St Louis The 1904 Gold Medal is the first gold medal that Jack Daniel's won during the World's Fair in St Louis, Missouri. Almost a century later, in 1996, the company launched this commemorative bottling for the first time. However, I tasted a later release from 2004, which had already been in the bottle for two decades. Vanilla, wood glue, banana chips and violets. With pain in my heart I have to admit that I once again find this nose poor. The body is on the light side, the taste is very sweet. A truckload of vanilla, some honey, toffee and quite a few floral notes. This one even flirts with perfume! And besides, he is quite alcoholic. No, it's not my thing. The aftertaste is medium long and fairly sharp. Feel free to say astringent. And it leaves the mouth dry. Pfftt… I'm left disappointed. Ahem… anyone 1,500 EUR too much? Thanks to Jack's Safe from Roermond (NL) for the sample.
