All in all, the whisky is drinkable, but not really a revelation. I would expect a young malt poured into a wet wine or port cask. In the second tasting, I liked the nose a lot better. My tip would be a whisky that has been matured in a sherry cask and finished in a wine cask and is perhaps not quite as young. Notes from a blind tasting. Well, the ADOS syndrome. Glenfarclas would have been the last thing I would have thought of. Completely drowned in the barrel, almost no wood and these extreme wine notes along with the reddish tint. It's interesting, too. Also that the sweetness was very restrained for both PX and ADOS.
Нос 85 Just weird straight after pouring! A fairly reserved nose, but filled with strange fruit esters, unnatural acidity and alcohol that tickles the nose. It's not so nice at first. After a few moments I think I can smell sherry fruit, but overall the aromas seem almost absent. Now I also have notes of mold. It's going to be put under a lid for now and put in the corner to be ashamed. After a long period of time, the whole thing is at least more organized, but time will tell whether it tastes any better. First I find strawberry yogurt, then some honey, pear, malt candy, a hint of eucalyptus, yes, that seems to taste better. Movement brings the restlessness back a good deal. Again, there are wild combinations of esters, but still more organized than before. Lots of red fruit, sometimes cherry, sometimes raspberry, but everything is clearly artificial and on top of that there is this strange yogurt note. And also some yeast. I just thought to myself, now all that's missing is cheese, and hey presto, that can be interpreted into it too. In model making, there were some varnishes whose thinning smelled a bit like dissolved rubber, and that's exactly what it smells like here. When warmed, the yoghurt note initially fades briefly, with brief hints of ripe strawberries, emphasis on brief. Overall, the nose becomes darker, more yeast than yoghurt, plus malt and, is that smoke? If so, then only in homeopathic doses. Now I've spilled a bit, if I rub it between my hands, so it's fine as a lotion. :-) But seriously, I can now smell bready new-make notes. I can't find them in the glass, though. At the end, when it's brought up to temperature, everything is back in order. Red fruit notes, a little eucalyptus, but that's really it. However, it now seems very creamy and definitely darker. In a second tasting, after the sample had a few days to oxidize, the whisky no longer seems nearly as wild. The fruit notes, which seem real, are now superior to the artificial fruit esters. There are also a few really nice notes of maraschino cherries or similar now and then, but we are still miles away from calm and balance. Today everything also seems relatively zesty and I notice much more sherry influences. But I also find clear bourbon or distillate notes like ripe apples now and then. The malt obviously needs a lot of air, and I give the nose a full three points more today.
Вкус 83 The whisky also seems very young and rough in the mouth, with strong fruity notes, again red fruits that set the tone right from the start. They don't seem as artificial as they do on the nose. Clear honey sweetness goes well with the fruit acid. It dries out slightly towards the end, but there isn't much oak to be felt yet. The second sip reveals the immature or poorly integrated alcohol even more clearly, and after a few moments it also becomes noticeably bitter for a short time. However, this bitterness quickly disappears towards the end. Overall, the second sip is more harmonious. Very similar in the second tasting, but today it gets one point more in the mouth.
Финиш 84 The finish is rather short, initially carried by sweetness and acidity, and at the end somewhat bready. The chest area is noticeably warmed up. The finish of the second sip seems to be a little sweeter, and there is also a hint of eucalyptus here. At the second tasting, after everything is over, I have stale red wine on my tongue that had been rotting in the glass for at least three days.

The whisky elves Marco Bonn and Michel Reick bottled this 12-year-old whisky from a Speyside distillery. The piglet on the label (not my favorite label by the way) gives at least German-speaking whisky fans a clue to the Glenfarclas distillery. glen-efze.de

A very nice Glenfarclas for the cold season with lots of dark chocolate and mulled wine spices. But I remain more of a fan of the delicately matured Oloroso Glenfarclas.

This Glenfarclas whisky presents an unexpected, yet inviting sweetness that contrasts with the more typical Oloroso sherry influence. There is an unusual presence of Pedro Ximénez (PX) here, which gives the whisky a clear sweetness. There are sweet sherry notes on the nose, but still accompanied by nutty accents and a touch of earth. There are also fruity nuances of oranges and figs that enrich the bouquet. The taste is dominated by a rich sweetness, characterized by juicy, dried fruits such as dates, oranges and figs, accompanied by caramel and vanilla. The lingering finish leaves a pleasant memory of the unexpected but harmoniously integrated sweet and fruity aromas that make this Glenfarclas a special and sensual pleasure experience. The finish of this whisky is remarkably long and harmonious, perhaps its most striking feature. It delights with an abundance of sweetness, caramel and juicy fruits that pamper the palate long after consumption. This Glenfarclas whisky, selected by the whisky elves, offers a harmonious and well-rounded taste experience.
