated, but very pleasant.
Вкус 80 Sweetness. Honey. There is also a lot of bitterness. Oak barrel. A pinch of spices. Black pepper. Vanilla. Traces of yellow fruit, but less than on the tongue. Peaches. The structure is not too oily. On the second sip there is salt, some minerality and heather.
Финиш 77 Sweet at the beginning. Vanilla. Caramel. Then spices. Black pepper. Then bitterness. Oak barrel. Some cocoa. Maybe some black coffee. However, most of the bitterness (not very pleasant) is reminiscent of an oak barrel. Minimal traces of yellow fruit underneath. The finish is medium-short and not very pleasant.

I seem to have been mistaken in keeping my expectations low, for this was rather good. Typical aperitif dram.

- good former standard malt - was and is quite good - but even if it is from old times, it remains a rather less complex single malt - tends to be rather disappointing for 14 years. - at the time maybe 40€ ok, currently not worth the prices

The predecessor of the current 16-year-old, simple, it is possible to say primitive, watery and weakly expressive. Boring, 16-year-old came out much more interesting.

Somewhat one-dimensional, especially disturbing is the poorly integrated alcohol and that at only 40%. Not mine.

Unsure how much of scapa ends up in blends, but it totally makes sense. Very inoffensive, soft and coastal malt with soft charm. Would work very well in a blend. Needs higher abv to shine though.

Fresh fruity floral with notes of wood, the finish is slightly spicy herb, however, retains the sweet notes from the beginning. Mild and pleasant to drink, honey and wood and a nice smoke in the background.

Colour: gold Nose: sweet, muffins, citrus, apples, plums, caramel, pears and sweet fruits. Mouth: sweet, citrus, oak, pepper, spices and pears. Finish: middle, spices, oak, vanilla, citrus and grass. Scapa 14 YO is a good balanced, smooth and tasty whisky.

Nose: Papaya, hints of alcohol and smoke, a bit flowery, slightly salty seabreeze Mouth: slight sweet, flowery, mild Finish: medium long, mild, again a bit flowery Comments: This one is rather subtle all around, but I really enjoy it. Very smooth all around and a nice nose. This was a sample I tasted from but I wouldn`t mind buying a whole bottle. Also I believe the 14yo is discontinued and replaced by the 16yo...

A cool summer day after the rain! Orange, lemon, quince, cherry plum, banana, peach, old yellow apple, cider, green tea, honey, hay; fresh but slightly damp wood; half-baked rye bread, pastry, oatmeal cookies, glue and minerals!

Нос 86 Scapa 14 years (bottled in 2007) Nose: first impression is a ripe honeydew melon, then comes a light mint which is rounded off by a pear compote. Overall a pleasant fruity sweetness with a pleasant somewhat dusty impression
Вкус 85 Mouth: It starts with green fresh wood, then becomes fruity and has a mild attack. Then comes a delicious white almond chocolate
Финиш 81 Finish: It is still briefly on the tongue and then a hint of pear remains. After a few minutes there is still a very subtle almond pudding on the palate until it is finally gone.

Received as a gift from a good friend. I’d describe this as a nice summer dram. Not to harsh or complex, enjoyable drink near or with very little water added.
Нос 82 Sweet & fresh. Orchard fruit, sugar notes. Honeyed light and fragrant. Nice summery simple nose.
Вкус 85 The sweetness is offset by oak notes & spice. Subtle peach on the background. Light delicate and refreshing.
Финиш 82 The finish is not long as this is not a complex malt. At 40% it holds its own but would enjoy a higher ABV. Careful with water to not drown it. A hint of tobacco lingers as the finish dissipates.
