Quick hit review. We don't say 'no' to a free sample, even if it is Bowmore. Not that I have high hopes, but let's get on with it. Clean, almost sterile, the nose offers mossy peat smoke, honey and a touch of brine. The sweet arrival is pushed aside by mineral peatiness, peppery spices and notes of exhausted refill casks. Overbrewed tea, dry tannins and hints of salt fade in the thankfully short finish. It is as bland and sanitized as I remembered it, a cheap discount Islay malt. RATING: 2.7/5.0 stars ≙ 76 pts → SUBPAR [+]

Always good. The typical Bowmorerauch, slightly floral notes, salt, toffee, oak, a bit musty. Compared to older bottlings, I think this is darker, oakier, less fruity and a bit smokier.

To me this tastes like what was in the wood box in my childhood home, next to the fireplace: dried American oak. There is some fruit and smoke but the cask was too active. I look forward to tasting a bowmore with a less active cask

For me, the Bowmore 12 represents one of the best standards. Not too complex, but fruity, smoky, sweet, no annoying junk and delicious. A few Vol.% Would do him good, but for less than 30 ¬ is an excellent PLV for a really good malt.

This Bowmore is a great whisky. It will not be so considered by connoisseurs but I like it very much, so full of different scents and yet so balanced. Is it just a coincidence that the property is Japanese?

nose: vanilla, lemon, cold smoke, spices, red fruits very velvety, honeyed, malty, dry wood, a little damp pebble mouth: spices, malted velvet, candied fruits, a little caramel, packaged country honey, the fine smoke appears, more ashy and cold, orange, red, candied fruits on a blended variation in fact with undifferentiated fruits, spices and alcohol in return for a warm finish final: spicy, smoky, fruity, malty, cocoa and creamy, sweetness that holds despite only 40 °, ah a few degrees more and we would have a perfect dram starter.

By no means a whisky that will blow your mind but it this is a good introduction to smoky whiskies for beginners. Peat smoke that does not punch you in the face. Wonderful balance in aroma, taste and finish.

Нос 85 There is always that Bowmore light smoke with honey, toffee, old book pages, some spice, new wood, felt tip pen, grassy notes and a little citrus in the background.
Вкус 87 It has been a long time since I tried this and to me it's still solid. The standard is still there. My brother loves this because of the light peat, fruit and honey. There is a good balance in there of what average joe and seasoned whisky drinker loves.
Финиш 86 The peat just sprinkles itself on the back of the tongue with a pinch of salt.

Perfectably serviceable but not very exciting (I get more excitement waiting to see if the trains are running or on strike again). Much better drams out there, but a good entry level for those afraid of a proper Islay dram.

Нос 82 Play-doh that has been left outside whilst the neighbour has a bonfire - smoked wheat.
Вкус 81 The mouthfeel is light - very little body to it - the taste is quite sweet with hardly any smoke, but a slightly unpleasant acidic taste at the death - like reflux after eating too many wine gums.
Финиш 80 Medium with a note of acid reflux at the death - like it's trying to wipe its feet on your tongue.

Aroma: very delicious aroma of tropical fruit, dark honey, candy, lavender, slightly spicy with burnt wood Taste: very mild to watery, spicy, sweet, slightly smoky with a lavender sweet finish It's a bottle I would bring to a cottage or just somewhere to visit with consumers who aren't completely knowledgeable about whisky.

Нос 92 In the nose a very varied, diverse aroma bundle. Smoke and earthy notes dominate, but next to it - and with every dram a little different oak and malt, and in the background the sea, sherry, citrus and also vanilla and maybe honey. Excellent. Well balanced. A lot of quality for relatively little money. I have now carefully tasted about 15 to 20 whiskys (in the price range up to 45 euros) but this one will remain on my list to buy for the time being.

Bowmore, the oldest distillery on Islay, a distillery that has created legendary whiskys and today is an example of the wretchedness of corporate whiskys: the whiskys are colored to the point of death, the No.1 Vaults below sea level are printed on every bottle mentioned, in which only the smallest percentage of Bowmore whiskys can be stored and instead of advertising with integrity, one suggests luxury by advertising with Aston Martin. And so this 12-year-old also has a color as if it came from the finest sherry casks - of which he has seen as little as from the No.1 Vaults - and offers no more than the minimum strength of 40% vol. N- Identical soft ashy bonfire notes but with more prominent resinous and rubber smokes. Not as palmy, instead more juicy canned fruit and apricot, fruity punch bowl with smokes vanilla, baked oyster shell P- Notably more balance on Syringol and Guaiacol compounds on the blend. Fruity with smokes subsides overtimes and saltiness emerged. Ashy from a distant. Wee light mouthfeel.F- Medium, nice olive brine, peppery spicy, cardboard and candy floss. — at The Whisky Bar, Kuala Lumpur.

Нос 81 Soft combination of the sea (salty, seaweed), with a soft smoke fire. Light fruit hint. Very subtle in everything.
Вкус 83 Fruit sweetness initially, something of apricot. As longer in your mouth real Islay taste. Smokiness / Peat and incidence increases per second. Develops nicely despite low abv
Финиш 85 As you hold it longer in your mouth and "chew" it, the finish becomes more intense and smoky. Low abv plays a negative role in keeping your mouth for a short time: 75. Score for finish is for passing through your mouth for longer.

Color – amber. The aroma is sweet, toffee, zest and fresh. The taste is strong at the beginning and becomes soft. Dried fruit, peat in the background, smokiness and smoke.

Peated water left in an infuser bottle overnight with some tropical fruits. Too light and watery to give you a true representation of the heft and power of a typical Islay malt. Not bad for a budget malt, but don’t go into it with high expectations. Edit - getting down to the last few drams in the bottle I feel the need to drop a few points off. Heavy grapefruit flavours are making this less enjoyable
