В аромате доминируют апельсин и мандарин, зелёное яблоко и косточковые фрукты, марципан и миндаль, мёд, ваниль и ирис, поверх которых ложатся табак, шоколад, смолистая древесина и тонкий вересковый дым Оркни; вкус плотнее и слаще — тёмные фрукты, вишня, инжир, кофе и сливки, пряности (мускатный орех, корица, имбирь, перец), выраженная дубовость и хересная маслянистость; послевкусие долгое, дымно-солёное, пряное, с горьковатой древесно-цитрусовой сухостью к концу. Хвалят за многослойность, округлость и баланс, за фирменный оркнейский характер; критикуют цену, слегка недостаточную телесность и нарастающую к финалу горчинку, а также за то, что виски раскрывается медленно и требует времени и внимания. Оценки очень согласованы: основная масса в диапазоне 90–93, редкие всплески до 94–95 и единичные занижения (85, 88). Опытные ревьюеры держатся плотно у 91–94 и подчёркивают, что 30-летний лишь ненамного превосходит 25-летний, а разлив крепостью 48,1% заметно выразительнее версии 45,7%; часть из них отмечает более тёмный, «хересный» тон и лёгкую горечь по сравнению со старыми партиями. Менее опытные оценивают чуть шире и эмоциональнее, но принципиальных расхождений в характеристике профиля между группами нет.

This is the result of an HP tasting yesterday:- 1st -highland-park-30-year-old 48.1% 2nd - highland-park-30-year-old 45.7% 3rd highland-park-25-year-old 48.1% 4th - highland-park-25-year-old 45.7% 5th - highland-park-18-year-old 43% 6th - highland-park-21-year-old 47.5% The 30 year 48.1% is the best but there is little between the 25 year and 30 year offerings.   The 18 year is good and better value than the 21 year.

Already has some, rather dark-sherry-like notes, more than the old HP 30s, it is less mine, bitternoten, especially towards the end, not at all. In itself, of course, a hammer whisky.

Aged in mostly first-fill Spanish and American oak sherry casks as well as refill casks, Highland Park 30 utilizes the distillery’s traditional 20% peated / 80% unpeated spirit.

A fine, perfectly balanced age whisky, good in all the components, the highest league; Unfortunately, it requires a certain approach, it does not reveal itself at once, exposing itself to the show (which is characteristic, in my opinion, for all HP products), it is necessary to sit quietly in silence, half-darkness, good music and leisurely to discover everything for yourself Its dignity, which makes it a bit difficult to get pleasure from the standard sawing 50-100ml. Molt is not to say what would be minimalistic, rather without extra details, only what is necessary and sufficient, gives rise to associations with classical interiors of the early 20th century - massive all-wood lacquered furniture, leather upholstery of sofas and armchairs, no artificial materials, soft muffled table lamp, muffled music.

Old and dignified with a wonderful idiosyncratic character! I've already had one or the other Highland Park in my glass, but this 30-year-old HP tells a wonderful story and I like to listen ... A great and multi-layered malt, I'm thrilled!

For my taste a malt near perfection. Wonderfully round, balanced and complex. Both in the nose, as well as absolutely convincing taste. The finish excellently for a malt of this age. That's quite a big movie showcasing Highland Park. The only downer here probably the price, as so often.

Overall, a decent, nice whisky. The relationship to 40 years and Thorfinn can be seen. However, he does not achieve both in terms of complexity. And especially not with regard to their sensory Wow! Effect. He is in my view, but at least better than the Ragnvald.

The smell is so complex that it sometimes overwhelms me. That makes him a chameleon and for me it's almost a bit of the good too much. The nice thing is that behind the barrel of Brennereicharakter still exists. The taste is as straightforward as it is usually the case. I really like the harsh orange. The finish is nice and long. A sophisticated whisky that demands attention. The complexity of barrel influence, the Brennereicharakter and the delicate smoke is challenging but also rewarding, if you take enough time. A great whisky

Had I tried it individually it would have been 94 points, but in direct comparison with the HP 1991, he has fallen off a bit. Nevertheless a toppaint!

From The Whisky Wash: Appearance: Burnished amber with copper highlights. Nose: Dried honeycomb, cedar, fresh flaxseed, dark chocolate, open meadows in springtime. Palate: Initial presence of oak rises into a crescendo of milk chocolate, honeysuckle, and campfire-toasted marshmallow. Waves of sweet scintillations radiate from the center of the mouth outwards, along with hints of oak. Ultimately, these glowing scintillations of flavor come to rest gently on the tip of the tongue. Expect a surprisingly long finish given the whisky’s delicate silky-smooth mouth feel. At the death, one is left with hints of oak, as well as marshmallow nougat.

A worthy representative of Highland Park. The nose is very intense, sherry, leather, tobacco. You can tell it's deep and old. On the palate, a delightful interplay of wood and vanilla. Despite its 45% alcohol content, it has a powerful, intense finish with a lingering aftertaste.

For me the best whisky of my life so far. Great complexity meets a flattering turnout, yet it has power! The subtle smokeiness with herbal notes expresses the unmistakable stamp of Highland Park. I have opened this whisky to my wedding and will enjoy a dram of it every wedding day, as much as I like it.

Purchased in 2018 so it must be the latest batch.  Very nice and refined, but I think the Highland Park 25 or Balvenie Tun 1509 batch no. 1 deliver similar for much less.

30 years of Highland Park, this is already a house number ... and also the current price ... I compared him in the comparison with the 25-year-old, but the older bottling with 48.1% and must say, that me the 25 year old but like better. Nevertheless, a great malt that wants to be enjoyed in peace and also needs a lot of air to breathe before he reveals his great flavors.

This one of my all time favorites. Honestly, if you see a review and it scores less than 92, question the palate of the reviewer. There are different versions of this bottle. If they look like this bottle, it is a 92 or better. For my palate I have never had one less than a 95. Note: There's some older releases that look similar without a holographic seal apparently. Most that you find nowadays should have the seal though.

@Gris: The same goes with way to much points. This is the really bad thing about whiskybase, but we will not be able to avoid it.

An excellent whisky, highly recommended! Nose: Powerful sweet beeswax from honeycombs with a light, pleasant spicy tartness, like an oriental spicy breeze from a sweets market in Cairo. Palate: The beeswax reappears, along with honey, candle, sandalwood, and a light bitterness that dances on the palate. Finish: Long and undulating, like a receding ocean tide. Score: 93.
