Price: 700. I saw it's below 500 on JD.com. So I actually think it's pretty good. It's also one of the few blended whiskies that can taste the Genting flavor.
Nice start, little week finish

The distillates all play a part here: the dirtiness of Glen Scotia, the minerality and citric fruits of Springbank, the chalkiness, saltiness, and florality of Kilkerran, the peat of Longrow, the honey and cleanliness of Hazelburn. |

And that all continues onto the palate, except cream, honey, chalk, and soft fruits take centre stage. I too suspect the usage of a good few first-fill ex-bourbon casks. |

Chalk, honey, a soft mild fruitiness, a little heather, subtle seawater, rock pools, dunnage funk, cream, lemons. Very quaffable and consistent throughout - I hope this will be a frequent release. Adding a few drops of water makes the peat quite medicinal and more forward. I like it both ways. |

on the nose it looks like a colorful mix of everything that comes from Campbeltown, but can therefore not set any clear accents - yes, it's a blend; but that doesn't make it any better. Works like: what other (not so good) barrels do we have, let's throw them together and sell them. The taste is fruity, sour, mineral. Gone relatively quickly. [86 - 82 = good whiskey -> get (second) bottle? Maybe...] rather on the lower end of my good whiskey scale; depends a little on the price, for 35-40 euros 84 points, for over 50 euros... 80-82 points; otherwise the PLV will no longer fit. The sample is enough for me; a bottle for over 50 euros is nonsense and only for hardcore jumpers and collectors, but these prices cannot be fooled if you know how it tastes and what is charged for it.
Can the whingers go somewhere else to complain about price hikes? You are very boring. This is an EXCELLENT whisky, not complex but a superb dram for drinking.

Wow - this is the opposite of the nose: very full, minty, rich cask influence without being distinctly sherry or bourbon. Unmistakeably Campbeltown. Lovely stuff - I could drink this in preference to S.B. |

Finishes with sour oak & slight peat (but no smoke). Label says "5 single malts from Campbeltown" - I'd suggest mostly Kilkerran 12, a decent slug of Hazelburn 13, and a teaspoon each from S.B. Scotia & maybe 3% L.R. for the peat. A very good whisky, proper Campbeltown, for a fair price. |
Ok, but not that great, especially considering the price. Don't believe the hype.

A good blend, perfect to begin a Campbeltown themed tasting. Mostly Glen Scotia influenced with some sprays of smoke perhaps from Kilkerran...
Quite complex, quite young and quite lovely. Subtle, almost understating itself in fact, but it has that Campbeltown DNA running through it from start to finish. Still fairly spirit driven, but what it brings is very well balanced and nicely integrated. Don’t think of this as a 1 on 1 replacement for Springbank, though.

Farmyard mixed with sweetness leading into sweet and sour notes, with some orange zest and citrus and soft peat. Vegetal / leafy with a dairy- cheese note representing the Wee Town Funk. Interestingly, the dairy note also translates into a buttery sensation, going slightly sour towards the end. Intriguing and pleasant, and, despite also youthful, deceitfully complex and ‘busy’. It starts off fairly straightforward, but every time you come back to, something has changed, or a new note appears, resulting in a very interesting development and exploration. |

Soft peat off the bat. Not overwhelming but definitely more clear than on the nose. Slightly vegetal – farmyard (dry and wet hay) as well. Minerally- chalky. A gentle sweetness (sugar coated lemons?) balances this out. Cheesy/dairy again, with a medium mouthfeel. |

Aroma - plum, salty licorice, tobacco with prune notes, smoke and honey. Palate - blackcurrant jam, dark honey, bold, soft fruit. At the end, seawater and lemon appear, displacing the honeyed fruitiness.
Marine notes, wet rocks, dark fruits, figs, raisins, cocoa, brown sugar, a hint of smoke, a bit peppery and spicy, quite oily, long, warming finish. The price/quality ratio is very good.
Solid campbeltown dram, decent price. And more importantly, available at your retailer nearby...

How nice, a blend of single malts from all Campbeltown distilleries, and representing Springbank with three whiskey styles, nothing can go wrong - well. Sounds good, reads well on paper, but it looks a little different in the glass. The base flavors are tasty and say Campbeltown in general, Glen Scotia in particular, which in itself wouldn't be a huge disadvantage. But the nose is slightly pungent, it quickly becomes thin on the palate, and the finish is hardly worth mentioning. The approach is commendable: in times when those who just want to enjoy their Springbank in the glass, the bottlings are hyped away, a cheap blended malt for everyone. So maybe the original idea. On the one hand, if there weren't a large number of dealers who, even with such a bottling, don't lose sight of the dollar signs and call for prices at which no one is willing to buy a Springbank 10 - at least not yet. And on the other hand: well meant, but (unfortunately) not well done. Definitely expandable.

Welcomes the nose with a lemony-mineral note, which also resonates with a spiciness of chervil and marjoram. Lime zest, grapefruit juice, a subtle hint of peat smoke. Seems a bit restless and changing, sometimes slightly stinging in the nose. Vanilla and honey, sea spray. |

Creamy start with vanilla, honey and lemon cake. A peppery spiciness quickly sets in, which doesn't go away so quickly. Grapefruit, lime peel, young and still green twigs, marzipan. Less mineral and peat-smoky than on the nose. The initial creaminess gives way after a while to increasing dryness resulting from a good dose of fresh oak. Gets thin fast. |

Pretty unspectacular and shockingly short finish. It frays so quickly that you can hardly keep up with the taste of aromas. Some vanilla, dry oak, lemon juice, pepper. |

Simple Scotch done dirt cheap And let’s just clarify, simple isn’t necessarily bad quality, in fact a lot of designers spend more time in the pursuit of simplifying things because it is intrinsic to creating a better product. Dieter Rams et al. Sooooo… Initially it’s all sunshine and bright and lemony and sugary, lemon drizzle cake like. Quite fizzy and tingly (in a nice way). Then honey and honeysuckle, peach syrup and then the savoury things start popping into existence. Peppery, a bit of burnt sage, mint leaves and a bit of white melon. It’s a nice nose. Kind of zesty, peppery and creamy all at one. I’m looking forward to this. Are they just playing the market with a bottle that will sell on the name, for a premium? Let’s go. Initially quite thin? I was expecting something thicker but no matter. Mmm sweet, like a fruit nectar, soft lemon icing sugar and oak all bundle in and spread out I’ve the palate. A creaminess arrives, nice richness and a kids foam banana gets a look-in. Some smoke but not overbearing, subtle like old fag ash, mmmm a little rubbery note and the oak comes back with more ginger and a salinity and the woody astringency arrives (sugar coated) but it is very well mannered, drying in the right way. Then it fades… like walking away from a noisy room down a corridor. Every step away the noise drops until it’s just a fair memory. And then you walk back into the noisy room. Because it tasted great. So, let’s ignore the ingredients. Let’s ask if it stands on its own. Is it good when you don’t care about the label or where the stuff inside has come from? For £38 it’s a solid yes. It feels like a lot of whisky for the money. It’s good from nose to tail - sure, they could have made it bigger, maybe chosen more standout things in the mix but I’m finding it’s appeal is it’s easy feel of balance. It’s light and zesty and would probably make a great scotch for cocktails. It’s just smells and tastes good. Honest even. I get more and more excited when I see ‘entry level’ scotch knocking it out of the park. This is a balm, simple and enjoyable.
Aroma fresh, citrus, grassy taste full-bodied, spicy wood, citrus finish Medium length, citrus, wood spice, delicious
Nose 87: young, first lemon and chalk then Japanese green tea and fermented with a sweet touch. Taste 88: lemony, chalky and fresh with a clean attack, a full and smoky mid-palate. Stunning. Finish 86: in the same vein with length, saltiness and nice acidity. No exuberance but just balance and deliciousness. I adore.
I did not expect this whisky to be this tastfull! Very good Campbeltown blend, in the taste I get a lot of Glen Scotia. The finish is a bit on the short side, otherwise +1 point for the finish.

Nose: apples, cherries, raspberries, chocolate with raisins, some spices (cardamom, cinnamon, cloves), ginger, minerality, leather. Tongue: dark chocolate and red fruits, initially smooth texture, then becomes a bit rough/tart/bitter and spicy due to the noticeable ginger and pepper. Last here’s C. Loch was good [WLP284], if a little down on the 2021 model [WLP186], but we are nit-picking at the price [+/-£40]. I’ve since reviewed this year’s CL [WLP385], so this is extra content [as Ralfy would say]. N: Leathery, hessian, sweet, salty and malty, it’s like a Springbank that sits between the [predominantly ex-bourbon] 10yo and, if less so, the sherried 15. With only a little vinegar, this is decidedly less ‘bouncy’ than the 2024 version. Indeed, there’s no obvious rubberiness whatsoever, and it seems less cask-driven whilst the spirit overall appears more mature. The phenolic side of C. Loch shows once I’ve enjoyed a sip or two, something of a trifle, the custard and the whipped cream also emerging over [US-style] pancakes, a dignified phenolic egginess,… To me, the distillery and cask ratios are just right. T&F: Certainly less rubbery here too, and the phenolics dialled down considerably in comparison to the 2024 edition, though the grape appears more prominent at the tail end, but it’s all relative. Creamy and malty with a fresh tannic sweet-sour edge, roughly sawn oak, liquorice wood striking the top of the palate, more ex-bourbon vanilla cream supporting the rear. C: Maintaining its go-to status as one expects C. Loch would, the annual differences tell us of SB distillers' focus on consistency of quality whilst celebrating the nature of small batch inconsistencies. 2025 is another strong year.
This isn’t a poor man’s Springbank as some would suggest. It’s not as complex but is certainly very approachable and dangerously drinkable particularly considering it only cost £36.

A lot of Springbank aroma, young but distinctive. However, the PLV is doubtful under normal circumstances, I would always prefer the Springbank 10, but that's not so easy at the moment.
Crafted really well. Doesn't need to hide behind the two 10-year-olds of Springbank and Longrow. It's also wonderful that there are no fermented fruit flavors involved and that the well-known Campbeltown cardboard is kept in check here.

Campbeltown Loch, BMSW, 46%, ex-sherry and ex-bourbon casks, 2023 release according to the label on the sample bottle (but 2024 according to the website I purchased from). 25ml sample at home. Dark honey colour. Aroma is stronger on the sherry cask influence than I might have expected – raisin, cask char, dark cherry infused dark chocolate. Body is watery. Taste is led by char and dark chocolate, becoming salty mid-palate, dense burnt salted caramel, thinning out quite a lot towards the finish and becoming more spiritous. All very impressive until the finish, where perhaps the youthful spirit makes itself known a bit and it gets a little hot and acrid. Still, a very solid whisky. If the finish had been a little more refined, we’d be looking at a seriously good score here, but that’s just dealing in hypotheticals. 3.55/85
Nose: Red fruits, cherries, gooseberries, currants, a slight smoky note with a touch of leather. Quite a lot of sweetness. Taste: Butter biscuits, nuts, even more red fruits. A slight smokiness comes through in the background, but very pleasant and binding the other flavours together. Black tea, dark chocolate, ginger, a hint of menthol. Finish: Pleasant. Warming with a buttery touch at the end.
I see I havn't rated this one. Yet it is one which is back for an acceptable price. It used to be a daily dram for me. This bottle is bottled in 2023.

https://whiskylovingpianist.wordpress.com/2026/01/13/bwc-2025-springbank/ An aperitif before the main event, why the devil not? We begin with a firm favourite and a common fixture on many a whisky enthusiast’s shelf. N: Containing 60% unpeated Kilkerran from Glen Gyle’s first week of annual [three-month] production, I find this year’s release very different to last year’s [2024] – an overtly sherried/rubbery number [WLP284]. From this latest release, I’m picking up creamy custard – Custard Creams, no less – and an emulsified oiliness with distant ‘tooon’ funk. T&F: A 70/30 ex-bourbon-to-sherry cask mix provides all-round appeal, with a continuing emulsifying quality and a creamy finish. It guzzles water, which indicates to me that it would make for a quality long drink, too. C: Solid, dependable, affordable, and available – a blend that celebrates batch variation.

Campbeltown on the label, and already the hype breaks out for many. As I expected, I get a rather unspectacular malt in my glass here. Not bad, but also far from the fact that the ordering finger would have to be nervous about the prices called. You can get something like that in a glass for around 30 euros. I suspect a lot of the higher ratings here are partly due to the Campbeltown hype bonus, who knows...

Honestly, I spent too much on this right after release when the Springbank hype was still strong. It's not worth the money I spent. That's an appetizer, a good dram to start with to look forward to. More could happen especially in the key and in the finish. Average for a Campbeltown Blend - compared to the whiskey world in general, a good blend. 85/100. I think every point more would be Campbeltown Bias, which I'm trying not to succumb to. Buy for 40-45 euros if you like the style, for any price above that, only for real Campbeltown fans. In times when Springbank costs 10 to 90 euros, this is a good alternative if you want something in the direction that speculators keep their hands off.
Some call it the poor man's Springbank, a blended malt of young, subpar or leftover casks. Well, let's find out! Citric, funky and youthful, the nose starts off with spiced oranges, mild pepper and whiffs of peat smoke. Engine oil, brine and raisins appear. The firm arrival is accompanied by marmalade, lemon drops and slightly earthy notes before it shifts towards baking spices, pears and melon. Lime, black tea and emerging peatiness carry over into the zesty, fresh and mildly dry finish. It is not more than the sum of its parts, but it gives me a Campbeltown fix. https://whiskylovingpianist.wordpress.com/2024/12/08/oswas-2024-rd-part-2-2/ Last tried in 2021, I loved it [WLP86]. Let’s see how I find it three years on and in – the all-important – context. N: A sweet affair with a sherry-aided rubbery phenolic funk, this one leans towards those all-too-common bacon Frazzles-flavoured Plimsolls, cinnamon & paprika-infused sweet fried onions, mushrooms on spinach, and salty trifle. T: Surprisingly similar to the Ledaig 18 at first [see below], but instead of heading sour-to-bitter and with ashy tar, this stays close to the aforementioned rubbery-sherried phenolic [Campbeltown] funk – akin to Springbank 15 [WLP488] in that respect. F: Creamy and milky yet with a maintained [spinach] vegetal side, is that a macadamia nut or two peeping out through the popularised juicy sherry-sweet design? It oozes too, through the dry smoke. Funky sherried brandy butter over straw concludes things appropriately enough. C: Rough & ready, this impressive-at-the-price jobbing blend takes the ‘Best Blended Malt Whisky‘ accolade for 2024. Atom Labs WormTubs 10yo is a tempting alternative [review to follow in due course].

Overall a solid to good whiskey for around 50€, maybe towards 60€ these days. In my opinion, Glen Scotia and Springbank dominate here. For 50€ including all costs I would consider buying a whole bottle. Unfortunately, I also never notice the aging in wooden barrels, which I actually like and miss here. Beware of beginners and I believe in experts too: it is for the intermediate, not for someone below or above. He lives from the nose and - a little less - the taste.

Spicy, dry and unfortunately a bit bitter at the back - albeit not very much. The aftertaste is long and rather spicy. |
I don't like it at all for €45. Can be washed away very easily. On the nose I have more of the bourbon barrels (in my opinion at least a part of the first fill, because the spice is noticeable), then more Campbeltown distillate on the palate. Therefore also exciting in the "dramturgy" of tasting.

Lots of lemon on the nose, fresh, minimally grassy, becoming sweeter, preserved quince, lemon tea, vanilla, pastries, yeast braid, a minimal hint of mineral elements, but much less than I would have expected from a Campbeltown blend. Relatively clean. |

Lemon biscuits immediately on the palate, a hint of peat and "dirty Campbeltown", as I would have expected from the nose. In addition, oak spice, nutty, then becomes drier and also chalky-mineral. Grilled pineapple. |

nose is ok, immediately brings the Springbank minerality and oiliness to mind.. and quite a bit of peat.. but everything else falls flat after that.. thin palate, an overall emptiness in the middle notes.. bitter, vegetal broth in the finish.. i would rather not drink Springbank than drink this.. almost could not finish my sample! P. S. a low price should never be reason enough to buy (and drink) a bottle.. save your liver for a quality experience or give it a rest!

Totally agree to most of the reviews. I think the outstanding feature is pleasure here. This whisky is interesting, enjoyable, and it really has a kind of ‚terroir‘.
Sweet and savoury nose. Campbeltown funk very present. Wine gum sweets, icing sugar. Almost Bladnoch like with a synthetic strawberry note. Nice continuation on the palate, bubblegum sweetness and licorice. A slight hint of pepper and some pear drops. A very good blend

Is the Camp Loch now exclusively Campbeltown whiskies? No distilleries from elsewhere? No grain any longer?

A fresh note, slightly woody, floral, earth and sand. This continues in the mouth, now looks a little finer. A delicate peat note over everything. Very nice!

was available in Germany for €45, which is quite ambitious for a NAS blend - but dealers who take almost double that, well
At the largest German online retailer (Horst & Ben), the NAS whiskey initially cost 49 euros and was immediately sold out. A day (!) later then suddenly 69 euros and only with club membership. This is a pure rip-off, as other shops have offered it for 45 to 49 euros to be fair. Shame on you!

A NAS blended malt from Campbeltown. You would expect it to be reasonable flavours for the money and you'd be correct. The problem is the NAS part. They used way too young whisky for this blend. You can taste some of the Campbeltown signature flavours but they are overrun by raw pear and raw apple. Unfortunately this is a cheaply made whisky and it shows.
20+ 22 21 21 84+ Beautiful sweet soft whisky, great topic for a drink, really good batch!
https://whiskylovingpianist.wordpress.com/2022/11/08/a-fairwell-to-s-w-a-g-hq/ First up, a release plenty of peeps are talking about, a blended malt consisting of Springbank, Glen Scotia, and Glengyle. N: Curious. I first pick up on the peat and prominent candle wax. Overall, rich, moreish, competant. T: From a moreish nose to a moreish palate, we’ve a clean blended malt that’s packed full of flavour and a gentle fizz. I didn’t pick up on the PX, it being so integrated into the overall mix. F: Light-as chocolatey malty finish with traces of all sorts. C: Very solid performer, just 8 years old [I’m told] going on 12-15, and with an admirable PX & peat integration that works a treat. Recommended.
I like the 2023 better than the 2021, which I have in my glass at the same time. But with both you get a surprising amount of Campbeltown character for little money and at a simple level.

2023: A little dirtier and a little more character than the 2021. Sweet, maritime saltiness, clean, salt crystals, some chocolate. Very solid for 40 euros. 87.5 points. 2021: Significantly lighter, not just in terms of color. Fewer flavors than the 2023, a little flatter. Sweetness and just a hint of saltiness and dirtiness. Almost 86, more like 85.5 points. |

2023: The mouthfeel is sufficiently oily and the finish due to the bitter flavors makes the finish seem medium long and more intense than it actually is. 86 points. 2021: The mouthfeel offers a hint of oiliness from the good distillates. The finish is almost medium long and not too limp. A solid 86 points for 40 euros. |

Campbeltown Loch by Springbank Distillery is a beautifully honest expression of its maritime roots. On the nose, it opens with gentle peat smoke, salted caramel, and a hint of orchard fruit. The palate is creamy yet vibrant, revealing notes of honey, malted barley, light brine, and a subtle spice that lingers gracefully. The finish is medium-long, slightly smoky and pleasantly coastal. A characterful dram that perfectly captures the rugged charm of Campbeltown.
Fruity and mineral, yellow fruits and orchard fruits, great value for money.

Fruity, floral and honied, but most of all extremely chalky and mineral. Peach, sweet oranges, sweet lemon candy, spring flowers, blackboard chalk, limestone and salted fudge, eventually some anise. Apparently all 5 Campbeltown malts are involved, but picking up any smoke or peat in the nose is difficult. There is a slightly funky and farmy note way at the back though. |

Expectations were high, the best distillery’s in Campbeltown blended together, a dream made in heaven? Not quite in my books. Quite a spiritual sour whisky. A soft nose followed on the palate with orange jam, spicy ginger, pepper, soft savory sweet notes, sherried influence adds fruits and dark berries with sweet barley, ginger, hints of peat and nutmeg spices. Youthful and sharp, quite distillate forward.
no score but WTF - they even double up prices for NAS blends because it's some Springbank inside? Go to Hell German retailers and I hope that every damn collector just looses a whole lot of money because nobody wants to drink stuff for the current price - 899 EUR for a fresh bottled local barley 10 that's not a Leonardo painting guys - it's booze!!

A bit spritty in the blender glass, but still with complex notes that make me think of workshop, honey, apples and citrus fruits. But make no mistake here, all in all this is a relatively easy blend. The alcohol is already clearly perceptible at 46%, but also gives the whiskey sufficient power, edges and intensity. 3-4 drops of water make it much rounder |

Excellent stuff, underlining why Campbeltown is a region of its own. The classical elements are all there, strong body, minerals, chalk, a little wariness and a dirty edge no doubt coming from Longrow and Glen Scotia. Strongly recommended.

The original Campbeltown Loch 25 year old was the best. This is a rather poor imitation, probably made from leftover casks not suitable for better stuff. Since it's a blend several distilleries involved. Since I still have a little left of the original 25 year old to taste, and it cost only $54.95 and it gets over 90 rating. What's to say? Well, I have a lot to say, but most is better left unsaid other than the bottle came from Springbank distillery. I look at this diversion for what it is. Nothing more than a diversion. However, everyone is entitled to an opinion. And all opinions should be respected by others. Unfortunately, in our present society people's opinions are NOT respected. So my opinion on this is it was put together from a bunch of casks not suitable for other stuff and qualified for this because of location, nothing else, other than Springbank wanted to make some money. They're entitled! Enough said! Bottle open some time so some change. Finish has a different taste. I have a short taste memory. So I like this better than before. Not sure why. No change in rating.

[November 2022 batch] More sherried, but not overly so. A little like Benromach 10 with a dose of fresh mint leaves added in. Not better or worse than the December 2021 batch, just different. More power to batch variation. [December 2021 batch] Malty, fruity, citrusy, oily and a little dirty. A whisper of peat in the mix. A nice, lingering finish. Superbly balanced, and quite complex. Perfect neat, though it's fun to experiment with one or two drops of water. I actually prefer this to a more recent Kilkerran 12 bottling that I have on the shelf.
