Another Laphroaig without age, as you unfortunately often find these days. Nevertheless, it is often highly valued - absolutely rightly so. A great malt from Laphroaig!

Golden color. Oily structure.

[Tasted blind] N: I’m guessing Laphroaig straight off the bat with a profile that speaks of sweet sawdusty vegetal peat,… and very buttery/olive oily, onion yoghurt,.. Perky and chatty overall. T: Decent enough weighty arrival, but anything would be after an Auchentoshan at 40% abv. A vegetal-sweet smoky, mechanics-oily dram with an Indian yoghurty dip,… Builds in intensity, so perhaps this one is around 46%[+] abv? I’ve no doubt this is Laphroaig. F: Barley smoke,…well-charred wood, a nice green-ish barley oiliness, peat-fresh smoke stretches out,.. Vegetal-dry vanilla at the death. C: Very nice, not mind-blowing. Revealed: Lore, no way!! I’ll never forget [or forgive myself for] buying this as a dream dram at Whisky Lounge 2016. Very different from TWE Show.

Remembered first sipping on this Lore at the Harbour Inn, by the Loch Indaal few summers ago. Not the best Laphroaig, but with fond memories. N- Briny malt, stylish smoked salted chocolate garnished with yellow chrysanthemum. Vegetal and savoury, half shell mussel and whiff of distant marmite. Great opening, but missing the depth to lasts. Whirling around the coastal edge with concentrated dried berries and maraschino. (87/21) P- Sour berries, fruit peels, spicy peat soaked with brine, masculine and heavy mouthfeel. Liquorice candy at tail. (85/19) F- Long, spiciness translate to dry oak ashes, echoing, moist berries and chocolate cask with chili oil. Chewy. (87/21) B/B- 87/21 Bold on strength a plus point, but restrictive. Weighted Rate- 82pt Cr-2, Fr-2, Fl-1, Pt-3, Ft-2, Sp-0, Wd-2, Wn-1, Sc-2 — at The Whisky Bar, Kuala Lumpur.

Tasted in 2015 and 2025. Quite good for a standard NAS bottling. 71-80 – Fine, like to drink by time

Not really balanced. Nice peated dram but not constant: nice notes run in parallel with less pleasent ones. Blind tasting notes from homemade Advent 2017 calendar, gentle gift of friends.

Sorry NAS; nevertheless a very good complex Laphi - at introduction a bit too expensive, now ok!

Color: Oloroso Sherry Disappointing - the 10 YO at 40% is better.

From the outset we recognize the typical profile of the distillery, with a beautiful scale, and an impressive power, iron peat, slightly rusty metal, nails, tires, fuel oil, camphor, bandages, betadine, not to mention iodine and sea spray. , tide, kelp and not-so-young seaweed, it's all there. And it's beautifully balanced. There is also a beautiful fruity richness, not easy to distinguish in the middle of this bric-a-brac, but banana, plums, Belle-Hélène pears, with lots of whipped cream. The mouth is in line, very medicinal, a little herbaceous, fruity, with relatively controlled spices, pepper, cumin, nutmeg. Long and sparkling finish, powerful but not overwhelming, cola, coffee, green tea, basil and parsley. And also coal, gas oil, all the same in the background. For me it is a great success. A wonderful Laphroaig! Based on the cask composition, I expected something cheaper and simpler. This release did not disappoint. The taste is excessively bitter with burnt grass. 22 21 20.5 20.5

An easy drinking away Laphroaig. Rich and well balanced.

S 6 Quite dull and modern, another entry level Laphroaig.

Nose: medicinal salty peat smoke, tar cake, citrus fruits, dry hay, salted nuts, lots of sweet fruits, raisins, plums, red fruits, wild strawberries, wet tobacco. Taste: creamy, very sweet, vanilla, caramel, butter cookies, yeast cake with red fruits, strawberries, burnt white sugar, medical peat, light smoke. Finish: medium long, medical, sweet, vanilla, toffee, a bit of tart wood, hay, hard candies, a bit of bonfire ash.

An unusual Laphroaig that I did not recognize as such in a blind tasting. The otherwise typical medical, phenolic tones are clearly reduced here. The smoke is more maritime and the dram is pleasantly sweet and elegant. Might be a good way to introduce newcomers to Laphroaig.

For me the favorite par of this whisky is it's finish. Really really soft and elegant.

Overall, a wonderful member of the Laphroaig core lineup, albeit one without a lot of transparency as to what sort of components are used in its construction. I do wish this were a little bit thicker as the mouthfeel sometimes felt a bit thin. If the finish lasted just a bit longer, or the intensity was a bit greater, I could easily see this scoring a few notches higher. Mental Image: Chocolate Bundt Cake at a Salmon’s Dinner Party

For me a not really round Laphroaig. On the one hand it looks very young, on the other hand the sherry part is not really well integrated, but seems "pushed up". I prefer the pure bourbon cask aging.

It is of medium viscosity and its bouquet is of moderate intensity. I have aromas of intense peat smoke, peat smoke, citrus fruit, vanilla, dried fruit, and maritime notes. Moderately complex. Relatively dry in taste. Alcohol is well integrated and has a moderate body.

I finished the whole bottle; it was worth the price.

Smoky, iodine, cotton candy, tropical fruit. Feels like what a Laphroaig 15-year-old might have been. Citrusy and fruity with an overall impressive profile.

What shall I say: It is a Laphroaig, one of the most harmonious and complex kind

A bit difficult to evaluate, this one. Good potential and solid abv. but there seem to be batch variations and no age does not help here. If on sale for 65 EUR probably a good buy in times where the 16 and previous 18 are long gone or more expensive. But no buy for 90 EUR for sure. Could be more expressive with a longer finish, better casks uses. Pleasant but a bit too tame imho.

21/21/22/21 Tobacco, chocolate, sherried, burning peat. One of my favorite OB

Even though that's a great NAS and amazing value for money, I still like the 1815 legacy edition a bit more.

This was an eye-opening experience for me. Throughout the lifetime of the bottle, a massive disappointment - over-engineered with a cask confused multiple overcoat. However, as I’m rating this, I’m enjoying the dregs. About half a year of just a couple of glasses left in the bottle and the oxidation has forced all the disparate flavours to behave a bit. My guess is this would improve significantly given a few years to settle in an inactive cask - and that Beam Suntory would never care enough to do that :) My rating is for the heavily oxidised version. Most of the bottle gets an 82.

A decent single malt blend; easily satisfactory for someone at the entry level or someone used to typical travel retail bottlings. Of course, you have to like the interesting medicinal side of Laphroaig. It's not something that's out of the ordinary, but it's decent, although the price is a bit high for the self-confidence displayed. Price performance: Medium. Would I buy it again?: No.

Another bottle: Lore, but this is a lot less prominent, young and hay-like laph. Very weak and simple on the taste too - 85. A bit of everything here. Peat carries a lot of different flavors that can be hard to pinpoint. Nonetheless, I feel like this is great exploration dram that carries young and old whisky. Great NAS and must have!

Lore showcases the distillery character beautifully. The marriage of different cask types adds layers of dark fruit, chocolate and savoury complexity without overwhelming the spirit. The texture is rich and satisfying, while medicinal peat, smoke and coastal notes remain unmistakably Laphroaig. The peat feels slightly restrained compared with the cask-strength expressions, allowing chocolate, espresso, dried fruits and honeyed malt to take centre stage. Complex, balanced and rewarding, with enough sweetness to offset the bitter chocolate and ash. Cask combinations bring out savoury, rich fruits and smoke, medicinal peaty notes. Lovely rich blast of flavours nicely showing off in distillery character.

Laphroaig Lore. Mar 2019 - Dram at the end of the Laphroaig distillery tour. No notes taken - numerical score only. (3.7/88) April 2019 - Dram at The Imperial, Glasgow. Aroma is brine and bourbon, woody, woodchip. Taste is again woody leading to salty punchy peaty finish -very peaty indeed ... tasty stuff. Oily and seemingly more peaty than the standard Laph 10. Nice but a little one dimensional. Little custard on the linger. (3.55/85) July 2022 - 35ml dram at Imperial Bar Glasgow July 2022, Bon Jovi music playing. I didn't realise that my last dram of this was here! I wonder if this is from the same bottle. Dark golden. Aroma is a bit airy served in this tumbler ... seaweedy, mossy oak, pale woodchip. Taste is nicely concentrated, rich, sherried sweetness, the sherry maybe comes through a little too literally (definitely giving cheaper ‘seasoning’ vibes – these aren’t ‘proper’ sherry casks if my palate serves me right) but it adds a nice sweetness. Seaweedy lightly smoky linger. Salted Caramel. Quite a sweet-seeming dram for sure. Good concentration and richness but not my favourite Laphroaig expression. Still well above average, which tells you all you need to know about the quality of Laphroaig spirit. Many drams aged in these casks would not have worked. 3.6/86

Pretty solid, but I think I like the 16-year-old a little better.

I like the Quater Cask better in the taste

Based on a sample…. Smouldering peat in the shade of sherry. The peat feels a little more subdued than a typical Laphroaig, which to me speaks of some aging and not just a sherry treatment. The finish is where this slides a bit. It enters into mouthwash territory for me, but I tend to prefer my Laphroaig to be in ex-bourbon (although the 10 Sherry was a winner for me and one to look for over the Lore imo)

Bought this as a holiday dram. While Laphroaig's statement claiming this to be the "richest of all single malt scotch whiskies" might be an exaggeration, this is definitely a deliciously complex dram. It reminds me most of the Ardbeg Uigeadail and that is a very good thing in my opinion. It's a spicy chilli bomb, with that typical smoke, idione and ash profile inherent to Laphroaig. Although it's a NAS bottling, the leathery, tobacco qualities give away the fact that there are definitely some older components in this mix (rumor has it there is whisky as old as 21 years mixed in the equation that makes up the Lore). The most impressive feat the Lore displays in my opinion is that fact that the oloroso casks stand out by not being too apparent or obvious. The sherry influence is meticulously balanced so that it gives off its sweetness without ever taking the upper hand. It's always there, but in the background, so that the typical Laphroaig taste with the added oakiness and tobacco, along with some tasty nuttiness and vanilla and the very apparent spicy chilli bite, really get to shine. Concludingly; in terms of Laphroaig's current range (at least up until the 18 y/o), this is definitely the most richly flavored Laphroaig available right now. To me, this might even top the Ardbeg Uigeadail, and that says A LOT! A definite must-buy for fans of Islay whiskies.

The nose is unusually fleshy for a Laphi, as well as typically fruity and maritime. Nice and full in the mouth, with a woody-sweet and maritime feel. The finish has a chocolate-maritime and fruity finish. Length: 8/10 Overall typical Laphi with a slightly more meaty note. Grade: 2+

You still can adumbrate the distillery character in the initial nose. The taste is round and soothing, the finish long and mellow. All in all not a bad dram, but neither an excellent one. Appeasement to the masses, to reach a broader audience. Not for a Laphroaig lover, but a novice. The presentation is simple and stylish, while the price for a NAS is just ridiculous.

Lura is a great guy, compared to the original and 16.

The Lore is an interesting Laphroaig with a clear sherry influence. The casks, which are up to 21 years old, give the malt a nice complexity. At the same time, due to its age, the smoke is already more integrated and not as overwhelming as with some of the distillery's other bottlings. A good integrated smoky malt.easy drinker, smoke is well refined, take your time to enjoy it does open up to me its better without water.

Great fiery nose which reminds of how Laphroaig used to be 20 years ago when it was more flavourful and phenolic than it generally is today. Initially it seems very gentle and smooth and then it turns into crazy stuff with all sorts of industrial phenolic flavours. It calms down for the finish however... An interesting Laph, both mellow and bonkers at the same time. Reminds me of how old Talisker 10 used to taste with that chili catch before they neutered it. Only problem is a lot of the profile of this whisky is kind of slightly bland smooth spirit, like some kind of aged grain whisky... and the powerful phenolic good stuff, is only a small part of the flavour profile when ideally it would occupy more room and it's rather dry on the finish and that seems to be the whole of the finish...the dryness....

The nose is quite okay; it is easily Laphroaig style. on the plate is quite complex but also a bit thin, with some sherry hiding behind, oily. the finishing is rather short. in conclusion, yes as they say there are some ex-Laphroaig feeling like 2000s Laph 10yo. after a week, it feels thin...thus lowering the score to 84, the flavor is there tho still quite fruity tho

Might not be the most expensive Laphroaig outthere but man is it a good allround example of what they can do. The blend is excellent and even the most diehard opposers of peat will like this one, I’m sure. For the price it’s a great value!

I've never been so conflicted about a whisky before. Highs and lows man, highs and lows. It does not live up to its price point, full stop. Id rather have Oogie, which is 30% cheaper. BUT, there is a lot to recommend. Notes below...

Just about to finish a bottle I opened about two years ago. I must say it grew on me, as Laphroaig tends to do. Probably my favorite affordable (60 euros) Laphroaig core range malt.

This is one of my all time favourit whisky. Fair price, very balanced with peat and fruits. Especially i like flavour of tar. When nosing, a light smoke rise up. Tasting, first comes some fruits mixing with peat and tar, which lasts to the long aftertaste in my mouth.
