This unique taste of fresh kinda salty smoke is something great. It makes way for a fruity and taste with a white pepper tone. It is balanced, complex yet smooth. For me a very good combination. I added a point because the price is justified when on sale.

A delicious, soft, smoky whisky with predominantly sweet flavors. Excellent value for the price!

peat smoke sweetish

Taiska 10 years is my entry-level wine, which was not very acceptable at the beginning. Now it is a daily meal, and it drinks a lot. The wine is thick, complex and layered, and the price is within 200. It is a well-deserved sea king.

Decent dram. A perfect example of "engineered" malt. The character is not ironed to be absolutely forgettable, but it is not too exciting either.

One of the biggest disappointments of my recently opened bottles. Very constraint and doesn't really opens up, not even with water added. I blame the blatant use of colouring and the inactive casks this whisky matures on. Sure it is cheap, but I rather pay €10 more for a decent bottle, like an Ardbeg 10 or an Ledaig 10. Which are far better in smell and taste, presentation and honesty. IMO Diageo is taking the wrong route here and I've seen it with more bottlings recently.

Very good. Compared to Lagavulin it doesn't lose much. The price is the deciding factor if you need to buy it on sale!!

It's... fine. For the price: it's pretty good. Bonus point: Excellent shelf life. stays the same in an opened bottle for years. Then again, having it opened for years without finishing it maybe says something... Relatively distillate driven, I guess this distillate is not my cup of tea.

In a short time I had all the standards of Talisker in the glass and you can recognize the classic smell/taste of Talisker directly For me the price/performance ratio is unbeatable

The mother of all classics in a new jacket. But still just as tasty, the traditional pepper and maritime flavors. It is the whisky that adorns almost every menu, but it is and remains a topper.

In my eyes still a good malt, but compared to the previous version somehow softer and more boring, but at the same time more unbalanced in terms of the distillate. What used to be a peppery note of spices on the finish was more like a mixture of alcoholic afterburner (“hot spirit”) and ginger spiciness when I tasted it.

At this price point it's a very good choice. I would say almost a must-have.

A nice dram for in between. Good PLV. But where has the white pepper gone, which characterized earlier bottlings and made them interesting?

In Korea, it is considered one of the best entry-level whiskies for many people. It is the cheapest among coastal peat whisky distilleries (USD 45-50), but its complexity ranks high among entry-level whiskies. It is also called Diageo's last conscience. It is a drink that needs no further explanation. It is a truly great bottle in every aspect, including price, accessibility, taste, representation, and highball usability. Personally, among coastal distillery peat whiskies, I consider it a whisky with a very distinct seafood and ocean flavor along with Glen Scotia, Bowmore, and Octomore (Brookladdie), and I have some doubts about whether this guy with such a strong seaweed flavor can be used as a peat entry-level whisky. In any case, it is a good drink that many people seek out and like. It is a poor friend who is treated poorly because it is too common.

Sea breeze, oysters, gentle peat, smoke

My perception changed according to the volume within the bottle. Full bottle (just opened) highly phenolic. Half bottle (three weeks later) it became salty and kippery.

Good little peaty dram.

Personally, I really liked this whisky. I can immediately recall such a variety of flavors, very harmonious, balanced and tasty, in only three whiskys, including this one. Holds one of the first places in my personal top on par with Lagavulin 16 and Laphroaig 10.

Appearance: Bright gold.Palate: Rich, sweet dried fruit, smoke, and intense malt flavors, warm and robust, with a peppery finish.Nose: Powerful peat smoke with hints of sea salt and fresh oysters, complemented by subtle citrus sweetness.

I really like the mix of light peatiness with salty, shore air and sea weeds. And yes, the pepper... As it says on it's box...and IMHO, this is the best bang for the buck in the whisky world! Period!

The flavor is balanced and smooth, without the intense smokiness of Islay. It's the peat-inspired wine I discovered years ago, beginner-friendly!

Distinctive maritime with smoke, bourbon sweetness and occasional seaweed, though the saltiness is much subtler than I first remembered. The palate feels relatively thin and the finish short by my current standard. Still a useful reference for Talisker's house style, but one I have outgrown.

The newer bottling has increased for me in terms of smoke, I also find it more maritime and pleasing. The aromas run through like a red thread. Always good the Talisker 10, shouldn't be missing in the bar - 05/25/2022

Must have. Very intense and complex whisky as for the price.

Batch: L3004CM031 00003564 I bought it around June 2022, probably one of the first bottlings under the new label. Despite the new label, this specific batch still feels pretty much the same as the old label. I've heard that is not the case anymore, as newer batches have changed the liquid quite dramtically and now it resembles the NAS releases. RIP Talisker 10. At this point in time, there is literally no Talisker that I actually like. What a disaster.

The aroma is powerful, smoky, pungent, fire (burnt match), sea, minerals, salt, fish scales. Taste - sea, salt, minerals, fish/oysters, notes of peat, ash, As usual, upon opening the bottle the drink is very bright and distinctive. After standing for a while it will become smoother and more drinkable. Both conditions are very good! An excellent whisky, typical and indicative of the distillery. Its notes are found in almost all of the distillery's other releases.

Stark warmth, distant campfire, lightness amid nearly bitter taste. A lot of citrus and bitter gumminess, honeydew and a pinch of salt.

This one is not for me. i did not like it.

It used to be a no-go malt for me, today it's almost pleasing. Is it me or the malt? Who knows. Still, what you get here for cheap money is fantastic. Nice peat, fruit, a bit salty maritime, citrus and I think that's where the complacency really comes from, embedded in a bed of vanilla oak. Nice whisky.

Very good whisky. Somedays I specifically crave Talisker, other days it is unbearable. It is not a daily drinker for me, but still a must have.

Still a very competent and flavorful ambassador of Skye, even though there's a bit of character lost through the years. Dry, peaty and fresh nose with some honey blossom, gentian, white pepper and a hint of strawberry and muscovado sugar in the background. Spicy attack on the palate, not really the famous chilli catch but rather ginger, vanilla and some clove from active wood. Not sure if Talisker really needs that, I could do without it and just enjoy the characterful distillate with its peppery vegetability, flinty minerality and salty sea shore profile with whelks and citrus fruits. Medium finish. Still good and still a steal for 30 EUR, but the times they are a-changin'...

Too watery and not impacted

You have to drink a lot for its true value to come out.

N,T,F: Another spirity release, but with no less depth than the last disappointing purchase in 2024 - the malty caramel and toasted smoke element bringing some joy beyond the most youthful 10yo spirit they, Diageo, can spare. C: Disappointing given comparison to a bottle bought in the same year [without the mug presentation pack]: WLP289. Recommended only when on offer, at best, but given Talisker 10 has been so batch-dependent of late, I wonder when I’ll purchase another. 83/84

Still very good value for your money!!!

For me simply a bank and the best standard around 30 euros. I can't get much more for the money. Note: I don't usually do it, but in this case I took the price into account in the evaluation, since one can speak of a really grandiose PLV here.

Nose: salty sea wind, campfire smoke, spices, pepper and alcohol hit the nose, citrus fruits, orange peel, grapefruit, after a while it becomes even more marine. Taste: Smoky, salty, coal, herbal, dirty, vanilla, burnt caramel, tart and bitter, spices. Finish: short, vanilla, tart wood, bitter, tart nuts, a bit of smoke and grating in the throat, some slightly noticeable smoke somewhere in the background.

The epitome of introduction to pit. I think it's good to feel the peat because it has not too much iodine, salty peat and smokiness together.

The score is high because of price , avaliability and increased quality of this classic. This one coming closer to DE and Much better than previous design bottles i tasted, 2017-2020. Clearly casks was improved.

People are scared to rate a high score just because it's cheap and is available in the supermarket

Sweet peat smoke with maritime notes, salty, sea spray, orange oils, lemon grass, touch of smoke, peaty, honey malt, vanilla, peppers . Having done a three way comparison with this version, a 1995, 2010 bottling I feel they all very different with perhaps more character and complexity, funkier flavours like farmyard, leather, smoke, malty oak, and pepper in earlier bottlings . This one is more fresh and fruit forward which is also quite pleasant Views are that the casks were fresher in older versions .. will never know.

On first opening, this batch betrays a little too much of its new make days for its age. Then there’s [what seems like] the previous [syrup-forward] contents of the cask rather than the cask itself and the effects of. It took six months for the components to come together. Now richer, creamier even, towards the heel we see red-wine vinegar, sweet brine, shoe-polished leather, cheap fruity beer, radish into parsnips, decidedly salty peppered peated maltiness [and smoked olives] for a more savoury and accomplished take than first assumed. Loitering in & around various flavour camps without fully committing to any one in particular brings varied appreciation and perspective from those I shared this bottle with. T: Very different to my last bottle, this batch lacks similar depth & composure whilst continuing to offer general appeal. It’s not lacking power per se, but clarity and carry. Fruity [grape-y] syrup-seasoned casks seem quick to show their hand once again; the malt and phenols soon follow with a willingness towards a vegetal waxiness, not to mention a passing strawberry shortbread reference. A slightly gacky cask-forward affair creates undesiciveness over whether this is sweet or savoury when in fact it’s both [at this stage], especially given all that salt & peppered grapey phenolicness – quite the balancing act. F: Not a great deal, but it’s at least established a salty savoury vegetal route home now the syrup qualities have waned. After a passing clove note, we return to barley [sugar], which demonstrates that all the components are there if only missing the more usual high-level choreography. C: As a well-priced [when on offer, location,… ] entry-level single malt with an age statement and healthy strength, Talisker 10 remains the ever-convincing proposition. That this particular bottle didn’t fare well compared to other malts I paired it with [in its class], let alone compared with the last two bottles, reminds us of the batch nature of single malt whisky, regardless of the size of the operation. Remembering that Diageo and its 30+ distilleries have orders of 20 million cases of JW to fulfil every year, I can only imagine what a juggling act it must be, making sure all the pieces fall in place to meet commitments to the blends alongside single malt production at the same time. As a consumer and long-time fan of Talisker and its core range 10, I won’t be replacing this bottle as readily [as the Arran 10, for example], but it’s only a matter of time.

Round and ballanced! Nice peaty flavour

Feels a bit peatier than past bottlings of Talisker 10. The typical peppery notes are there. But there is also something rougher about this one, like the casks are tired and it’s coming up bland for me now. I’ve always liked the Talisker variation on Islay peat, but I don’t think this is a bottling I’ll be getting anymore.

New packaging (since I bought a bottle for the last time), new recipe? I’ve been offered two 2cl samples that I took some serious time with at 2 completely different moments. Here’s my thoughts…

Definitely a good whisky. Medium smokey with maritime notes and its typical pepperiness. But in the with its good but few flavours only two dimensional.

The colour looks pretty much the same. You never know, it could have improved! N: I don’t remember Talisker being this peaty nor with this attributed level of controlled spiciness though I’m not complaining. Certainly a youthful/spritely 10yo, we are talking malt, salt, and peat, seasoned with seaweed crisps, sage, and brine and with a lively fruity-ish < vegetal zing beyond anything found in the normally recognised food realm, sweet < savoury/mineral, a little dirty/soot, peppery,… No doubt I will have more descriptors for you on the palate, the notes of which will be interchangeable. What’s not to like? Really, we are flying. T: In agreement with GWhisky, I find this favourably rugged & forward. Straight up, we’ve a saltiness nearing back-in-the-day Old Pulteney levels [if far gentler and sweeter] before a development of briny dry peat, coal [tar], sooty gravy with zesty caramel into ginger butterscotch honeycomb, and a hint of medicinal spearmint=pecan freshness. This fresh/vibrant sweet-savoury-to-sour profile goes through a number of staggeringly regulated shifts in the middle stages which are easy to follow and joyous to experience. F: While I’m not wildly enthusiastic about food-pairing whiskies, do try this with mixed unsalted nuts – brazils. almonds, cashews, and pecans especially. That aforementioned bold phenolic spicy freshness seems determined to hang around, though ultimately, it softens/falls away towards phenolic barley sugar, finishing in a coppery organic malty seaweed/kale/roasted brussel sprout bundle with a little liquorice, wood-tannic plastics,… mainly with deep-ashy Longrow-like phenolics lingering. C: As Ralfy tells us, Talisker has been through a bad patch ever since Storm et al were introduced. Whereas the 10yo was generally variable [in my book], the now-discontinued 57° North [see pic] and the overnight hyper-inflated 18yo remained/remain absolute crackers if now unreasonably attainable. Finished in just two months, honestly, I don’t remember Talisker 10 ever being this good. I’ve seen it recently for just €30 so stock up! Scores 89 points [going on 92+ in 2050] Impossible musical/whisky pairing: Talisker 10 with Louis Armstrong live in Berlin 1965.

Confected, commercial whisky. Very well constructed with (to my mind) the perfect balance of peat and sweet sherry. Even the price and colour are just right. BUT there's nothing of the original distillate, no complexity or length to it. A whisky perfectly designed by AI to be 'nice' , yet also boring.

This is the single malt whisky that introduced me to whisky. It has the taste of the ocean. In China, they are readily available, and in various capacities. The prices are very reasonable. The market is very competitive.

One of my favorites. Smoky, maritime, seaweed, vanilla, apples and pears, black pepper, mineral. One sip leads to another.

"Made by the Sea." You understand this advertising slogan after the first sip. Talisker doesn't just taste maritime – it tastes as if someone poured seawater onto a gas grill and distilled the rising smoke. The current batch is pleasingly classic. The nose is exceptionally well-executed and surprisingly clean for 45.8% ABV. No harsh alcohol, but plenty of sea air, smoke, and a pleasant freshness. However, disappointment sets in on the palate. After a surprising alcoholic sharpness, the whisky feels somewhat thin overall. The actual aromas give way to the unusually elusive smoke, which dominates. The rest plays a supporting role. Talisker remains Talisker. But sometimes I do wonder how good this whisky would be without chill filtration, without coloring, and with a few extra turns at cask strength.

Fishy, salty, briny, mineralic, malty. Black pepper, more spices, barley sugar, chocolate, earthy peat, oranges, apples. A touch more savoury than older bottlings, but excellent as ever.

And old love in a new dress. Talisker 10 yo 2012 was my first peated whisky and this new bottling gives a fair share, but stay a bit behind year 2012.

Less elegant than it used to be; it's sweeter than I remember, and the peat is now accompanied by - but this is just my guess - a little heavier charred casks, which gives the impression of more smokiness. But actually, it's less smoky / maritime / "volcanic" than I remember. Still a decent dram, and if Diageo could drop the chill filtering and the caramel, it would be a very good one, especially considering the price.

Bottled in 2024, a very balanced entry-level wine

Talisker Aged 10 Years, SMSW, 45.8%. 50ml sample from a Diageo tasting set, consumed June 2025. I had assumed this would be a recent bottling but it states “The only distillery on the Isle of Skye” on the label, which places this around 8 years old in theory. Lot coded L1292IW002 016799. Dull orange and declared to be “mit farbstoff”. Aroma of rust, some bacon frazzle crisps at times – showing up then disappearing again. Lots of rust. Maybe purple/brown seaweed. Body is lightly oily. Taste is old wood, hints of rock salt, becoming hot and spicy into the finish and a little tart – again rusty and dry, tangy redcurrant and the distinctive chili pepper note. The chili note in Talisker 10 and the DE is just not for me but I did get on with this a bit better than I normally do this time. 3.4/81

A great whisky for this price

The characteristics of this good whisky are stated on its box. Sweet, Smoke, Peat, Pepper and I would like to add sea air and salty sea water. The nose, palate and finish are unique. Well recommended!

With Lagavulin 16yo now premiumised, this is now the go-to malt when you find yourself out & about [limited]. This typical experience only goes to further highlight where Waterford is in comparison to the global standard fare. Waterford is making cracking whisky and their journey has only just begun. It's a classic for a reason - those salty coastal notes are just so unique and characterful. This is a great intro to peat as well, since it lacks so many of those "off-putting" tarry, industrial notes that a lot of Islays have and some find challenging. Nice clean and mild smoke. It’s not overly complex and the bottle hasn’t changed much in the year it’s been open, but the flavors that are there are punchy, fun, and complimentary. Great whisky that’s carved out its own little flavor niche, readily available at a fair price to boot.

Classic Since the arrival of Torabhaig, Talisker can no longer call itself 'The Only Distillery on Skye'. So they renewed the packaging and are now 'The Oldest Distillery on Skye'. Let's see if this new batch still produces such a beautiful malt. Yes... That nose is still absolutely amazing: pepper, salt and peat with a nice touch of oyster juice and citrus fruit, unripe banana and a bonfire on the beach. Whopper of a classic, right? Silky soft on the tongue, wood and oranges in front, immediately followed by a big surge of the pepper. Then the typical salty notes appear that are immediately pushed away by sweet notess. Red apples, citrus fruit, nice and bright and accessible, but very typical of the house. That's the way it should be! The finish puts a blissful smile on my face: this is coming home. For years, the Talisker 10 has been untouchably tasty and affordable and therefore a must-have in every whisky cabinet. Thank you for the sample, Pat!

After opening the bottle, it was too young and simple. I gave it a few months to breathe, and it became closer to its original composition. There's not a lot of variety in the notes, but everything is fairly balanced and there's a decent depth to the flavor. 20 22 21 20

цвет приятный оттенок, темнее чем многие другие виски. на запах конечно аптека, но. довольно интересная. хотя она даёт тебе предвкушение чего-то мерзкого, что тебя вывернет наизнанку. но! такого не проиходит. пъётся он очень здорово. да обжигает и щипит, но приятно. о спиртуозности и речи нет. послевкусия я не нашёл, но и противности нет никакой. прям таки очень интересно и достойно. иногды бывает с горечи, или по другому поводу, хочется принять на грудь как говорится, беленькой выпить водочки. так вот мне показалось что это могло бы быть очень здоровской альтернативой. то-есть я бы его для кайфа и отдыха для себя врятли взял, а вот под настроение иметь у себя в кладовке и не гнушаться пригубить когда требует нутро, самое-то. в общем даст фору многим недымным. ставлю зачёт

The Talisker 10-YO remains one of the decent classics and the 2021 edition still lives up to the name. With it's profound Gold Amber Color, notes of seaside, leather, pepper and smoke it can be easily distinguished. Adding a few drops of water opens up more of the smokiness of this dram on the Nose reminding of Newly Lit Charcoal.

New version of Talisker 10 is not worse then its ancestor. Still marine, rich and tasty!
