Nice finish, lovely lovely deep sherry, breathtaking finish, very nutty, oaky, dark deep sherry. |
A sherry bottling could hardly be more elegant and gentlemanly, while still having sufficient strength and a beautiful range of aromas. That is exactly what Macallan stands for for me, even if it is becoming increasingly rare. Wonderful malt, price hidden.

Luxurious sherry whisky - a bright Macallan, but not beyond the usual idea of their modern sherry whisky. Naturally, it cannot cost any 1200 euros! That's funny! 23 23 22 22

A hint of warm chimney smoke, hint of butterscotch, the finest dried fruit aromas (dates, figs, raisins), dark sherry and spicy honey, oranges, woods, nuts, spices, baking spices, herbs. Great nose, elegant and very appealing. 92-93 |

noble, dried fruits, oranges, warm wood notes, spicy honey, spices, baking spices, sweet-tart-sweet, seems light but not thin. Perfectly balanced, very elegant and flavorful. As if cast from one piece, superb :) 92-93 |

Genuine, authentic sherry casks from an old cellar. Balsamic, black currant, juicy berry and dark berry jam, old leather, ink, floral notes on the nose adding extra dimension. It is delicate and refined; the ABV percent is low, but still rich in flavor. would get a higher pt if it would be more oily and higher abv

Macallan Oscuro 46.5%. 30ml sample purchased to celebrate my son's birth, June 2021. Very dark cognac-like colour. Aroma could also be mistaken for cognac. The nose is surprisingly floral with rose petal and lavender ... the eucalyptus-sherry note morphs into washing up liquid. Fig and pomegranate. Oak comes through late on. Pomegranate, lavender and washing up liquid are the dominant aromas for me (no, my glass did not have washing up liquid on it). Taste is more clearly sherry-dominant, veering towards cognac again, the spicy spirit pulls through the sherry, syrupy dark fruit vibes - but it is a light syrup - cut with alcohol. Chilli flakes on the finish. Very cask-dominated, to the extent that you could swear that wine was added or that this was made with brandy distillate. Hmm I'm not sure what to make of this one. Lots of similarities to cognac - perhaps more cognac cues than whisky ones. Blind I don’t think I would pick this out as a whisky, which is quite disappointing. I feel that this was engineered to meet a particular consumer subset’s expectations, or to position Macallan close to cognac competitors for marketing reasons, rather than to produce what was perceived as a good whisky. It may seem harsh but I have to be honest with my scoring, and if I tasted this blind I believe I would rate it 3.0/72. It simply doesn’t taste like whisky to me.
Fruity is not much, overall malty, old oak feel, soft and rich nuts, not bad finish and structure, high drinkability, oil, lightly plastic
This is a wonderful Macallan with some old school sherry influence. Tastewise definitely recommended

Color reddish brown hanging cup medium thick Smells: The dark candied fruit is too sweet, as if smelling a piece of honey, plum, ebony, smoky, deep, creamy, raisin, very layered and complex, constantly changing around a few key words, and even has a green-orange fruit fragrance in the middle and late stages 27.5/30 Taste: Sweet dark chocolate at the entrance, dark coffee, sweet and bitter, slightly bitter taste, candied candied fruit, raisin, ebony caramel, a little bit of the sulfur flavor of Sherry barrels that is common in Macallan, under such a heavy Sherry flavor, it does not reduce the pleasure. The final taste Then it returned to dark chocolate, woody and light smoke, but finally felt some powdery feeling, the whole is very typical heavy Shirley, and there were some surprising changes in the end 27.1/30 Aftertaste: Candied fruit, bittersweet, dark chocolate, dark coffee, slight sulfur, woody bitterness is relatively obvious, but it can relieve the greasiness and prevent you from drinking this wine too quickly. Overall: Under the high price, McAllen does have something, which should be a good thing, but at this price... it can only be said that he is Macallan 81.6/90

A bland, very drinkable sherry whisky ... the whole thing hasn't had anything to do with Macallan for a long time, I thought I had a whisky-sherry liqueur in the glass during a blind tasting, quite syrupy, very sweet, short finish and only the sweetness remains . In short, a drinkable, too-sweet, tacky drink. The presentation is relatively appealing, but nothing more ... got 2 large samples as gifts, I buy and drink current Macallan bottlings and no longer, so I prefer to buy the good old standards like the 70s 10yo Full Proof Giovinetti 57% , this is Macallan ;)
A ripe and full-bodied, oily, extremely dry Macallan with an interesting "Chilli Catch" with Nahe like a Talisker. Why NAS

Very voluminous, sweet and fruity sherry nose. Ripe winter fruits and candied fruits. It is very heavy in the glass. |

Full-bodied and settled on the palate, great sherry barrel, then the chilli before the finish, certainly the reason for the lack of age information. |

Very long, extremely dry, not as warming for a long time as the chilli on the palate suggested. |
Had a taste out of a freshly popped bottle. While gentle and nicely sherried, just a tad bland and one dimensional. There are plenty of better Macallans for a fraction of the price.
A truly perfect sherry whisky. Elegant yet powerful. Milk chocolate with orange dominates. Cedarwood and tobacco underline this. No bitter oak. If there's anything to criticize here, it's that it lacks rough edges, in other words, a sense of surprise.

Quite crazy to open such a bottle & my expectation was high & to be very honest, it blew my mind BIG TIME! This is not just a bottle to show off, it is a gem. I collect for 25+ years, and this is my favorite of em all. Dry and brutal fruitiness, spice & sherry, not overwooded, very balanced and a very long delightful finish. If you like deluxe Speyside, this id the choice.
Well, yes and no. Is this exzeptionell whisky? Why yes! Above standard modern Macallan, taste-wise? Absolutely! Is it worth more than a thousand euro? No, how could it be? Would order a dram, but never a bottle. Nose is sublime, complex, waxy, oily, honey, leather and dried fruit galore. Taste is more subtle, some might say bland. This certainly demands time and mindfulness. Opens up with beautiful notes of Sloeberry complete with piths and twigs. Then subsides to a more balanced sherry profile with dried fruit, nuts and leather with minor oldschool beeswax candle notes. Tasted on a tradefair, so maybe try at home or a quiet Bar, where time is plentiful. Nice one for sure, but the Price is something else…
One of the better NAS I've had the opportunity to taste, rubs against the old school Macallan, unfortunately a dying breed.
