I tried this with a few small drops of water from the off. i found this really difficult to score the fruit, which is like stewed apple with a little toffee crumble in the mix is held back too much by the peat and white pepper, that said the finish is very good , nothing out of balance but it is marred by an off note, like something metallic? This is a competent aged Laphy but taste wise this is a £150 whisky, not 1k, not even remotely close.

If you have the following in mind in your head as follows: 'Laphroaig, 30 years, 50%, that can actually be nothing more than a bang', you will feel more than confirmed after the tasting. An absolute dream.

At first extremely reserved, after just a few moments, a fruit basket appears in the glass filled with peaches, apricots, plums and red apples. Very subtle smoke, which you could easily think of as an "aroma" of old wooden floorboards. Honey and brown sugar, old leather, dry tobacco leaves. A short trip to the spice rack gives you a mixture of nutmeg, ginger powder and grated cloves. A nose that rests in itself and has a lot to tell. |

Creamy and full of anticipation, which feels soft and velvety on the tongue despite an alcohol strength of 53.5%. Dry wood, very mild smoke, in which the peat used can hardly be made out. Orange jam, almonds, hazelnuts, dark chocolate. While the nose was dominated by fresh fruits, the dried counterparts dominated the aroma. Leather and tobacco, dry deciduous forest floor, wood, which ensures a pleasant dryness. Dark chocolate, freshly roasted espresso. |

Long and just imperceptibly drier. The fruity aromas fade over time, leather, dry wood and dark chocolate take the lead. It stays there for a long, long time. If you think: it's over now, he'll do another round. |
Keep at 88 first. Last time I tried, I know it was much higher than this but I had not taken any notes then nor written the point based calculation. 88 is based on a 90% empty bottle. Once I open my own bottle, I can give a proper review it deserves.
Is his worth € 1,000? I do not think so. Would now like to compare directly with the 18s, which I have so wonderful in my memory. Overall, a great malt, but totally overpriced.
Day 7 of Lockdown - 24th March - Drove down to Bukit Bintang yesterday for a meeting. Two road blocks along the way. For the first time, I need a company letter to justify my travel to continue the journey. All this for the effort to contained the pandemic. No complaint. N- Barley lingers. Thick smoggy scents of overripe soursop. Firm at spine with broad rusty and copper notes. Little wild flowers, pleasing crushed mint leaf, some nut and iodine joins the party, with waves of spicy strength awaiting at the shoreline. (90/22) P- Well mature, classy, gentle. Perfect integration of peat and oak to share the limelight. Charred citrus peel and nuts skin indicating the layer of oil with soft bitterness and olive brine. Also the waxy honey that never bad to attains. (94/23) F- Long. Simply classy and aged gracefully. Not the usual Lap that always hit the ground hard, they should make more of this style, perhaps. https://kaypingers-whiskyblog.de/frontend/fullarticle.php?id=385 Colour: gold Nose: Pepper fresh and maritime spicy. A metallic note is added. Add limonene, grapefruit, green apple, salty sea air, peat, smoke with cold ashes, and a little later you will find fresh green aromas that stir up the previous ones. Leather, liquid honey, malt, paper and vanilla adapt. Taste: Spicy, fresh and woody. Herbs, peat, smoke, grapefruit, honeydew melon. Overall, he remains salty-maritime with peppery impacts and is now unfortunately out of round. The freshness is now in the first place and suppresses much in the taste - bitter-bitter towards the finish. Finish: Long - still slightly out of round, tart and peppery-spicy. Now with more smoky peat and with not particularly well integrated fresh wood it goes to the final spurt. Somewhat dull, as there are hardly any fruit notes to be discovered. 87 points N: 90P / G: 86P / F: 84P

very seldom that I even buy samples of such expensive whiskies, so let´´s take time: even at this age it´s obvious hat this is laphroiag. no other whisky has this specific medicinal DNA. Let me advice you to give this dram a lot of time. it reaaly deserves it. if you rush this dram you get a slightly more developed version of the 15yo (I´m a big fan of that one, mind you) . we got a very rounded smoky nose with first class liquorice, just a bit of tar, lots of lemon juice, grapefruit, olives and brine. has a bit of a 30yo Caol Ila which can only mean it´s a very good dram. hints of linseed oil and the mildest oak. it´s also got a slightly herbal edge. Vermouth? you can nose this stuff for hours! |

neat, there is no doubt it´s not as good as the nose suggests. not because it´s lacking complexity but it´s just too sharp to deliver the flavours. so let´s add a drop of water. i hope it´s a swimmer. ok, added just a drop and the nose develops even more. what about the palate? well, to be honest, the strong side is not the palate. not that it´s bad whisky, lol, no, not at all but I would have NEVER guessed it was 30 years of age. it´´s like an 18 year old Laphroaig with some bitter herbs in it. too bitter for my palate, at least today. but again, it´s still good stuff. |

As soon as it is poured into the cup, there is an obvious and elegant leather aroma, followed by sweet orange, golden malt, vanilla, some dusty herbs, sweet cream, light peat, red apples, syrup, and after the cup is awake for a while, there will be very advanced floral aromas (like daisies), herbs, lavender, some rust, spices, and seaweed. |

Laphroaig 30 Year Old. Short review with Paul at the distillery. Aroma - oak-led, vanilla toffee pennies also quite fruity. Taste vanilla, oak, quite salty. Decent but quite oak-led at this age. 3.45/82
I tried this blind... I was pretty confident that it was a middle-aged Bowmore. It was very tasty, but didn't have the soft iodine or bacon-y notes that I normally expect from old Laphroaig.
It is inexplicable that someone evaluated Zhou Baihao as the type that Hong Kong women like.

Overall: Of course Lpah's things from the 60s and 70s, the aroma is very top-notch, but if you don't talk about the aroma, or the aroma only accounts for 10% of your rating, then why would this bottle of Laph lose a lot? ? I don't think so! So I decided to add a point to it privately. Nose: Refreshing sea salt and fruit opening, the aroma is expressive and continues to rise, citrus, herbs, medicinal materials, mint, and there is a refreshing feeling of a mountain covered with misty woods. The peat comes in the form of a bit sharp but faint, metal, paint (grease), and minerals. There is almost no sense of alcohol, the aroma is balanced, complex, and a very powerful wine. Drink: The body is medium-upward, almost the same as the smell, and the taste will be clearer, more expressive, and richer. Passion fruit, salty and fresh, beige root herbs, green fresh herbs, very delicious, with a long aftertaste.
dried yellow tropical fruits. Orange, vanilla, complex layers of milk and smooth dark chocolate. The typical medicinal notes and some sea air can also be found, but relatively unobtrusively. Smoke has also broken down mostly into complex notes, but is still perceived as friendly smoke. For me the best whisky that I was able to enjoy apart from a "warehouse tasting".
