Несколько авторов описывают приятный, лёгкий для питья профиль с дымом, солью и фруктами: r1 находит нос с абрикосами, лёгким торфяным дымом и морской пеной, а во вкусе — сладость, изюм, абрикосы и бананы; r17 упоминает лёгкий торф, цитрус, ваниль и немного соли; r27 описывает дым, цитрус, тропические фрукты, морской бриз, соль и водоросли; r35 пишет о дымном и очень фруктовом носе с дубом и долгом финише на копчёных фруктах; r14 отмечает дым, кожу и ноты экс-бурбонных бочек, называя это «просто и прекрасно». Orange mango pour.  Nose is pleasant though fairly plain -- soft dried apricots, lightly smoky peat, sea foam, alcohol burn.  Good amount of dried lighter fruits -- bananas, golden raisins, of course apricots.  Mouth is fairly sweet, lots of dried golden raisins, apricots, bananas again.  Medium sea salt and peat smoke, of course.  Nice and pleasant, the most memorable thing about this might be the time i bought the bottle at the airport in Turkey while quite sick.

Wow, damn tasty for the price. He has a nice, fruity sweetness in the taste. The finish is then a little too oval. Great PLV.

Most of the whiskys for bottling Gold Reef were matured in first fill ex-bourbon barrels. Islay Island is also known for its fantastic marine life. A golden reef is created when the rays of the sun make the corals on the ocean floor sparkle.

Нос 77 Sweet, yellow fruits, honey, some citrus, hint of vanilla. Malt and a hint of "clean" smoke. If I was mean I would say dull and boring, but I'm not, so I'll go with little excitement.
Вкус 80 A bit better on the palate, still on sweet and yellow. The smoke is more expressive here. It's not bad, but I struggle to engage and really befriend it.
Финиш 72 Almost astringent. bitter wood. Sweeter with some nutty notes on the very end of a short of medium length finish. With a sort of OK body it has the kind of finish that actually discourage me from taking another sip.

Nice aroma, smoke, leather, notes of ex-bourbon barrels slip through, simple and wonderful! The taste continues the motives, not bad for 40% alcohol, quite dense. The bottling is almost 10 years old. I really like the Bowmore style!

Нос 82 Turpentine, wax, tea left over from the next day, raw meat, apple peel...somewhere in the background the standard sherry notes.
Вкус 81 Watery, not very pleasing to the nose, grainy, a bit of nuts and peach.
Финиш 83 Better than the middle, it carries the flavor notes, adding apricot-flavored soda, coffee with milk chocolate.

It's okay. Not awesome. The mixture of sherry and bourbon casks seems not to lead anywhere. No age statement, seems young. This is better than the Black Rock, though. I won't buy another bottle.

Solid thing for 45 € / liter, the character he comes to me as an intermediate of old 17er and Legend before, of alleged sherry casks I do not really notice what. Personally, I prefer the 12er a bit (and even cheaper), which has more clarity, elegance.

Нос 81 Light smoke. Fruit. Citrus. Tropical fruit. Marine. Sea breeze. Brine. Sea salt. Minerality. A pinch of spice. A dash of white pepper. Seaweed. A subtle spiciness. Vanilla. Salted caramel. Apricots arrive on the second sip. Papaya. A tropical fruit salad, but not too pronounced.
Вкус 80 Caramel. Vanilla. Spices. Black pepper. Oak. Bitterness. But there's still some burnt caramel sweetness. Toffee, but again, it's kind of burnt. Slight oiliness. Still a touch of oak bitterness. Ash underneath.
Финиш 78 Lots of table salt. More saltiness. A hint of oak bitterness, but nothing else. Surprisingly, the finish lasts quite a while, but it's not particularly pleasant. Medium-long finish.

My second experience with Bowmore, and to say nice. An interesting combination of sweeter smoke in aroma with salinity, it develops in a glass.

Without question, this is still a good single malt. But that's the minimum I expect from ''Bowmore''. Unfortunately, this composition lacks creativity, which is already indicated on the label by "matured in finest oak casks". Tasty yes, but the promised complexity is missing and makes this whisky interchangeable like underpants.

The GR has much more character and also a finish that deserves this term. He really can not convince me either. In direct comparison to the Black Rock tasted.

Smoky nose and very fruity with fresh and exotic fruits, oak. The mouth is in the same spirit with a pleasant texture, very easy to drink. Long finish on smoked fruits. Good q / p although in the long run the wooded side could be a little too much.

N- House style of Bowmore, vegetation, salted, cold stone and mineral. Heat on chili powder, kimchi. Vanilla, coconut and smoked meat. P- Sweet malt with earthy coating. Traces of szechuan pepper tartness in the middle, coastal and creamy. F- Medium-long, smooth, good spicy strength with sweet vanilla lingers. Return of iodine and tar. — at The Whisky Bar, Kuala Lumpur.

Bowmore (Enigma) was the first Islay I bought, so I have a special relation with the brand. Now, with my experience, I still like it but it is my less favorite Islay brand. Gold Reef is ok to me, above the average Bowmore.

Quite similar to the Black Rock I think, just a little bit "more" of everything. Still nothing special though, just your basic and plain Bowmore.
