В аромате хересные ноты быстро уступают место характеру дистиллята — минеральность, восковая нота, лёгкая солёность и морской оттенок; сверху апельсин и мандариновая цедра, тёмные и чёрные фрукты, а у части ревьюеров — цветочно-медовые тона, ромашка, ваниль, консервированный персик и подсушенный дым горелого дерева с чёрным перцем и тёмным шоколадом. Во вкусе херес хорошо встроен: тёмные сливы, виноград с кожицей, абрикосовый и апельсиновый оттенки, пряные травы и землистые, почти пыльные полутона, тело плотное, слегка желеобразное. Послевкусие сухо-фруктовое, с корицей и деревянной сладостью, держится долго, хотя один автор отмечает, что сладкие фрукты уходят слишком быстро.
Опытные оценивают образец крепко и согласованно (84–88), хваля целостность и баланс хереса с минерально-восковой сердцевиной, зрелый возраст и разумную цену при 48% с хорошо интегрированным спиртом; из недостатков отмечают серные тона, оттенки лака для ногтей и минеральный дым, а также умеренную сложность. Основное расхождение даёт единственная резко низкая оценка (45) с жалобами на чистый спирт, серу, водянистость и бедность профиля, но сам автор оговаривает, что это «забытая» бутылка, не отражающая её настоящего состояния, — то есть общий разброс мнений невелик.

Nose: Just finished the hygienic shopping mall, a lot of pure alcohol, clearly visible sulfur smell, faint hints of clove and honey, a little floral, tomato meat sauce, but all of this is so light (except alcohol), almost There is no complexity and expressiveness, no frame at all, and no picture of a 90s kitten. Drink: The wine is soft, a little watery, the flavor is still thin, but it is better than the smell, more fruit, more Sherry barrel content, but still not clear, and the finish is chocolate. Overall: This is one of those share bottles that I put in the cupboard and forget to drink, and it doesn't represent its true state.
A 20 year old Clynelish 1996 for LMDW, from a vatting of 2 sherry butt. With an alcohol level of 48%, we do not notice the dilution, the alcohol being well integrated, but still very present. On the nose, we first notice the sherry notes, but it does not take long for the Clynelish characteristics to emerge, with its mineral and waxy side. There are notes of orange, and perhaps some black fruits, certainly coming from the sherry casks, which are in perfect balance with the mineral and slightly maritime distillate with its wax note. A very good Clynelish, of a good age, and which was sold at a reasonable price compared to other Clynelish with similar characteristics.
