The Whisky Exchange's Black Friday Edition 2021 is very mature and might actually come across as older than it is.

What a fruit basket with vanilla accompanies the dram. Delicious. You could sniff the glass all evening. Slightly sharp in the mouth, but round and long on the finish. 86-90 – Wow, really good one, need a bottle

A pleasant, fairly dense and rich woody-tropical whisky with a good range of derivatives, relatively deep, well-balanced, tart, invigorating.

Uncle’s Tiki Kitsch The aroma featured a delightful evolution— initially sweet honey with hints of tropical fruit jams and candied ginger, it turned toward malty pastries and shortbread with time. Though it was never quite tangy enough to hit that golden pineapple shortbread cake note I love so much. Wood hung in the background while time brought out more earth, dark chocolate powder, and hints of more unctuous sweet fruits. On the palate the dram was medium-bodied with sweet fruit punch up front and more gentle notions of apple, pineapple, and ginger preserves. The flavors were well-integrated, though maybe not entirely well-rounded, and a touch austere at times as wood ran throughout, occasionally bringing a touch of bitterness to the fruits. The finish was medium-length with a touch of floral vanilla, grass, earth, and more wood. As with all of the Whisky Exchange Black Friday specials, the bottle technically gives no distillery, though a wink and a nudge gave this as a 1998 Glenburgie— a vintage no stranger to Elixir Distillers. Overall, the whisky developed nicely in the glass with a beautiful aroma but a slightly too woody profile for my taste. Scanning reviews online, the fruit and chocolate elements appear relatively common, though few others found the woodier elements as strong or expressing bitter qualities— so, as always, your mileage may vary. I consider myself near enough to be a proper Glenburgie fanboy that my expectations are properly high and I imagine it is the kind of whisky that grows on you over time.

Very simple and direct happiness

Nose: a warm fruity side at first, with stewed peaches and plums, as well as poached pears and hints of banana pie. Fresh minty notes stand out. Then some brioche and cake, as well as dried grass and barley. Hints of sunflower and almond oils. Beeswax in the background. A natural beauty. Mouth: a rather fatty arrival, with more of these creamy fruits. Stewed pear and apple, preserved pineapple and a subtle hint of papaya. Gets leafy after a while, also showing hints of tripel beers, waxed papers and orange squash. Jaffa cakes too. Balanced baking spice and polished oak towards the finish, as well as grapefruit peel. Finish: medium, with the same cake and leafy notes. A touch of latte before it fades on rather cognac-like hints of moist oak, making it seem a bit older than it is. There’s beautiful fruit indeed, but also leafy, oaky and chocolate-y notes which means it’s not a fruit bomb nor a sherry bomb. This is a natural, barley-driven whisky at a fair price. In previous years it was sold out in an hour or so, but not this time… Brexit doesn’t help, and I must admit I prefer TWE’s Christmas Malt 2021.

Nice fruit bomb: lots of bright fruits with blossom honey and vanilla. Very pleasing. The nose is a dream, but unfortunately it doesn't hold up on the palate and in the finish. 87/100 or 6/10

Definitely not a distillery I normally drink from. I’d love to know who made this. A very sweet marzipan on the nose and a nice smooth fruity taste. A bit of an apple and date after taste. Its non chill filtered non the less.
