В аромате — свежесть, не выдающая 25 лет: зелёное яблоко и яблочные кольца, ваниль, воск, на фоне карамель и тропические фрукты, торфяной дым присутствует умеренно и деликатно, не перекрывая остального; после проветривания складывается гармоничная, спокойная картина. Во вкусе выходит вперёд бурбонная бочка со сладостью, пряностью и хорошо встроенным спиртом, отмечают приятную солёность в сладости и карамелизованную грушу; послевкусие долгое, наполняющее рот, с пряностью и возвращающейся грушево-карамельной сладостью, но у части дегустаторов ощутима дубовая горечь. Опытные ревьюеры ставят виски вровень (88–89) и ценят живость, чистоту и отсутствие явных дефектов, однако именно они точнее всего фиксируют слабое место — мыльно-фиалковый и слегка восковой оттенок во вкусе и послевкусии, снижающий тонкость напитка. Остальные оценки расходятся шире: от 91 за грушево-пряное послевкусие до 86, где бурбонная бочка названа угловатой, с опилками и мукой, и до критики бледности. При этом разброс невелик, а общий разговор об одном профиле (зелёное яблоко, ваниль, сдержанный дым, сладость бурбонной бочки) делает оценки согласованными; распространены догадки о происхождении — Scapa или Highland Park.

I would definitely guess that this is a Scapa. The profile is rather sweet, with light vanilla gummy bears and lots of green apple. For 170 euros you get around 25 years of unfinished cask strength. I like that. What I don't like is the slightly soapy note on the palate. The soapy and violet era was already over at HP in 1998, so despite this note there is nothing to speak against Scapa. I think 170 euros is OK to open the bottle and enjoy it.

Нос	90	The first nose is light, a flat but still pleasant sweetness with vanilla. Just a little peat smoke, ripe, fine green apple. Seems very calm and harmonious, but not necessarily very old. Nevertheless, this is a nice whisky for purists to enjoy. No faults.
Вкус	89	88.5 Oh, the saltiness in the sweetness is very good. Very intense, fine start. Then a slightly bitter sweetness in the middle that doesn't quite match the strong start. I was at 91 points at first, but the middle and end are more like 89 points because there is a slightly soapy undertone. Still a very fine whisky though.
Финиш	89	Slightly waxy, but also slightly soapy. The finish is rather long, but this soapy note disturbs the delicate quality of the whisky.

So far I only knew bottlings from this distillery from sherry casks. I let it breathe in the glass for 60 minutes.

Нос	91	In the first 20 minutes after pouring, I have eucalyptus and freshly opened bandages in my nose immediately after pouring. These impressions remain, but are no longer so dominant after a few minutes. Young green apple appears. I perceive wax. There is also vanilla in the background. Maybe there's caramel in there too. After 30 minutes in the glass, the vanilla comes into its own. Now I notice smoke very discreetly and not at all overlying it. After 60 minutes in the glass, it leaves a harmonious overall impression.
Вкус	91	With the first sip I have vanilla and an increasingly strong spiciness. There is very delicate smoke. The alcohol is well integrated and does not come to the fore. I notice caramelized pear discreetly in the background. It's only when you swallow that you really notice the alcohol.
Финиш	92	The finish is the highlight for me. At first it seems medium-length, without anything being intrusive. At first it is mouth-filling with a nice spice. But then a pleasant sweetness remains on the palate that reminds me of pears. After the second sip, caramel runs down the mouth. I think that's really good. The smoke remains discreetly in the background.

A great whisky from Berry Bros & Rudd, which is probably a Highland Park. The nose is great, you can feel the cask strength in the taste and the finish is nice and long. Well balanced and very drinkable. Pure enjoyment.

The smoke might remind you of Highland Park, but otherwise it remains comparatively pale, and the angular bourbon barrel with sawdust and flour doesn't make it any better. OK, but much better has been bottled under Orkney Islands.

Нос	86	The nose is fresh and, to me, doesn't reveal that this is a 25-year-old whisky. Apple rings, vanilla, and tropical fruits in the background. Smoke is moderate.
Вкус	88	Here it is. Sweetness and the bourbon barrel bring the typical aromas of tropical fruits. Very round and puristic.
Финиш	88	Long. Oak is present in abundance. Sweetness remains, as do the fruits.

Нос	90	Fruity, lots of green apple rings from Haribo, slightly grassy, almost reminiscent of good Lowland malts from the past (Little Mill). Great!
Вкус	88	Similar to the nose. There's also a slight saltiness, some violet soap, but good, wood, quite a bit of bitterness at the end, but okay.
Финиш	89	Apple, cotton candy, bitterness from the wood. Great whisky. Quite exciting, as the wood and bitterness linger at first, but then the sweet fruits and cotton candy return later, as my colleague will_iam describes so well. Doesn't feel like a Highland Park, Scapa??
