В аромате — морской костровой дым, зола и уголь, солёные брызги, поверх которых сладкая линия: карамель, ваниль, тоффи, а также спелые фрукты (запечённые персики, ананас, цитрусы) и порой тон подпорченных яблок, уходящий после нескольких минут в бокале. Вкус кремовый с лёгкой перечной атакой, сладко-дымный, с солью, дубовой пряностью и цитрусом; послевкусие среднее, суховатое, с жжёной карамелью, лакрицей и золистым дымом. Хвалят лёгкую питкость, приятную сладость и то, что дым не подавляет, оставляя место фруктам и пряности — многие называют напиток удачным «летним» или начального уровня. Расхождения умеренные: и опытные, и остальные сходятся на том, что торф здесь сдержаннее обычного лагавулиновского, а тело при 46% недостаточно мощное — отсюда упрёки в «плоскости», нехватке силы и уступке 16-летнему по балансу и элегантности. Наиболее суровые опытные (77, 84) винят искусственную сладость и слабость, тогда как отдельный высокий отзыв (92) видит в мягкой сладости достоинство повседневного дымного виски, портит впечатление лишь цена. В целом оценки согласованы и тесно сгруппированы у 86, без резкой поляризации между авторитетными и рядовыми авторами.

A somehow artificial sweetness dominates. Smoke only very subordinately. Quite tame, smoke felt most in the finish. Losing clearly in a direct comparison is the contemporary Jazz7 71-80 – Fine, like to drink by time

This is a whisky meant to be tasted. The smoke is not overly dominant, the whisky is pleasantly sweet and smooth. I understand exactly where this model is going. If it cost €60 and was generally available, it would be a great everyday smoker. Too bad about the price tag. Otherwise great

A Lagavulin - easy to drink - recommended for beginners. He's on the sweeter side and somewhat lacking in power. But beware - one of these bottles opened with a few friends and it could be empty quickly... The edition seems to be very large.

A really nice bottling, overall a little less elegant and rounded than the 16-year-old standard, but I liked the slightly higher alcohol strength and increased the pleasure on the palate a little.
Нос 86 Strong, maritime-style smoke (campfire by the sea). Ash, Charcoal, Sea Spray. In addition, notes of brown apples are mixed in at the beginning, which fortunately disappear after a few minutes in the glass. Furthermore, caramel, malt, vanilla, toffee, citrus notes, passion fruit, oak spice.

Нос 88 Lagavulin, unmistakably. Rolled in the glass, the nose is very very fruity, sweet and characterized by "warm smoke", fruits (peach, pineapple, orange, mango) on the grill come to mind as an association. Set in the glass, it becomes much more ashy with a little more spice.
Вкус 86 Quite accessible at the beginning, then a torrent of peat smoke swings over the tongue to immediately give way to grilled peaches and a good amount of oak. For me, the peat smoke is almost restrained for Lagavulin standards and has good opponents with the fruity and spicy notes. Some ash here too. Relatively well adjusted at 46%.
Финиш 84 No surprises at the end. Still latently fruity with spices, but more dominant ashy on the finish. It then sounds medium-fast, a few % more would have been good here.

The colour is quite light and there is little whisky sticking to the glass. The structure leaves something to be desired but this is probably because I prefer a higher abv. Maybe the 46% of this whisky is better suited for other people.

A nice Laga, my first Offerman. worth drinking.
Нос 89 Nice smoke with a lot of sweetness and a portion of fruit.
Вкус 90 Sweetness, smoke, spiciness, then some fruit. Fruit rather light or berry. The smoke is a bit ashy and always present.
Финиш 89 Medium to long. The smoke remains and a portion of sweetness, the sharpness is gone.

Absolute snooper Taste and finish just as tasty.
Нос 90 Sherry flavors mingle with slightly smoky/phenolic maritime notes. Fine spiciness and very subtle sour aromas are mixed in, rounded off by sweet forest honey. Vanilla and some perfumed hints with citrus notes round off the overall picture.

A very nice Lagavulin; the smoke has plenty of room to breathe, and the extra charred casks impart a lot of spice and vanilla. The extra finish isn't at all overpowering and even adds a touch of exoticism for me. - 06.01.2023

I have left Lagavulin behind for a long time. The price is too high and the quality has deteriorated anyway. But this bottling is particularly tasty. Bought a whole bottle anyway.

Very sweet in the nose, chewing gum and cough syrup, then finally the smoke and ash comes in the mouth. Seems too artificial to me, overall there's not enough.

I like this one better than the Guinness Cask before it's close to 89 points but can't quite reach them.

Вкус 88 Saltyness is present, a little smoke and iodine. Quite sweet fruits not really classic Lagavulin

Great nose with smoke and malty sweetness. On the tongue the smoke becomes even more dominant. Overall a solid Islay dram.

Soft peat, but short on distillery character. Sweet, fruity, better than when first opened. Not distinctive. Wouldn't know it was Lagavulin if didn't look at label.

Lagavulin 11 year Offerman Ed Charred Oak Cask SMSW 46%. 30ml consumed Dec 2022. Rated during my ‘no notes’ policy period, freeing up evening time. Black peppercorn aroma. Taste is a bit light but the charred cask flavour really complements the spirit. Soft fruitiness in behind. A solid bottling if a bit lightweight – takes a long time to grow. The finish is nice Lagavulin expansive bonfire smoke. A nice twist on the profile of the 16. A beginning of the night dram for me - something to relax into and pave the way for punchier, more complex drams. 3.625/86

A decent character, not the usual Lagavulin. This one has some edge. Certainly not everyone's favourite. I like the punch.

Вкус 88 Charred wood with slight bitter notes, but then immediately very sweet honey from wildflowers or firs, spicy peat almost slightly peppery, liquorice and a hint of caramel
Финиш 89 Long and strong, the smoke and toasted barrel remain present for a very long time. First spicy and herbal, then oily and sweet again with a hint of cinnamon.

The first sip is really great, the characteristic Lagavulin peat and the smoky taste of the charred barrel. After that, the charred taste fades into the background

In a year that bought some Lagavulin disappointments with the Feis Ile and young Jazz editions, this one leans more towards to the powerhouse expressions like the 8, 16 and SR 12. It is quite straightforward and deliciously on the meaty, smoky, grill fire notes. The mouthfeel is surprisingly gentle, but the exit gives you one more kick to make it memorable. Good effort, this Offerman version.

Juicy charred medium raw steak, pink marshmallows, and winter green mint mouthwash. This actually tastes good, despite how these flavour notes sound.

Very nice Lagavulin, consistently great! But now the price has risen sharply. The 16 has more orange notes and more subtle smoke for me. The taste is also softer and lighter. In a direct comparison, I would actually prefer the 11er.

Нос 83 Although I expected a dominant peat flavour, the first thing I immediately recognize is charred oak, which I really like in whiskies. Burned vanilla, that's how I would describe that note. Peat and citrus notes are prominent. A similar smell as if I smell Whisky Sour (or Penicillin more precisely, it's peat after all). After some time in the glass, the peat becomes stronger, and I begin to recognize herbal tea in the smell. The intriguing notes that were present when the whisky was just poured into the glass are quickly lost to me, and it quickly falls apart in the glass.
Вкус 81 On the taste, peat is the first thing that jumps out (unlike the smell). A very fresh whisky, it pulls a lot on the citrus side of flavours. For 46% ABV, the alcohol is quite noticeable at first, if this was blind tasting, I would say it has more alcohol. Fresh ginger, and light grassy meadow notes. I'm not really a fan, although it's less peated than the classic Lagavulin.
Финиш 78 A slightly stronger dose of bitterness than I prefer, and the ginger from the taste turns into mint, it feels like I was chewing gum. I didn't like the finish honestly.

Enjoyable Lagavulin. Gentle and complex. In my opinion a liitle overpriced. For ~ 100 € i would not buy another bottle.
Нос 87 Sweet peat smoke, maritime, notes of red and black berries. Vanilla and some wood spices. However the nose is a bit boring and quite alcoholic.
Вкус 89 Gentle start, sweet smoke, maritime with salt and iodine, sweet berry fruit notes develop, dark chocolate and spices from the oak.
Финиш 88 Pretty long with cocoa and bitterness. Sweet, fruity and spicy notes.

In and of itself a decent whisky. To be fair, the whisky was tasted with a PC Islay Barley 2012, which is considerably sweeter in comparison. Aroma: The smell reveals a Lagavulin, even if it contains somewhat unusual notes, and I agree with some of the previous speakers. For me, however, the smoky and ashy is clearly in the foreground. A pleasant sweetness hides behind it. The nose is not complex. Taste: Ashes and campfires, kinda burnt honey. peppery finish: Medium long and here too the ash is the most concise for me. Conclusion: A decent whisky. However, the price cannot be justified for what has been achieved. Here you clearly pay for the name Offerman and the PR around it. I would prefer the 16 anytime.

Very exciting and versatile. Beautiful nose, great mouthfeel and the long finish are a pleasure and show no technical errors in barrel management.
Нос 90 Smoke, peat, dry earth, elderflowers, malt, herbs, followed by some fruit tea with strawberries.

Yes, yes. I sprung for the marketing hype. I’m prepared to come away with a big “meh” just because of the name on the bottle. Let’s see… Nose: My wife could smell the peat from across the room. Peat (obvi), campfire (must be the charred oak), sweet grilled peaches, and caramel. Palate: The peat and campfire are both there but it’s not overwhelming. The more you sip, the more that fades from view & the sweetness emerges. It’s just as the nose was: Grilled peaches. The typical Lagavulin oiliness is there and it coats the mouth nicely. Finish: All smoke. Campfire smoke, slight tobacco and pepper. This is perfection around the campfire. The perfect complement. It’s the Joey Tribbiani to Chandler Bing, the John Lennon to Paul McCartney. You can’t find a better pair. Overall: I’m not Mr. Peat. It’s probably 15% of the time that I’m reaching for a peated whisky. That said, this dram is solid. I’m splitting the bottle with a buddy & not regretting the purchase one bit. At $69 where I found it, you can't go wrong.

Very nice whisky, and different enough from the 16 and 8. Was $85 here in US, pushing it in terms of value. It takes time to open up - Let first 2 or 3 drams sit an hour. A ml or two of water improved it.
