| Нос | 86 | Immediately after pouring, citrus notes and caramel, earthy notes, the citrus notes are dominant. After a while, a beautiful, modern sherry nose presents itself. Dried fruit, a few roasted aromas, the citrus notes are still there, tending towards orange. The aroma density is rich. There are no surprises lurking when you smell it for a while, the whisky is just sometimes more fruity, sometimes more earthy, sometimes more mineral, the aromas remain the same. When warmed up, the fruits smell much fresher, the malt has a very mineral feel to it, a bit like floor wax. When it finally reaches the temperature of your hand, the fruits appear noticeably dark and candied. The roasted aromas are also more prominent now. There is only a little fruit acid left, and if there are any citrus notes left, then they are more like bergamot or something similar. |
| Вкус | 87 | The start is very soft, but the alcohol is still quite strong, the mouthfeel is extremely heavy and oily, there is a clear, not overpowering sweetness right at the beginning, a delicate bitterness comes towards the end, and the acidity is present at a pleasant level throughout. Overall, very round, very full, very satisfying in the mouth. In the second sip more acidity, less sweetness, especially noticeably astringent towards the end. In the third sip there is noticeably more oak. |
| Финиш | 87 | The finish is medium to long, initially carried by a slight bitterness, but the sweetness lingers longer than the bitterness. At the end, I get the feeling for the first time with this malt that there might be a little smoke, ash on the tongue. The chest area is pleasantly warmed up. In the second sip at the end there is a pinch of menthol, I don't want to believe in smoke anymore. |
| Нос | 87 | Slightly dirty with farmy and lactose notes. More like something a (coastal) highland or island distillery could put out. Nutty with walnut, macadamia and pecans, sour cherry fruits, some dried currants and citrus. A hint of sulfur (a struck match in the far distance). A spicy note of nutmeg, clove and curcumin. |
| Вкус | 85 | Sour fruits, cherry, red currant, dried currant, bitter citrus, notes of coffee, dry leather and salted liquorice. Also clove, nutmeg and quite some chili pepper sharpness in the development (which again points to a slightly sulfury dram). |
| Финиш | 82 | Long: salty Dutch liquorice, roasted nuts, espresso, clove, nutmeg, chili pepper, sharp and a bit hot with dry wood notes at the tail end. |
| Нос | 87 | A beautiful, intense aroma clearly identifiable as Oloroso. Nutty, walnut. Subtle citrus notes in the background. Initially, it becomes slightly more alcoholic. After that subsides a bit, the citrus notes, which were initially in the background, become much more prominent. |
| Вкус | 86 | The wood is definitely noticeable. Dark, strong, European oak. More than I would have expected at 18 years old. I had expected the intensity of the wood to be more typical of 25 years. Everything is a little easier with water. |
| Финиш | 85 | longer. The woody and nutty notes linger on the palate for quite some time at about half intensity. The tannins from the wood are astringent, but light and not overpowering. |
