Starts pretty good on the nose and on the palate, becomes a little bit herbal and probably a tad bitter in the end This one is probably a bit better than the previous 25yo limited release because of the nose and palate

N- Yes, salted caramel too at secondary layer, rather more obvious with leather spices bag which were also nicely nested with vast nuance of the liquorice, meaty and solid fermented sweet tobacco leaves. Feel greener and fresher, Togashi mix powder, earthy, sharp dried citrus with umami tinge. 3rd pressed tangerine water, light feint and sourness with malty and melon sweet. (90/22) P- Harmonized, charming sweet fruits with tobacco and creamy hot wash of malt. Subtle dryness lurking with sweet tobacco develop overtimes. Mellow. (87/21) F- Medium, nutmeg, molasses, gentle and mellow. Smooth nature, too smooth that missing the imposing aura. Good as it is but easily swamp by the lively 18YO. (87/21) B/B- 87/21 Weighted Rate- 85pt Cr-2, Fr-2, Fl-1, Pt-0, Ft-1, Sp-0, Wd-3, Wn-2, Sc-0 — at The Whisky Bar, Kuala Lumpur.

Evolution The 25 Year Old Glenrothes from the Soleo Collection is the oldest that is still affordable for mortal man, with a price tag – still hefty, to be sure – of around 300 EUR. The next one in the series is their 40 Year Old which will set you back some 3.000 EUR, so count your blessings. This 25 years old malt matured on sherry casks – hence Soleo, because that hints at the sun of Andalusia, where the casks are sourced. Ooh, that’s a delicious nose. Tropical fruit like oranges and quite a bit of pineapple, overripe bananas and blueberries. This is followed by freshly squeezed orange juice, plums and sniffing tobacco. Rose petal, cassis and a handful of nuts. If you give it your time (which I did), you’ll even discover some salted caramel, rose water and the juice of a pomelo. Very good! Good body. The sweet fruit is immediately supported by a lovely spiciness with cloves and nutmeg in the lead, followed by liquorice, vanilla and cardamom. This is quite nice. Evolves towards leather with a pinch of salt and chewing tobacco in the mix. Mildly drying towards the end. Good finish as well. While not very long, there is a lot going on. Leather, tobacco, plum marmalade, woodsmoke, sunflower oil and the juice of blood oranges. Compex and impressive Glenrothes if you take your time with it. It’s the evolution in the glass that makes me sit on the edge of my seat. Thanks, Timon, for the sample.

sherry on the nose, with cooked fruit, a pastry return, a little baked glue the mouth is more expressive with bourbon vanilla, the glue is still cooked, the almonds crushed, oozing, then toasted, a little bitterness spices with a little coriander, which amplify the aromas, sweet liquorice. the fruits are cooked, mixed in a compote "by the fire", a little quince, oranges with their zest. the wood is present, the nut too, the caramel vanilla. spicy, woody, vanilla finish, simple, but long and tenacious, which would have benefited from a smaller reduction.

Quite succulent and if you are a sherry-fiend this will be your thing. I certainly have good things to say about it but personally I would not pay this kind of price for a bottle of this kind. I do not know what proportion of the casks were first fill sherry but I didn't get a sense of any bourbon wood in the mix and if there are refill sherry casks the fruitiness they can bring seems to be subordinate to the tannic first fill portion.

Underrated whisky, great sherried whisky, match to a Glengoyne or Macallan, lots of ommnnff, raisins, dates, umami, soy sauce.

Wonderful, very fruity nose, it already shows its old age here. Unfortunately, the high level on the palate can't quite be maintained. He then lives more on the tannins and is a bit too weak. Still a nice whisky, of course.

The Glenrothes 25Y is amazing! This drink is complex and intelligent, very luxurious -a lot of things happening at the same time. Beautiful evolution in the mouth while drinking. Plum-tabac, warmth, prumes, overripe bananas, wet earth, spices, sweets and leather at the end. Wauw.

It needs time to open up, I like the smell quite a lot.

Very soft and creamy. I've never had this! Interesting and very balanced sweetness. I like it very much, but I find the price very ambitious.

Delicious it is, beautiful sherry freight, figs, dates and oak bitterness and spice, but many other whiskys have to offer. Unfortunately, he is then too heavily diluted with 43%, you can tell quite clearly. Price completely overambitious. A pity, Glenrothes.

Disappointing whisky. Although the nose is quite pleasant with strong sherry influence, the sulphury notes affect the positive impression. And the palate contains way too much of bitter oak (as for me). Although one can feel the maturity of this expression, the negative sides just pull the overall impression down. Modest ABV and a really high price in addition… no, I wouldn’t recommend this whisky for purchase.

Glenrothes 25 year old Soleo Collection 43% SSMSW. 30ml sample at home June 2022. Attractive two tone gold. If it’s unnaturally coloured then, fair play, they’ve foxed me. Aroma is mango, passionfruit, soft mustiness, light ginger ale, subtle caramels, light sherry, liquorice, fruit pastilles. This is a bit special on the nose, for me. Lots going on in an understated way, but not a single unpleasant or off note. Mid intensity - not an aroma bomb, but certainly not muted either. Body is watery. Taste is dark chocolate and char, lightly salted towards the finish. Very simple in the mouth. Burnt crackers. Softest apple in behind. Peppery finish and linger. Burnt spices. Not much going on on the palate. A little watery, with that building char. Pity it didn’t live up to the aroma. It’s a good whisky without doubt, but it’s as though it was blended through nosing only, without anyone tasting the result. Not that it tastes bad at all – it categorically doesn’t – but it’s just a bit underwhelming. £360 a bottle...Oof. 3.55/85

nice color, could be darker with good barrels and 25 years. Scent: surprisingly cautious, something in the background doesn't appeal to you (cardboard / glue?) Taste: unpleasant taste profile (difficult to describe), PX ?, watery, alcohol but poorly integrated despite only 43%, medium-long finish, no enjoyment, not again. Glenrothes is doing itself no favors with such below-average quality at a very ambitious price. There is no longer any interest in trying another bottling of the distillery. Too bad.

You can taste his age ... but could be a bit more complex. I do not agree with the distillery
