Хересный Macallan среднего насыщения на повышенном градусе, преобладает бурбонная бочка над хересом; чистый, солодово-пряный, с ванилью и сухофруктами. Мнения сходятся: добротно и сбалансированно, но дорого для своего уровня.

В аромате доминируют карамель, ваниль, дуб и сухофрукты с молочным шоколадом, орехами (миндаль, фундук), кокосом и пряной жилкой — корица, маринованный имбирь, щепотка белого перца, снизу цитрус; у некоторых проступают апельсин, яблоко, вишня и цветочные тона, что даёт чистый и уравновешенный нос. Вкус маслянистый и полнотелый: сухофрукты (чернослив, изюм, персик), грецкий орех, кожа, какао и тёмный шоколад, мёд, ваниль, поджаренный дуб и ощутимые пряности с чёрным перцем; без воды заметен жар молодого спирта. Послевкусие от среднего до длинного — карамель, ирис, какао, кофе, пряности и кожа, маслянистая текстура тянется к дубово-зерновой стороне, иногда с красными ягодами и лёгкой травянистостью. Опытные ревьюеры оценивают напиток стабильно высоко (86–88), отмечая маслянистую структуру, полноту и удачное представление стиля дистиллята, где бурбонная бочка ведёт, а херес лишь угадывается. Менее опытные разбросаны шире (83–87): часть хвалит доступность, сливочность и баланс между бочками, называя его шагом вперёд относительно базового 12-летнего, другие критикуют смазанное сочетание бурбона и хереса, излишний жар и появление неприятной горчинки при добавлении воды. Сквозная и почти единодушная претензия у всех групп — завышенная цена: качество признают добротным, но не выдающимся, и указывают, что за половину стоимости есть более интересные образцы.

Вкус 86 Dried fruit. Dried plums. Walnuts. Leather. A hint of varnish. Spices. Cinnamon. Pickled ginger. Cocoa. Dark chocolate. There is some oiliness. Black pepper. Oak barrel. Tobacco. Quite dry.
Финиш 87 Caramel. Toffee. Cocoa. Dark chocolate. Spices. Pickled ginger. Cinnamon. Leather. Walnut. Cocoa again. Coffee beans. There's some spiciness. Full and long-lasting. After the second sip, the dried fruit finally came through. Dried plums. Long finish.

S 7 Quite clean on the nose and full-bodied on palate. Bourbon-led with a trace of Sherry influence. Nothing heavily sherried or screaming age, but a good representation of Macallan distillate style and at a relatively decent price. Collectors are chasing after the darker ones so this flies under the radar. Consider this batch an elevated version of double cut.
Нос 84 Oily honey. Cooked cashews. White flowers. Granola and raisin mussels. Lotus biscuits. A hint of copper and garden mint as it breathes. Toffee candy. Candied ginger. Slightly pungent but rather soft considering the abv.
Вкус 85 Oily mouthfeel. Honey cereal. Vanilla and toasted oak. Dried fruits - sultana, plums, honey peaches. Buttery walkers. Cloves and cinnamon sticks. Fiery spices shouting its youth but not overwhelming. A lot of dark fruits and cocoa surfaced as it swirls.
Финиш 85 Mid-long finish. The oily texture carried on and now moved towards the oaky and cereal side. Some red berries with skin on. Mildly herbal. Enjoyable.

Not my favorite classic cut, the bourbon and sherry are muddled. Not bad, just not worth the price.

Sweet malty and spicy. Classic smooth sherried malt. Be careful with water, at this price, you need to savor everything. Honey barley, chocolate, caramel. Rich dark fruits in an oily, spicy syrupy feel. Strong bourbon cask influence seems to overpower sherry cask influence . A well rounded and quality whisky, but not mind blowing. There are better malts out there for half the price.

A really lovely Macallan. Lots of great aroma and flavor in really good balance. Nice and clear notes from both Bourbon and Sherry casks. At first, I thought it would remind me a bit of Macallan Double Cask, but this Classic Cut is significantly better.
Нос 88 Sweet oranges and apples hit the nose first. Then comes milk chocolate and nutmeg, followed by sweet malt and oak. Finally, a little vanilla and raisin. A wonderful and well-balanced nose.
Вкус 87 Soft and sweet chocolate cake with citrus, vanilla and marzipan. Then some bitter notes from grain and wood together with spices and biscuits. Finally, some stewed fruits with a touch of fresh green herbs. A really wonderful and delicious taste.
Финиш 86 A soft sweetness fills the mouth, and while the alcohol tingles a little on the tongue, the warmth sinks down the throat and out into the body. Slowly, bitter and slightly sour notes emerge from the grains and fruit. A nice balance settles in and forms a medium-long finish.

Successful in my mind. Side by side with the 2022 version, this one wins. Come on Macallan, price it more reasonable!

A medium sherried, distillate-driven, clean Macallan. It is a bit too hot without water, but with water it gets some unplasant notes. The palate and finish are not very interesting. Price is too high for a whisky that has problems. If value was a factor, this would not break 80 points.

Вкус 84 Clean, but a bit hot without water. Fruit, spiced, custard. With more water the sherry becomes more pronounced, but there is also bitterness that is not very pleasant.
Финиш 84 Medium to long. Tropical fruit, cherry, spices and vanilla.

Unlike the standard Macallans, the Classic Cut is bottled at a much higher alcohol percentage, and that immediately brings more flavor. Vanilla and ginger, supported by creamy toffee and raisins, milk chocolate, and slightly spicy flavors

Decent and accessible Macallan that’s better than core range 12 yr. old.
Нос 84 Initial nose of cherries, perhaps cherry cola. Soft vanilla and new oak.
Вкус 83 Nice mouthfeel neat but with a fair amount of burn and pepperiness. After adding a fair amount of water the pepper remains on the backend but burn is reduced. Creamier orchard fruits join the profile.
Финиш 83 This is a step up for sure vs. core range 12 yr old, imo. I think we’d all hope to see good approachable and affordable Macallan, though this is closer, competition at this price is far better. All that said, I like having a bottle in my collection as a reference for other Scotches and I do enjoy this but if your limited on what you can buy, move elsewhere.
