This one leaves me at a loss. On the one hand, it has a distinctly strong sherry profile with beautiful fruit aromas and chocolate. On the other hand there is a sticky sweetness that I find somehow off-putting. You almost forget that you have whisky in your glass. Depending on the form of the day, one or the other sensation dominates more. Apparently the barrels were very active, if not to say "wet". But even if it looks a bit young and unbalanced, it has a good price-performance ratio.

For under 50 € an outstanding whisky, which earns 89 points absolutely. Not these modern young UA bottlings from the wet sherry keg that are just pushing and otherwise rather one-dimensional, but a fine, complex sherry whisky that I'm sure I'm going to deal with more often.

For only 10 years of age, this is a great vatting. This dram is complex enough to warrant revisits often and works in any situation. Perfect strength to sip it neat; a tea-spoon of water does not take away any crucial flavors or aromas. The initial price on release was an absolute steal.

Нос 90 Classic PX nose – winey sweetness, grape juice, orange marmalade, and buttery toffee. Perfumed oak, clay, dried figs, and incense. This nose reminds me of Glendronach 1995 Vintage, due to overt notes of buttered toffee and oranges.
Вкус 89 Bold arrival with lots of oak, eucalyptus, and toffee. The oak is present everywhere, yet does not translate into bitterness – Quercus Alba at work I reckon. Thick custard cream with orange oil and caramelized dates.
Финиш 88 Medium. Mint chocolate, Werther’s Original, and condensed sweet oak syrup.

A great Glenlivet with wonderful sherry notes. If you give it a little time, very nice aromas develop. Strong and intense in taste, but nothing that has a negative effect. Absolute recommendation, as the whisky is simply great and enjoyable!

Well, it works: young sherry whisky, from first-fill barrels that hasn't been drowned in strong wine, leaves enough room for the (first-class) distillate and delivers a harmonious overall package. I don't often get 88 points for ten-year-olds; But here I actually find it justified.

Нос 89 Despite the first-fill barrels, it has more of a refill character for me. Beautifully caramelly, spicy, with Christmas cookies, amaretti, marzipan, cocktail cherries and elegant almond and pear notes (typical Glenlivet), supported by American oak. The expected raisin and plum aromas only come secondarily. Extremely present, intense and impressive. No alcohol, no youth noticeable. Totally round and mature, looks more than ten years old.
Вкус 87 Very spicy very early, but not peppery. The wood plays the main role in a pleasant way, a bit like a good refill piglet, but then makes way for sherry fruit, gravy and the floral, sweet Speyside character of Glenlivet. Nothing burns or stings, and no aspect dominates. Super balanced. You can either simply sip it away or analyze it in more detail, which is equally suitable for both types of enjoyment. Chapeau.
Финиш 87 Cake dough, almond cookies, Raffaello, plum jam, allspice, a touch of Williams pear brandy.

Subtle sherry notes, some honey, orange and melon, no negative and therefore annoying alcoholic notes. In the mouth a strong and spicy start, fruity-sweet, oak, dark chocolate, again no negative alcohol, despite the 48.1%. Long finish, spicy oak notes, a sweetness that I still can't pinpoint exactly, ginger joins in the background. So much for a coherent overall picture. The 50 € that was called up at his time are okay, I increase my points from 85 to currently 87.

Нос 88 Pure sherry. Very intense smell of dried fruits, raisins, dates, plums. Fruit chaos in your head, everything you can imagine in sherry-ripened whiskys. Very sweet, caramel .... promising in the nose.
Вкус 87 Holds what you expect. Sweet, fruity, plus vanilla (?) Or Walker's shortbread (?). In addition, subtle oak and very slightly peppery. Delicious.
Финиш 87 medium length finish. Oak.

Good bang for the bucks sherry Livet. Not overly drowned in sherry but well-intrated and no real off notes (read: sulphur). Not overly complex but everything it does do it does well.

Great sipping whisky with a lovely sherried profile and a nice spicyness to it. The batch system, 5 casks from the 2007 vintange have been used for this bottling, sure does work very well here. As does the reduced strength of 48,1% abv. Certainly good value for money.

The spice of Glenlivet is clearly present, it lacks some fruit but otherwise very tasty and easily accessible. I do not find it too complex, the finish is relatively short and without intensity but in any case exciting and anything but uninteresting due to its aroma - 21.04.2018

No sipped whisky in sherry, as one might suspect from the color. The rather filigree Glenlivet is quite recognizable. A very nice composition.

Nose: Sweet, cherry, vanilla, oak, malt, spices, light red wine notes, slightly sour note •• Taste: spicy oak, cherry, sweet, spices, a hint of marzipan, malt, slightly tart •• Finish: Medium long, sweet cherry notes with spicy oak remains •• Conclusion: An intense nose welcomes you. Creamy sweet cherry is in the foreground and is surrounded by spices and oak. The initially dominant flavor is the spicy oak note. This is followed by a very sweet and powerful cherry note. A really tasty whisky. Not incredibly complex due to his young age, but he does what he does very well. No missing grades. Alcohol strength fits perfectly.
