Very decent with a fairly good finish Single Malt from the Isle of Skye. The aftertaste of chocolate and cocoa lingers on the palate for a very long time. The aroma is a lot of heather honey, smoke, oak and bonfire. The finish, as I wrote before, is the best. You definitely need to give her some time to oxygenate

I had this Talisker on a whisky tasting with friends. Very nice whisky, I liked the softer and sweeter finish the most. Did not really find a Talisker character in the taste (pepper or bon-fire notes..?).

I found this edition is better than the 2021DE. For it provide the typical information: aging shouldn't be the reason of giving you a stereotype of "DE is the upgrade of 10yo". Instead it provide a strong taste of "advancing Tailsker". I'm assured that Talisker is trying to make Amoroso a booster for it's classic character, with a more balanced and solid taste. But not for just to show you "We add sherry! We add sherry and you taste it". Great and I will buy another bottle of this edition for sure.

Smoky, peaty(medium), sea wind, sea salt with fruit and honey sweet. Charred wood. Amoroso seems not showing up. After few minutes, the sweet comes up more, also the peat and smoke. Give it some time will you? |

Peat and sea salted fruit comes first. Smoke always in the background, ascending the sweet and smoke again with sea wind. Sherry shows up to ease the peat. A little bit oily, warmth surround your mouth, smooth. Even greater when the aroma comes from my throat up to nose. Again. Don't try to use your "Sherried mouth" to find sherry in this whisky, this is Talisker okay? |

Long, warm peat and smoke, with continuous "fresh" sweetness. Still lingering after I sip some water. Love it. I would say this can be the one change the feeling of NAS Tailsker. Well done. |

Don't really get all the high scores with this one. Yes it has good flavors but i found it incredibly sharp, alocoholic and unbalanced. You can't hide the youth in this one. Drank this side to side witht eh arran sauternes finish and imo both suffer from the same problem of being too youthful.

Initially rather closed, if you let it breath it gets better. Rather pleasant on the nose even if its not particularly complex. Spices, cinnamon, smokey, chocolate, red fruits, typical sherry aromas, maybe some distant coastal notes. |

The flavors alone are good but the punch and that initial sharpness combined with the excessive spiciness really don't match well imo. The more you drink and the longer you chew it the more manageable it becomes, but this is still flawed. Typical smoke/sherry profile not particularly complex and quite thin. Sherry, smoke, salty, chocolate, spices, pepper, just ok. |

A polished and enjoyable sherry-finished Talisker that trades some of the distillery’s raw coastal identity for sweeter, darker fruit complexity and easy drinkability. Nose Rich and inviting: * red jam * dark fruits * sweet spice The sherry influence is immediate and dominant, giving the whisky a softer and more dessert-like profile than classic Talisker. Palate Sweet, spicy, and approachable: * cherry * pepper * peat smoke * malt * honey * apple * wine-like red fruit notes The maritime Talisker DNA is still present beneath the surface, but the sherry finish rounds and softens the sharper coastal edges. Finish * pepper heat * chilli spice * lingering berries The finish remains lively and warming, balancing the sweetness with Talisker’s trademark spice. Overall Impression A clean and well-executed sherry finish with no distracting off-notes. The sweeter profile makes it highly enjoyable, though the cask influence slightly masks the classic Talisker character and reduces the mineral coastal precision found in the 10 YO.
Even without an indication of age, it is still a nice malt at a decent price. The nose is nice, in the mouth it slacks off a bit compared to the nose before picking up again on the finish. Update 03/2023: After another repeated tasting in a direct comparison to 2 older versions in the previous design, I now have to lower the rating a bit, since the new bottling has noticeably decreased. A pity.

This whisky has not only changed the appearance of the bottle (much more generic, less elegant, with less relevant information, and now aimed at the casual buyer), but also the content: it is now a NAS. Much less complexity, more toasted barrel flavor, less sherry flavor, younger, poorer barrel quality, less dense (maybe more filtered). It reminds less and less of the excellent 10-year-old version (the old label), and more of the NAS versions (especially the mediocre Dark Storm) which, in my opinion, leave a lot to be desired. Unfortunately, this whisky in the last two years has literally gotten worse in every way. Heartbreaking. It is no longer one of my favorite whiskys.
Sampled at distillery. Enjoyed this one, probably my favourite of the tasting. Nice creamy mouthfeel, salty, peaty, burnt orange and dried fruits. Delicious and tasty.

I have the 750 ml. version for the USA. But I assume it's still the same as the 700 ml. There is a bare hint of sulfur in the finish from the sherry, which is a big negative for me. So despite my liking this up to the finish, it barely gets an 84 from me. Another Diageo output and they run hot and cold, in my opinion. In this case the peat does not overwhelm the distillate, so positivity in this regard. I suppose there is some lemony, other citrus, bread taste, but not very complex other tastes.

For me, this DE unfortunately has little in common with the old bottlings. I still think the nose is quite good, but it is also much less intense on the fruity side than it used to be. In the mouth, this DE seems more watery than before. All quite one-dimensional on the spicy side. The finish is at most medium long for me. But rather impetuous, edgy, spicy. Is probably hardly older than a WeeBeastie from Ardbeg. From Talisker's point of view, there are good reasons why there is no longer an age statement on the bottles. Addendum: After the Glencairn glass, today on May 18th. the attempt with a larger nosing glass, the bottle is half empty: The flavors do not become more complex, little sweet in the mouth, more orange on the nose, Liquorice/salmiak is added, saltier now.

Very well balanced. Very sweet, and the peat is a bit stronger than Talisker 10. If you like a well-balanced serry peat, this would be a great choice.
...I can't confirm the question of whether the first no-age DE is weaker! I generally think that the DEs of the 2000s were more intense, but this one fits the mold of recent years! A good malt - at an acceptable price...made by the sea...

Despite the new lack of an age statement, the 2022 edition is certainly not much worse than its predecessors. I actually like it about as much as the previous versions, though the character has changed, it's gotten more young and fruity (perhaps even a bit spirity), but in exchange it has gained more power and smokiness. The older versions seemed a bit thin on the tongue to me at times; this one certainly doesn't.

The Talisker Distillers Edition is like Sean Connery in a tailored suit: elegant, British, and always polite. Unfortunately, he was told beforehand not to swear, not to make pepper jokes, and to leave the flamethrower at home. The Amoroso sherry takes away exactly what I love about Talisker: that cheeky chili-pepper attack, the maritime wildness, and the unmistakable character. Instead, you get a decidedly pleasant gentleman who never offends, but unfortunately rarely inspires either. Somehow, everything sounds muffled – a trumpet instead of a trumpet solo. And yet... it's not bad at all. On the contrary. It's well-balanced, dry, and pleasant to drink. However, for a special evening, I'd probably reach for a different Talisker.

The nose is truly its greatest strength. Initially, you're greeted by alcohol-soaked raisins, as if they'd spent the afternoon in a sherry cask and were determined not to leave. If you give the whisky some time, the sea breeze becomes increasingly apparent. Salt, subtle smoke, and a lovely freshness blend beautifully with the sweetness. The best part: You just want to keep smelling it. The catch? At some point, you have to put your nose so deep into the glass that onlookers probably think you're trying to revive the whisky. |
| Вкус |
84 |
The first impression is surprising: a pleasant sweetness, immediately followed by wood and barrel spice. The texture is slightly oily, and the alcohol remains pleasantly in the background. The Amoroso brings dried fruit and a hint of red wine, but no sooner has it made its entrance than it is politely but firmly escorted offstage by wood and tannins. With a little time, notes of dark chocolate, malt biscuits, and gentle campfire smoke develop. If you hold the whisky in your mouth for a long time, it produces a surprising amount of saliva and almost transforms into a malty biscuit porridge with a touch of smoke – unusual, but quite delicious. The typical Talisker chili and pepper notes? They're there, but subdued. The same goes for the smoke. Everything feels pleasantly tamed. |

Relatively short, dry, and slightly bitter. The tannins are almost reminiscent of a young red wine, leaving the cheeks briefly feeling a bit rough. A pleasant sweetness returns towards the end before the whisky fades away rather quickly. It all makes a decent impression, but it doesn't create the reflex in me to immediately want to take another sip. |
