Brown-Forman's recent stock performance mirrors GlenDronach's fall from grace, and overpriced travel retail bottlings like Forgue show you why. A bit bumpy but still pleasant, the nose greets with grapes, prunes and baking spices, mingling with porridge, cantaloupe and hints of sulfur. The fruity arrival offers canned peaches, oranges and ginger, but there is a spirity/sharp undertone that never disappears. Dried fruits, almonds and a touch of IPA subside in the hot finish. This malt wasn't ready yet, so you have to ask yourself: why invest in disappointment? RATING: 3.0/5.0 stars ≙ 79 pts → AVERAGE

A classic Glendronach. It delivers more than enough of what a sherry cask is meant to offer. However, I would have expected a bit more from the finish; a longer, more lingering finale would have suited this whiskey perfectly. As it stands, it’s acceptable, but not extraordinary.

Нос 81 Sherry notes dominate. Raisins, dried apricots, peaches, and spices take center stage; a pleasant sweetness from honey, banana, and nuts rises from the background.
Вкус 82 The initial impression comes with pepper and cinnamon, followed by dried fruits. The notes from the nose carry through here as well; additionally, a distinct charred note accompanies them.
Финиш 80 A warm, dry, and short finish. Notes of black pepper, ginger, cinnamon, and dried fruit fade away together.

2018/05/21 - LM11109 (Rachel Berrie) - tasted over a 4 month period Great in color, nose, taste and finish - a real sherry monster without sulfur and exaggerated spice - I'm thrilled - what a difference compared to the Glenfarclas team or 12yo - goes down as described in the tasting notes: blood oranges, Blackberries, Barley, Cherry, Blackcurrant, Nutmeg, Oak Spice, Sherry, Plum. Remained very tasty right up to the final dram

The sherry influence in this one is very light. I compared it to the 12YO Original, which is very dark and treacly in comparison. Really worlds apart. It's OK as a general entry-level whisky but the GlenDronach lovers will be looking for something else.

Нос 85 Fruity notes, grapes, prunes, clear sherry influences. Some red wine aroma's as well. Some hints of a grassy touch. And then coffee, caramel and milk chocolate. Not very overwhelming but attractive.

For a 10 year old very light sherry influance, less than the label promisses. Not a very bad dram but I expected more. A drop of water opened the nose some more. A 13 in a dozen dram to my opinion.

It simply does not deliver what is promised on the packaging. Too thin, one dimensional and inmature. Maybe it is the right time to stop buying Glendronachs and switch to something else, what it more honest and does not mess with the intrensic quality.

Beautiful, fruity aroma with lots of dark chocolate. Initially fruity in taste, then changes to peppery. The taste then decreases significantly in the aftertaste.

Slightly simpler Glendronach for easy drinking. Would prefer the 12 year old at around the same price. But you can't go wrong with the Forgue either.

It's not a bad whisky at all; in fact, it's totally enjoyable. But there are two things that I think work against me in my relationship with this malt. The first is that I didn't find anything distinctive about it that would make me want to always have one of these bottles available. The second is that I think I had set the bar too high and many expectations, which, so far, have been slightly under-fulfilled.

Нос 81 Orange and chocolate predominate, along with a bit of wood. For some reason I can't quite work out, there's a note that doesn't quite fit, or perhaps it's a combination of the aforementioned notes.
Вкус 78 On the palate, I discover a peppery wood note, which gives way to something fresher, and the citrus notes I'd found on the nose return. This blend of fruity sweetness and woody bitterness with the peppery spiciness reminds me of an orange peel.
Финиш 77 The finish lingers a bit, medium to short, the ever-present orange returns, with a hint of vanilla sweetness and a spicy note.

Нос 88 It looks like a bourbon, but if it is, there's much more going on here than just ketone, caramel, and vanilla. It's earthy, intensely herbal, with tropical fruits, alkaline minerals, dried grains, and some toasted notes (have you ever eaten a serving of rye at a distillery?), but it also has natural red fruits (strawberry and currant). The wood is new but not white; it's like a reddish-brown mahogany or angico wood. As for sweetness, it's caramel, dark chocolate, vanilla, honey, and fructose. Practically alcohol-free, but warm due to the spices and dried fruits that open up gradually (pistachio, roasted peanuts, Brazil nuts, cinnamon, and nutmeg). Very aromatic without being overly sweet. With water it released sulfuric acid, the wood is quite active but it's not new, I think it's another type of oak, or, if it's white, it was toasted after a few uses. The spiciness disappeared, but the spices and dried fruits mentioned remained, but the sweetness remained from malt, fresh heartwood, milk caramel and vanilla, in addition to tonka bean.
Вкус 80 Alcohol-free, drier on the nose, and intriguing because it wants to resemble a Bourbon but without acetone and with rye, just a hint of wood resin or BPA-free plastic. Earthy and with cooked fruit notes. With water, the slight spiciness, mature wood, spices, and dried fruits (especially nutmeg) are eliminated; the sweetness is only caramel and vanilla, plus a touch of honey and molasses. Upon swallowing, it warms like ginger, and then the cooked vegetable emerges.
Финиш 77 Medium, dry, sulphurous aroma of cooked vegetables and some cooked fruit. The wood looks tired, almost old.

Not really much sherry. Rather the woody barrel notes. Already better in the mouth. At least it tastes a bit sweet, although the taste does not fully unfold. It's perfectly alright.

Нос 82 The nose is pretty simple, sharp and sherried with a profile of dried fruits, assorted nuts and chocolate milkshake.
Вкус 83 The taste is plain, quite sweet and oaky with hints of chocolate powder, dried apricots and baking spices.
Финиш 82 The finish is short to medium, quite washy with nuances of gentle oakiness with notes of dried fruits and chocolate.

the 1 liter bottle is fair in price; the sherry aroma gets a little less out the back. Otherwise a delicious dram that you can drink in a good round alongside. [If there is some air on the whisky in the bottle (below the shoulder), then a certain malt note is added and the bitter / bitter taste is less; ie for me the whisky gets better -> upgrade from 79 to 82.] Conclusion: there are significantly worse 10-year-olds, but only slightly better 10-year-olds in this price and performance class of full sherry maturation.

Нос 83 First a clear sherry aroma together with walnut - one could interpret the roasted chestnut from this. I also have the blood orange as a fruity component from the official information. Sweet vanilla with powdered sugar and a slight hint of honey come out at the back when it stands a little.
Вкус 82 the sherry builds up well again, along with a light spice. The vanilla is no longer quite as present, the sweetness is also limited, but the walnuts and the orange end up getting a bit bitter (bitter orange) and "earthy". Some malt is also added. With a little imagination, the specified blackberries can be found.
Финиш 80 short to medium length; What remains is a slight spice of nutmeg and ginger, as well as the slight bitterness of roasted nuts and bitter orange (the tart tone is not very pronounced). I personally don't have the tobacco that others find.

A dull swill, a disgrace to a distillery with an empty, bitter taste, Glen Deveron comes to mind in terms of its level of “quality.” The best anti-advertising for Glendronach

Boring, somewhat youthful nose, nice taste and grand finish. He makes the points mainly by the latter. In sum, however, I can not understand why I should pay for this (converted to the 0.7 liter bottle) more than for the standard Glendronach 12 years (which is a class of its own). Glendronach Forgue 10 years about 65 € (1 liter bottle) = 45 € Glendronach 12 years about 40 €

Sherried influence with strong cask influences of bitterness detracts from the whole experience. A pleasant enough malt with honey, dark fruits, berries, spices, and chocolate. Bitter finish however smooth on palate. Quite expensive and medium/low value for money. just upped my score a point. Water really helps bring out the flavours.
