I was given this NAS bottle as an easy introduction to peated whiskies, however in this regard the lower peat levels actually work against that aim. On the nose the softer peat mingles with citrus fruits and a slight rubber note in the background, however these notes do not really work together. Likewise the taste suffers from the smoke being too strong to truly enjoy the bright citrus notes but too weak to enjoy purely for its smokiness. The finish is actually decently long, with some pepper and smoke fading into a slightly bitter malty/grassy flavour. Whilst this is not bad whisky, it fails to convince as a "peat gateway" and although it tries to be a jack of all trades, it is in fact a master of none.

A dram perfect for 'just' drinking while doing stuff like watching a movie, having a game or great for beginners. The price is good, but too light and not at all complex for most malt drinkers.

Ardmore Legacy (40%). Consumed Feb 2019. Aroma is smoked apricots, lemon biscuit/pastry, lemonbalm, pale wood and smoke, notes of nectarine. Lovely. Taste subtle peat, juicy rounded middle with more stone fruit, burnt grapefruit, fresh and citric with biscuity notes and light integrated smoke. Very good. Enjoyable.

The price-performance ratio is excellent here. It's great for people who like to try a single malt, but less suitable for those with some experience as it doesn't offer quite as much.

Нос 80 It needs time in the glass, and once the initial alcohol disappears, it can already do something. Pleasant, and the alcohol has a slight cooling effect on the nose. The smoke is more noticeable now, but it's all within acceptable limits. The smoke reminds me of lightly charred BBQ chips. apple / and some peach Citrus and vanilla Honey / Honey sweetness White bread and oak

A very light, citric nose – too light, in fact. Smooth. It's the palate that disappoints me most; it's too anonymous, flat, and lacks body. Fortunately, it redeems itself somewhat in the finish, which is middle, and dry at the end.

Can not say nothing bad about this one, just not my cup of tea (ㆆ_ㆆ). It tastes somehow artificial to me :/ I understand this is mass market whisky but I couldn't find nothing engaging for me but also nothing I can really complain about for a price, I think rest of the bottle with sit on shelf for a while Update: After about half a year, this is much better... Nose is subtle but engaging, Taste and aftertaste specific but nice.

The mixture of peated and unpeated malts goes well together and shows ''Ardmore'' from a previously unknown side. However, not only does the smoke content appear to be halved, but also the expressiveness, which is unfortunately confirmed by the 40%.

Нос 79 Vanilla and caramel starter. Take dried fruit. Spicy. Then come fresh yellow fruits, some citrus and some sugary, honey and propolis. Some old wood mixed with new. It seems that, in the background, there is a little smoke, unless I know better, and a little leather too. With water the citrus, honey and vanilla increase, as well as icing sugar appearing. The spiciness dropped but did not eliminate it. The subtle smoke continues. On the rocks: pineapple, malt, honey, light leather and smoke.

With water it remains dry, almost no alcohol, new wood, some hops and green leaves, propolis instead of honey. Simple, but pleasant within the proposal. Ah, the peat appears as light leather. With new wood ice, malt, it remains drier than in aroma. Light tannic of green leaves and new wood. The peat remains, but that little point of 1 ppm just for the record.

Odor: Pleasant peaty on the nose followed by honey, cinnamon and vanilla. Taste: On the tongue, creamy vanilla with honey and spices forms behind smoky wood notes. Finish: The finish is long lasting, dry with balanced spices and pleasant smoke. Conclusion: The single malt has a very pleasantly integrated smoke.

This is a replacement for the Traditional and I think the higher ABV of the Traditional helps it to be more flavorsome than this.

He does not do anything wrong, but nothing really good. An entry-level whisky, mild and balanced with very soft smoke, but without corners and edges. A bit boring, but for the price that's ok.

Slightly smoky fellow, pleasant nose, I like it a lot. Then a bit thin in taste, which is probably due to the 40 percent. In the finish, then again clearly more present. Overall not bad.

August 12, 2022 68.5 / 100 Color: Straw, tinted with caramel. Chill-filtered. AROMA - 17.5 / 25 Delicate smoke and salty, smoked plums. A bit of rubber, oak, and charred wood. The alcohol hits the nose a bit. TASTE - 17 / 25 In two words, it's "smoked wood." The distinctive aroma of sooty pieces of wood from the fire is palpable. Despite its low alcohol content, the alcohol lingers on the tongue. There's also a hint of chocolate and caramel. FINISH - 17 / 25 A little wood and salt water. Simple and tasty. BALANCE - 17 / 25 It's neither particularly smoky nor complex, and therefore more structured. However, it's a good introduction to smoky whiskies and is definitely worth exploring.

Nice Islay alternative for easy access, low-priced and decent constructed NAS whisky. I do like this style, and prefer it over many other NAS-es. Much better than Laphroaig Select, or some Bowmore.

Нос 82 Sweet. Dry. Custard pudding (very clear). White wine. Savoury fresh herbs. And don’t forget the smoke; not ashy, not bonfire, but definitely smoke. With water it is softer, sweeter, less smoky, less savoury.
Вкус 84 Sweet, smoky vanilla arrival. Develops towards a dry vanilla and bitter wood. With water the taste improves and shows soft sweet arrival and develops into sweet juicy oranges, vanilla and summer flowers.
Финиш 82 Medium. Clear vanilla sweet and citrussy bitter dry.

Young, light whisky with a good dose of Highland smoke. He cannot deny his youth and unfortunately there are hardly any other aromas hidden behind the smoke. With the addition of water it loses some of its youth and also of the smoke and gains some creaminess and vanilla. Nevertheless, it remains too simple and boring. Nice to add some smoke to another malt, but unfortunately too young and simple on its own. Note 3

I like Ardmore, and this bottle is actually good, but just disappointing. It is one of the cheapest single malts you can find in Amazon, so I don't know why I'm so surprised.

Pepper Party The Armore Legacy is a NAS whisky from the Highlands that was introduced in 2014. You might say it is the follow-up release for the Traditional (although you could say the same of the Ardmore Tradition). It is mildly peaty and was finished in smaller Quarter Casks. The nose is accessibly sweet on toffee, honey and some vanilla, shows a hint of aniseed and has a mildly smoky edge. You can tell that some peated barely was used, but it is not a peat bomb at all. If you were expecting this, you were misinformed. It is quite feisty on the palate, to be honest. The peat is a lot more prominent than the nose promised. But it is mostly a sweet pepper party. The finish is nicely long and reminds me of charcoal that slowly loses its warmth. Nice entry level whisky for those who are not yet ready for the peat bombs of Islay, but want to take their first steps into that realm. Around 25 to 30 EUR, which is dirt cheap. Thanks, Pat!

There’s a decent amount of peat, which is nice, but not a whole lot else going on. The solvent-y note on in the nose is a bit off putting but overall not too bad. The flavours are so thin and really brings the whole thing down. If you’re looking for an introduction to peated whisky look elsewhere, as there are better alternatives.

A simple, solid NAS whisky at an affordable price. I quite enjoy drinking it, at this price level it is quite a decent whisky. I like the specific aroma in the smell, I could best describe it as the smell of unlit cigarettes in a freshly opened box. I haven't smelled this in any whisky yet...

The Legacy is the easiest way to get into peated whiskies. The peat smoke is very subtle and won't intimidate even beginners. The basic quality is decent. It's easy to drink, but you won't find anything particularly exciting in it. The price-performance ratio is perfectly acceptable.

Нос 78 Very subtle peat smoke, a touch of flint. Green apples, pears, vanilla, honey, canned fruit. Overall more sweet than smoky.

Финиш 75 It dissipates quite quickly. A faint smokiness lingers for a moment. The sweetness gives way to a slight bitterness. A touch of alcohol, a product of youth.

Ardmore legacy: Nose: pepper alcohol somewhere in the background citrus, honey, smoked ham, smelly smoke. Taste: pepper, wood, smoke, burns and gives alcohol, twisting acid, disgusting. Finish: Burning alcoholic, slightly citrusy and musty

smells good peat. Peaty flavor, but a strange, sweet aftertaste lingers. Alcohol is noticeable. Much worse than Bowmore and Laphroaig 10. But still better than most unpeated whiskies.

Ardmore Legacy, Original Bottling, 40% alc. Region: Highlands, Scotland Nose: Rather inconspicuous and mild with slight hints of peat smoke and heather, vanilla and honey. Also slightly bitter caramel and ashes are to be found. Very clear aromas. ... Palate: Slightly creamy, mild peat smoke going towards campfires, coal and ashes. A delicate honey sweetness lingers in the background, the vanilla is also present again. There are also slightly grassy notes. Finish: Medium long, again the light peat smoke and also spices, slightly alcoholic. Conclusion: Simple and mild, with peat smoke and heather. For beginners a good introduction to smoky malts, but also for "advanced" a nice all-day-dram. However, one should not expect an "Ardmore Traditional Cask" here, although Legacy replaces it in the market, 84/100 points (tasted 2015, approx. 25 €)

In the nose slightly cold smoke and toffee and a hint of marzipan, these two elements I perceive as sweetness. The alcohol is well integrated for me, it makes only very weakly noticeable in the nose. In the mouth even more towards camp fire smoke, with a hint of white pepper and citrus fruits In the finish, it is rather short, a bit bitter and the smoke remains over a little longer. The boy leaves greetings with a lasting metallic feeling in the back of the throat. A malt that really does not shine with complexity. As a sidecar to an ale or Porter he always goes.

The peat blast is immediately evident though the finish of carboard, or like a wet fresh pack of cigarettes is unique though perhaps not a profilei thirst after.

Excellent whisky! I don't understand why it is so offended here! A great option for a preliminary acquaintance with smoky whisky! I was especially pleased with the bright, sweet, malty aroma. Difficulty of note breakdown: 6/10 22 21 20 20 20

It's a bit young and simple, but it does so well. A decent stepping-stone into peated whiskies. There aren't any of the harsh new-make coppery tastes about it, but the peat could be masking that a bit. Regardless, for an inexpensive NAS single malt, it's easy to drink and enjoy. Especially if you're not in the mood for anything complex. Fair warning, it's better to finish this one sooner rather than later. Time and air cause the sweeter vanilla notes to recede a bit and accentuate the greener sappier notes. Not too much, but it's noticeable.

I like Ardmore! But this one ... He does not smell very good and he does not taste good either. Probably bottled young. Which target group is released? The complexity I value so much goes beyond the legacy. And I idiot bought 3 bottles ... Every visitor has to taste one, before there is a good whisky ...

Not bad at all for the asking price. Subtle smokiness with a hint of light fruit paired with a subtle sweetness. Absolutely easy drinking, for the asking price it has earned a rating of just over 80.
