Суммаризация отзывов
В семи текстовых отзывах повторяются несколько мотивов. Зерновой компонент заметен: [r1] отмечает «grain up front», [r3] говорит о «lots of grain», [r6] — о «clear hints of the grain whisky», при этом [r2] считает, что «the grain doesn't bother you». Дым и соль описываются как лёгкие: [r2] называет бленд «slightly smoky», [r3] — «a faint smoke», [r6] — «a very light touch of smoke and a pinch of salt», [r7] — «light peated smoke». Сладость и фруктовость упоминаются в [r1] («sweeter than I expected, creamy vanilla»), [r4] («ripe apricot and chocolate pear», «fresh figs»), [r5] (сухофрукты, мёд, ваниль), [r6] («very sweet and spicy with a truckload of caramel») и [r7] (спелые фрукты, груши, мёд). Финиш: [r1] — «rather short», [r6] — «rather short on vanilla and soft peat smoke», [r7] — «short finish»; [r5] — «stable but not so long», тогда как [r4] называет финиш «successful finish for such a low alcohol content». Оценки в текстах расходятся: от 75 у [r3], который называет результат «a disappointment» и «bog water», до 83 у [r4] и [r5]. [r5] прямо сравнивает с 8-летним и находит 12-летний «more balanced» и «smoother and more complex», а [r3] предполагает, что 8-летний может быть лучше. Несколько отзывов характеризуют виски как простой, но приятный: [r1] — «Passable budget blend», [r6] — «pleasant, but far too simple», «Nice blend to put on the table during a summery barbecue, but little more», [r7] — «a simple, but good blend with good balance between sweetness and peat». [r2] и [r5] оценивают его положительно без оговорок о простоте. Таким образом, в текстах видно согласие по лёгкому дыму, соли, сладости и короткому финишу, но оценки и отношение к простоте различаются.

My initial nosing was grain up front with some Sherry, sea salt and slight vanilla. After tasting, I started to pick up some fruitiness. Palate is sweeter than I expected, creamy vanilla and slight spice. Finish is rather short. Passable budget blend

Nice, slightly smoky blend. The grain doesn't bother you. The malt content seems high. Tasty and pleasant.

When I started my whisky journey 10 years ago I had the Isle of Skye 8 year old and enjoyed it. Now a thousand whiskies later I've cracked open the 12 year old. And what a disappointment! A faint smoke, very hard to detect the Isle of skye feel. Lots of grain, which is ok if the peat would assert itself, but it doesn't. It just tastes of bog water. So is my disappointment just a reflection of the fact that my palate has changed and my expectations has risen? Yes, probably, but I suspect that the Isle of Skye 8 might actually be better because the 8 year old might be rougher, which in this case is good thing because it would allow the peat to assert itself more and not just become a weak component in the overall flavour profile.

We have the costal profile of the Talisker, but much less pronounced, the tide, the spray, the foam, a certain salinity, but rather on a very calm and windless beach. It's rounder, more fruity, mellow, on ripe apricot and chocolate pear. On the palate, still quite smooth, with fresh figs, little peat and iodine. Finally a successful finish for such a low alcohol content, pretzels, pine cones, nuts and fine sand. A little smoky side, a chimney that has just gone out. I didn't really smell the Sherry, but I guess it gives body and fruitiness. https://ilikesky2020.blogspot.com/2021/11/isle-of-skye-12-yo.html

Smooth and tasty blend. Of course I compare it to 8 years old and find it more balanced. All components (flavor, taste, finish) are really smoother and more complex. It makes this whisky tasty, elegant and attractive! I agree that it is possibly not so complex but definitely pleasant!

Нос 86 Sharp notes of grain alcohol, sea, salt, raisins, boiled dried fruits (apple, pear, plum), nutmeg, caramel and tiny spices and smoke at the end. Everything is wrapped into delicate and light sherry and oak wood tones.
Вкус 86 Little bit dry, light sweet fresh fruits, flowers, elements of new wood. Then appears light hints of sea salt followed by vanilla and liquid honey (but not so sweet).
Финиш 76 Slightly warming and full of different dried fruits, nuts (mostly hazelnut) with touches of salty sea breeze. Stable but not so long. Empty dram keep flavor of wet old wood for a long time.

Charred Wood Isle of Skye is a blend that is composed with malts from the Speyside and Island regions (and grain), but because of the name, I think it’s fair to presume there is some Talisker in their as well. A bottle costs only 35 EUR, so curb your enthusiasm. Judging by the color, quite a bit of sherry matured whisky went into the mix. At first, the nose offers clear hints of the grain whisky. Nothing wrong with that, if it weren’t for the fact that the malts have all the trouble in the world of shining though. I get some vanilla, honey, toasted oak with baked pears and overripe fruit. A very light touch of smoke and a pinch of salt is all that points in the direction of Talisker. Some oriental spices. All in all a pleasant, but far too simple nose. The arrival is mildly oily. It is immediately very sweet and spicy with a truckload of caramel but hardly any fruit. I do get some more smoke – salty peat, shall we say? – and more spices and something that reminds me of charred wood. The finish is rather short on vanilla and soft peat smoke. Just a tad too sweet to my taste. Nice blend to put on the table during a summery barbecue, but little more.

Sweet, ripe fruits, a little bit salt, pears, light smoke, spices and honey notes on nose. Sweet fruits, light peated smoke, salt, spices, dried fruits and honey notes on palate. It starts with sweetness and goes to peat. Vanilla, light peated smoke, sweet fruits on short finish. It’s a simple, but good blend with good balance between sweetness and peat. The perfect choice to drink with the friends on picnics.
