Another very good batch, a 'strong' peat whisky for those on a budget. With a cask mix of still 90% ex-bourbon / 10% ex-sherry (since batch #7), they have found their blend, and they won't be deviating from it easily in the future, as I was told at the distillery last year when I inquired.

This has the potential to be a great dram with a pleasant nose and texture, but then the alcohol is so aggressive that you can't really taste the dram properly - just the alcohol. Worth trying a sample, but I would struggle to get through a bottle, unless the car needed de-icing.

Нос	85	The nose is pleasant with a note of peat that comes across as a smoked seaweed - there is a little sweetness, but it intertwines with a note of saline and citrus.
Вкус	83	The mouthfeel is pleasant as there is a bit of body to it - the taste is a little less exciting as the alcohol lmost comes in at the start and numbs the tastebuds - there is a note of the seaside, with a touch of seaweed again. A little one dimensional.
Финиш	84	The finish is medium to long, but overall the alcohol is a little too aggressive, just numbing the tastebuds.

S 8 Unapologetically young and heavy. Could be quite aggressive as the first dram, but once palate is accustomed to the abv, there's a lot packed within the 58.6% distillate. and the weight of the distillate is masking the alcohol burn almost perfectly. At this price, one simply can't complain.

Нос	86	Toffee. Honey. Autumn foil. Moving on, malted milk, raw barley, white chocolate, a whiff of spearmint. The base deliver subtle acidity, earthy peat, and fermented mash. Gets saltier as it breathes.
Вкус	86	This resonates with a lot of 7-10yo Kilkerran bourbon cage bottles. Heavy, meaty peat smoke. Juicy, almost sugary yellow fruits. And slowly drying pine wood. Barley sugar. Milk chocolate. Autumn leaves. Ginger, nutmeg, chilli flakes, cardamom. A touch of savouriness in there - is it cured meat, or is it dried kelp? I'm undertermined.
Финиш	85	Long, slowly drying finish. The sugary fruits lingers.

Spectacular. Incredibly great value for what it delivers, would definitely be a permashelf bottling if I can find it in the wild. It is not a subtle, refined whisky. It’s bold, brash, daring, young and adventurous. Obnoxious even, just unabashedly good. I've also posted this review on r/scotch under u/pm_me_kittenpics .

Нос	89	Rotting wood, phenols, smoked salmon. The peat really stands out here, burnt parchment paper. bananas. smooth candle wax, toffee, caramel, honey, bubblegum. Mushroomy, fungal funk. Tossed barnyard hay drenched in machine oil. Tractor grease and diesel. Dried branches, pollen.
Вкус	88	intense mouth. full on oak, smoke, charred branches, with a hint of raspberries. Leads into a beautiful, waxy, mouth of honey and vanilla. dried lemon peel. viscous, gooey, honey - it coats the roof of my mouth. buttery honey cakes, ripe bananas.
Финиш	86	Dirty, funky, grimy finish. Fungal, earthy and so farmy. Minerals - like smooth river pebbles left to dry in the sun. After taste of oak and vanilla. Strong, boozy, finish, with some lingering peat, and honey.

Overall: "Pete did it all." Honestly, if the quality had been this good without the peat, I would have given it a much harsher score. It feels like the peat—the whisky industry's legally sanctioned flavoring—has completely masked the lack of layers. The aroma is quite intense and there is a fair amount of spice, so if you want something more intense than Springbank 12CS, this seems like a suitable choice.

Нос	86	The alcohol is quite prominent. It is full of a hazy vibe, like sucking on wooden chopsticks, similar to Sven. Judging by the blend of bourbon cask nuances and sherry notes, the scent suggests that refill sherry casks or a small amount of sherry casks may have been mixed in. The intensity of the scent seems to have decreased slightly compared to when it was first opened.

Judging by the subsequent coconut-like nuances and pineapple notes, it is unclear whether it is a refill or a first fill, but it seems to be a combination of sherry and bourbon casks. Judging solely by the taste, it feels like the refill sherry and bourbon casks make up a high proportion, with a small amount of first fill mixed in to balance the flavor intensity. The peat is quite strong, but it does not stand out as much as the aroma or finish.

Open Review. The stimulation in the nose is quite strong, and although the stimulation is strong, The taste and finish have decent Refill Sherry-like nuances. It is appropriate as it is not excessive in sulfur or lactic acid.

I love the heavily peated range and have every bottle since batch 7. Hate to say, this is the worst one. The alcohol kills nose and taste. Not a horrible whisky but just rather disappointing, especially after the fantastic batch 12

At around €49, it's definitely worth buying. A typical Kilkerran Heavily Peated. Lots of citrus, smoke, and campfire flavors, pleasantly warming, with a hint of vanilla tinged with campfire smoke. It pleasantly warms up and gently tickles the palate.

Overpeated. Little distillery character. Might do well vatted with a Speyside that has no peat. Actually midtaste gives it something in the way of character. but the peat comes out in the late taste and aftertaste. Will compare it to another Kilkerran Small Batch at 58.4%, batch No. 12. Peat about same. Distillate on batch No. 12 lighter, creamier. I like it better.
