There is a slight bitterness, but it blends nicely with vanilla, toffee and plum fruit. A faint smoke lingers. Sea salt. More carnation. |

Nice basic Campbeltown whisky: value for money! Honey-smooth and fine weekday dram.
Good to start your adventure with Glen Scotia, feel youthful, a little untamed
On the nose, a green apple, fruit lollipops, and baked goods. After breathing in, a light floral-brass note remains. It tastes like roasted nuts, coffee notes, fruity candies. The taste is expectedly weaker than the aroma. Although it is NAS, there is no alcohol content and it is easy to drink. The aftertaste is surprisingly good and stays on the tongue longer than expected. I would call this whisky smooth, balanced, without obvious failures. At the same time, there is nothing outstanding here either. This is just good whisky at a fair price, perfect to drink with friends

It's a brackish experience without interference from anything else. Unfortunately, it's not worth it here in Brazil, unless you want to try a non-alcoholic, brackish whisky. Interesting.

Malt, plastic, campfire smoke, also medicinal; oops, I like it! Slightly spicy, hence the vanilla sweetness with caramel and sugar. Citrus with pineapple and apricot. Take anova wood. Virtually no alcohol, and the smoke delicately permeates everything; If you inhale it well, it contains alcohol, but it is not harmful, it is spicy like Syrian pepper with capers. With water: plastic, yellow fruity, light and pleasant smoke. Pleasant spicy, with malt and cereals. On the rocks: creme de cassis, pineapple, smoke but like fruit in one, vegan barbecue. Vanilla, white sugar and alcohol-free. |

Dry, none of the sultry aroma. Dried vanilla, new wood, cooked vegetables and, unfortunately, no peat. Slight spiciness but without the burn of alcohol; a merit. With water it released some of the vanilla, but it remains dry. Zero alcohol. Rice cooked with vegetables, with a pinch of salt. With ice it is dry, there are hints of fruit, but everything was cooked with salt. I liked the peat in the aroma. |

Medium to long, tannic, cooked vegetables. I remember that here at Whiskybase there is the option of cooked rice, it seems like that is what it is hahaha. |
Peated Glen Scotia matured exclusively in first fill ex-bourbon casks. At around 25-30 euro is neither excellent nor bad as an entry level malt. Better on the nose than on the palate.

Fresh and fruity on the nose. Simple and pleasant but a bit reserved. Vanilla, coconut, pears, apples, ripe pineapple and fresh wood. After some minutes on the glencairn appears a salty/earthy note. |

Lightly creamy, good mouthfill for a 40% abv whisky. Fruity (apples and pears), salty, earthy, vanilla and a cardboardy off-note (I usually find it in young whiskies). |

Medium to short finish. Light oakiness and some honey. |
Aroma: Vegetal and mineral, with grain notes, hay, a touch of dessert-like sweetness, vanilla, caramel, a coastal mineral quality reminiscent of a gentle sea breeze, and a faint hint of bonfire smoke in the background Taste: Very mild and softly sweet, with vanilla and vegetal notes, quickly shifting into distinctly coastal flavours, a sea-breeze character with light bonfire smoke in the background, the finish fades nicely, lightly spicy and coastal Overall Impression: A decent whisky at a good price, pleasantly composed through its mix of coastal, sweet, and subtly smoky notes
Kind of tasty, but too little of everything. Alcohol too, you can see the 40%.
Introduction Campbeltown Harbour is a NAS-expression from the Glen Scotia distillery, matured on first fill bourbon casks – which explains the color. My dear friend Nadine offered me the sample. The nose is very friendly with lots of sweetness from baked apples and even some candied oranges with a touch of caramel and smoke in the background. Very approachable, maybe even a tad easy. The body if unfortunately very light. Again relatively sweet on apples, caramel and digestive biscuits. The smoke is rather subtle, making it an easy malt on the palate as well. I do like the salty edge that appears midpalate. And there is also a light pepper… yes, from the second sip forwards this becomes interesting. The finish is medium long, on soft smoke and some sweetness as well as a peppery prickle. Very accessible Glen Scotia, making for a good introduction into the house style.
A bit of everything w/o doing anything extraordinary - which is to be expected from such a nas entry bottling. Works as an introduction to peated malts, no off notes except maybe seems rather young if you want to hold it against it... ;-) Maybe a good pick for a slightly peated malt (at a fair price around 35 EUR in '22) in a beginners' tasting?
Soft and comfortable feeling, not worth the money
That one is going to be missed. I used to have it as an entry for peated whisky degustation, as a preparation for my palate, as it was so gentle, almost neutral, but still one that is going to push you find more in the next drams. N: Polite and gentle, marine, sweet, yellow peaches, soft vanilla, a note of a harbour smoke. Glen Scotia style of a spirit. 82/100 T: Starts soft with yellow peaches again and white pepper, but then there is a phenolic note and subtle smoke, a little more aggressive. 80/100 F: Half medium, yellow peaches, white pepper. 80/100 Very gentle notes all the way. Not a one to finish the night, but a nice one to start with.
700ml/¥2980@ Liquor Mt. Appearance: Medium amber. Nose: Light smoke, toffee and vanilla, bit of brine. Malt biscuits. Bit of apple and stone fruit, but not much. Palate: More campfire smoke, caramel, biscuits, malt sugar, salt, bit of apple. Finish: Honey, vanilla, light oak, smoke and pepper. Not particularly long but not bad. With Water: Smoky, sweet, peppery. Overall: This is an easy, very likable whisky and really a decent intro to Campbeltown, as it fits the style but does so in an easy way. Goes down too easy maybe. It has enough complexity to keep me interested, despite the young age, and was a fantastic bargain at this sale price.
Matured in first fill bourbon casks.

The positive thing is that the distillery character clearly comes into play here. If you want to get to know Glen Scotia in its purest form at a very acceptable price, you will definitely find it here. However, the probably very young barrels lead to a certain dissonance in my mouth with unfortunately a clear sprightliness despite a boring 40% and metaliness. It lacks character, surprise and richness of aroma. Still nice. Certainly not wrong for beginners to discover Campbeltown Malts
The whisky is pleasant and perfectly drinkable, not too complex. I enjoy its salty character (comparable to Old Pulteny or Talisker 10, yet less smoky). Whisky is little thin on the palette but the taste is quite enjoyable. Salty, fruity, woody with little spice. Overall a very pleasant dram that would probably benefit from being 46% ABV.

This has to be the shittiest whisky I've tried in month (if not years). Nose: Green Apple - not a hint of smoke Mouth: with alot air you get hints of apple chest and some vanilla but god forbid you swallow ... Finish: tastes like Scotia burned human feces or plastic instead of peat to dry this. Holy mother of [something] its bitter, its bad and its so bad its already funny. I rate with 5 points and this scored an easy 1/5 - but as there are some malts worse than this it got 19 points. Video on my German YT channel: ?v=Nn3v67-vieI
A fine introduction to the Glen Scotia range, although the minimal ABV diminishes some of its potential, but perhaps that was always the idea to lower the bar a bit for those unfamiliar with Glen Scotia or Campbeltown as a whisky region. What I don’t fully understand, is why this is similarly priced to the Double Cask, which I feel has more to offer.

fresh fruit straight off the bat. Apples, melon, white stone fruit and orange peel. Some salty notes balancing out the sweetness from honey, icing sugar and vanilla which almost goes into a sweet cheese/custard note. Underneath there’s a grassy, funky signature Campbeltown note, although it’s hidden a bit. Well balanced this, quite straightforward, but pleasant and engaging. |

salty notes are leading the way. Sea spray indeed. The fruit is less outspoken, although there’s no mistaking the apple notes here. Mid palate it becomes a bit thin and slightly watery on the mouthfeel – must be the minimal ABV, but it bounces back quite well towards the finish with a peppery and savoury-herbaceous note. |

The finish continuous on this salt and pepper, herbaceous note. It’s short to medium long and drying towards the end. Only now I’m getting hints of a gentle ashy peat note. |
Nice notes on the nose, later a disappointment.

Fruit and mineral, with the aroma of orange, vanilla, sea spray and gentle haze, the taste is slightly sweet with sourness, with hints of fruit marmalade, oranges and cookies, a medium-length finish, with notes of baking and oranges. Quite a nice malt for very understandable money, the average level of quality of the base GS releases is quite high. RATING: 83pts - [n21, t20, f21, b21] → | 83-85: Decent |
