Торфяно-морской Octomore на бурбоне: солёные водоросли, дым, сливочная карамель и копчёные ягоды при мощном спирте. Опытные и остальные согласны — крепкий, но эмоционально сдержанный образец, оценки плотно держатся у 86–88.

В аромате плотный торфяной дым с морским уклоном — солёные водоросли, солянка, тёплый асфальт, поверх травы, имбирного печенья, ванили и карамели; у части дегустаторов проступают землистые, хвойно-лесные и минеральные оттенки, вплоть до кисло-винных и резких «лабораторно-больничных» нот. Вкус сливочный и сладкий на старте (карамель, тоффи, солод), затем разворачивается в пряно-перечную, травяно-морскую сторону с копчёной сливой, курагой и цитрусом; спирт заявляет о себе сразу — мощно, остро и сухо, но хорошо пьётся неразбавленным. Послевкусие среднее-долгое, ведомое дымом, но не одномерное: травы, водоросли, тёмный шоколад, кофе с молоком и просвечивающая ягодная сладость.
Хвалят за интегрированный, негосподствующий дым, разнообразие и питкость при высокой крепости — говорят, из пятилетнего спирта выжали много. Критикуют нехватку эмоций и глубины, местами странность вкуса («кубики Лего»), сухость и кислотность в финале. Расхождений между опытными и остальными почти нет: авторитетные ставят 85–89, прочие — 86–88, оценки согласованны и без выбросов; при слепой дегустации виски принимали за Ledaig. Отмечают, что серия .1 вызревает на бурбоне и это самая бережная выдержка для такого спирта, а ячмень сорта Concerto задаёт характер.

21+ 22 21 22 86+ Octomore, just Octomore, not bad, pretty good, but lacking in emotions...
Here Bruichladdich got quite a lot out of a whisky that was only 5 years old. It's fun, a whole bottle of this wouldn't make a sad living in my bar.

Nose: very interesting, some smoke, seaweed, warehouse. Palate: Bit weird, lego bricks come to mind, still some ashy smoke, dried apricot sweetness. Finish: Bonfire smoke, meaty, enough sweetness. Great dram, tasted blind I initially guessed Ledaig ;-)

And then came another stroke of genius – Octomore. The Octomore .1s are typically bourbon matured, which seems the kindest maturation vehicle for the distillate. C: Somewhat bubblegum-y, this reminds me of the 6.1 [WLP88] if slicker. Here, the barley variety is Concerto which should make the difference. Indeed, 13.1, 13.2, and 13.3 are all concerto barley borne.

Vanilla, pastry, cream, lemonade, smoky-peat notes are quite fragile, later sour-wine notes, barely minerality, then a dirty rag in a laboratory, an infectious ward of a hospital, maybe a chicken coop of Nasha Ryaba (chickens fed antibiotics). The taste immediately shows its strength, sharp, dry. The aftertaste is also sour-dry, average. 21.5-22-21.5-22
