Billy Walker.

Nose: pleasant sherry (caramel) smell, maple syrup, autumn fallen leaves, also there are aromas of drunken cherries, dark chocolate. Taste: pungent, creamy, chocolate nougat. The finish is medium, closer to long. In general, the whisky is balanced, but some youth is felt. Final grades: 22; 21; 21; 21

The very nice sweetness in the taste is positive. In general, for me the taste is much more expressive than the nose. Can be done, does not have to be.

Slightly smoky wood, fairly dark charcoal, contrasting with exotic fruits, overripe bananas, papayas, a touch of iodine, dark chocolate, coffee beans. Blackberries, blueberries, muscat grapes. Cashew nut. Very unctuous mouth, on cherry liqueur, thick apricot juice, grilled almonds, then spices, paprika, cumin. Varnished wood, forest in wet weather, cut grass. Encaustic. Sufficiently long finish, earth, heather, spices, pepper, roots. Actually, I preferred the Batch 7 which was more fruity. But this one is more original, darker, more earthy. https://ilikesky2020.blogspot.com/2022/06/the-glendronach-cask-strength-batch-10.html

A cask strength Glendronach is available for tasting today. Batch 10, bottled with a strong 58.6% vol. and like the previous bottlings without age information. Supposedly uncolored and not chill-filtered, the whisky presents itself in a beautiful terracotta tone and with rather narrow windows. The price in the summer of 2022 is roughly where you could buy an Allardice two years ago. All in all, not a bad malt, but personally the sharpness bothers me too much. I would think about a bottle, if only because I've always appreciated Glendronach, but considering the price, I can still find enough alternatives that taste better on my palate.

When you first smell it, the Glen Dronach is still very reserved. The alcohol is very well integrated and doesn't sting; you smell some brewing sugar, liquorice and sherry. Dark fruits can be guessed, but the aromas still flow out of the glass quite weakly. The whisky definitely needs time to breathe. If you give it this, the aromas become clearer: Unmistakably sherry, nuts, liquorice, milk chocolate and a sour note of ripe plums. There are floral notes and make the whisky look fresh and lively. Cedarwood and sweetness come out more clearly after adding water. |

Undiluted, it is initially full of sherry aromas and sweetness. But then the sharpness of the alcohol sets in too quickly. After adding water, the Glendronach is quite green and boisterous. Although it appears oily on the tongue, there is still a strong mint and a significant portion of pepper. This quickly displaces the dark sherry notes and the milk chocolate. Personally, it's a little too hot for me, even though I really like the chocolate and caramel. |

Medium to long, the Glendronach saves a clear sharpness and a strong mint into the finish. On the palate it remains astringent at first, but then sultanas, dark chocolate, moist apple tobacco and candied orange peel appear on the palate. |
On the nose, dried fruit, cocoa and generally a bit darker, nuttier and a bit more settled than Batch 8 in a direct comparison, is more in the direction of a 15. Very chocolaty-fruity in the mouth, while being full and voluminous. The finish is driven by chocolate, coffee and tart oak, here it presents itself more like the 18 with more alcohol but not as soft and sweet. Length: 6/10 Overall a typical Glendronach, which I like better than Batch 8 because of the darker tint. On par with the 15. Rating: B+

There is a huge problem in the Turkish market in terms of price performance. While it pushes the 100 Euro limit even abroad, prices exceeding 200 Euro in Türkiye remain unreciprocated. A somewhat monotonous and unbalanced whisky. The spiciness and bitterness are absurdly high. Despite everything, there are "glimmers" of quality emerging from the sidelines. Price performance: Poor. Would I buy it again?: Unfortunately.

Tobacco on the nose, baked red apple. Cinnamon Cookies, dried figs and dates. A sharp alcoholic note and a very light glue in the back. A miso-like umami note with dried plums; a bit meaty there, almost. Dried red fruits here; sherry is not hiding naturally. Fresh red and green plums. A woody scent like a branch freshly plucked from a tree. A surprising melon-like note. Dried figs rise over time. A slight leafiness. The nose is not bad, it helps to air out. |

This is where the troubles start; the burning is too high, there is a burning that numbs the palate; this seriously overshadows the complexity. Intense sweetness. Tobacco and red fruits. Liqueur cherry. There is a bitterness in the background. Milk chocolate. Coffee beans, brownie. Dried fruits disappear. Live fruits are the same way. There is a rather monotonous palate; sweetness, sherry and of course PX, so I don't think there is any mastery in blending. Glue aromas are more obvious than on the nose. It is difficult to get to the bottom of the complexity amidst all that burning and bitterness. What a shame for some barrels that could have been of high quality. It gives the impression of a premature bottling. |

It will be a bit of a repetition but I really need to underline it. Bitterness and especially burning are too much! It is hard to drink, there is a lack of complexity. A bit too astringent. Almost anesthetic. “Gourmand”. Milk chocolate and oak and tobacco spiciness are felt here. Intense bitterness after a piece of prune and fig. Very light umami touches. The glue is still here. Coffee bean. I must say it is quite intense. Medium-long finish |

Definitely a better nose than the previous editions. It's still undeniably young (10 years max, I'd say) and the US oak is having its say with some rather big hits of marzipan and corn syrup, but there's also some older, more fragrant oak in there, and the sherry influence is very harmonious. |

Nose: Vanila pudding with chopped saturated rassins. Some sulfur with coffee liquor. Dried apricots and and fresh thyme. 〰️ Palate: Ritters chocolate with hazelnuts more herbs leading to a lot of wood influences. The sherry is there but some good complexity bringing other notes forward. 〰️ Finish: Full grain biscuit with dried fruits more sulfur. Finish is medium long. 〰️ Summary: For a abv that high, full maturation in px even if it is NAS this whisky gives a good complexity and it is a fair price for it too.
Aroma: Cellar, honey, peanuts, blood orange, pineapple, apricot, raisins, soft leather and roasted almonds Palate: Delicate sweetness, orange, sherry, raisins, oak, cocoa, fruit cake, some prune and red apple, light dust in the background Unfortunately, you can feel youth - in the background you can catch a young base, generally uncomplicated and I expected more from it.
I've tried several batches of Glendronach CS including batch 3&5, and this is by far the best batch. There are some young alcohol aromas on the nose but it doesn't bother that much.

I can basically only subscribe to the details provided by Prof_Dr_John, which are extensive and I believe to be accurate. I can't give it 90 points on principle, because that's my benchmark for outstanding whisky, which the Glendronach 18 holds for me permanently. I recommend the Glendronach Cask Strength Batch 10 with some water which it does well. A clear buy recommendation!

I don't get the average score on here for this one, sorry. If this same whisky was tasted blind by most of the scorers here it would definetely land lower. Short notes from an online blind tasting session.
Aroma:Pronounced;Palate:87/100; Aftertaste:Med-Long.
Smells: Candied fruit, dried fruit, jam, alcohol scent mixed with brown sugar scent. Taste: Brown sugar, dark jam, and oily liquor envelop the alcoholic feel, the wine is strong, warm and full of mouth, not irritating to spicy taste. Rhyme: Clean wood is the smell, grape peel, brown sugar aroma lingers. The indoor temperature is 33 degrees, drinking this batch 10, its alcohol sense is very strong, but the sweet smell of its own sherry still makes me fascinated by the mouth of this wine. I believe that after this fall, this wine can have even more amazing performance. This wine is very clean and uncomplicated, which may be a pity for many wine lovers, but I happen to like the clean-flavored Donat sherry barrel original wine. When the price of Donat 15 and 21 was soaring, this original wine was really very good. It is suitable to experience the flavor display of PX+Oroloso that the bartender Rachel wants to express. Before Christmas in winter, the score will be revised again.
I've skipped a few batches. Compared to batch 6 it's not enormously different, just more nutty and less fruity.

Nose: rich! Orange marmalade, fresh tobacco, sherry soaked dates, figs and raisins, and toasted oak Palate: nice full oily mouthfeel, the palate flavors follow the nose quite nicely with the addition of some baking spices and ginger lingering on a medium finish. Glendronach did very well with this one! It's an easy drinker at its cask strength but a couple drops of water definitely open it up a little more and make it more complex and enjoyable. 89 pointer for me
Nose: Dark dried fruits, like sultanas, plums and sticky dried apricots with some red apple peel. European oak spices. Some coffee notes, some dark chocolate and plenty of oak with some dry tannins and an alcohol nip. Palate: Dark European oak spices and dark dried fruits, cinnamon and nutmeg along with dark apricots and plums. Some oak notes, perhaps some aged barrels are in the vatting (?). Clean sherry notes, no sulfur. Heavy sherry, but the oak and the spice and the malt prevents it from becoming one-dimensional. Long sherried finish.

Raisin, petrol, sunflower seeds, walnut, chocolate, sulfur, vanilla, green apple "A touch of sulfur amplifies the volume" The first notes are of raisin and nutty aromas like sunflower seeds and walnut. As it opens up, you begin to pick up a sulfuric and petrol-like oiliness—unusual for a typical sherry profile. It likely wasn't fully matured in sherry casks, as bourbon-like notes such as vanilla and green apple are also present. |

Nutty, crunchy chocolate, grape jam, plum, dark chocolate, leather "An explosive taste that outshines the nose!" A complete surprise. The nose suggested a modest sherry dram, but the palate reveals a powerful, structured body. That sulfur note turns into nutty richness and crunchy chocolate, followed by intense grape jam and plum. Toward the finish, it darkens into bitter dark chocolate and leathery notes. The overall texture is oily—pleasant to some, but potentially heavy for others. |

Hints of malt and leftover fruitiness remain in the background, but compared to the boldness of the palate, the finish feels a little lacking. |
This is a very reliable everyday sherry, with a balanced and mature flavor profile that's sweet but not cloying, and a pleasant balance of spices and fruit. The only minor flaw is a slight sulfur note, which barely affects the overall drinking experience. It's perfect for casual enjoyment and suitable for both beginners and advanced drinkers of Highland sherry.

(Update: Compared to batch 1, the aromas are significantly thinner and at the same time sherry is too acidic. After trying the whisky several times, I don't like it as much as the first time and therefore I'm degrading it by one point .) The whisky really surprised me and shows me why I loved Glendronach so much when I first started. A very clean, typical Glendronach with a lot of quality. For 70 euros an absolute no-brainer. Also tolerates a lot of water and thus becomes sweeter in the PX direction. The nose is very great, the palate still good, but only if it gets water.
[August, 2022] I liked the very first batch of the Glendronach Cask Strength as an easy to quaff and flawless modern sherried dram but I did not take any detailed notes back then (my score was 88). So I will change that legacy with this tenth batch... ..which is a rather boring triple-young malt because all three the spirit, the sherry used to season the casks and the casks themselves were very young hence the result is simple and average-only (at best). What a difference to the first batch and to be honest: Why should I drink such stuff when there is much better malt at about the same price out there?

The colour is amontillado sherry and the nose offers a modern style sherry profile of young (unmatured) sherry seasoned casks, so it is simple and mainly winey sour-sweet. This is okay, but boring (to be honest). The malt adds no significant aromas so it seems it is quite young too (significantly underaged, meaning below ten years). Contrary to that the wood is rather strong. This is not my favourite sherry nose. |

The taste is actually the same with sour-sweet young sherry wine flavours, simple barley sugars and bitter wooden notes. Nothing wrong with that, but nothing good in there either. This is an average taste of an average malt matured in average-quality casks - got the point? By the way: About ten years ago the 21-years old Glendronach Parliament was sold at this price while the first batch of the Glendronach Cask Strength was priced at around 50 Euro (February 2013). |

The dram arrives hot and without any coating effect on my palate but there are significant bitter-drying moments from heavy tannins. The finish is short and again bitter-astringent from tannins without new impressions. Water turns the nose punchier (more alcoholic) and the taste releases more peppery-chili spices. Unfortunately, the bitter tannins grow stronger too. A further reduction flattens the dram without making it better. |
Solid sherry malt. Less powerful than expected. Rather easy. He just doesn't like water that much.
I haven't had a Glendronach Cask Strength in my glass since batch 2. I was all the more excited. Unfortunately I'm a bit disappointed. I'm missing the fruit here. Clearly tart and bitter notes dominate. Even stronger with water. Unfortunately, no spicy oak bitterness either. But for my taste a clearly youthful, sharp bitter note. I don't remember the old Cask Strength versions 100% anymore. But I don't think they had that youthful edge. Almost metallic on the finish. Compared to the Tamdhu Batch Strength that I tasted before, the Glendronach stinks very clearly. Unexpectedly.

It seems to be the standard sherry cask whisky I was hoping for. This taste has the sweetness of Pedro Jimenez and the dryness of Oloroso at the same time!

It has an incredibly sweet scent. It's hard to believe that it's CS with an alcohol content of 58.6%, so you don't feel the alcohol booze. It has a rich, sweet scent like brown sugar, and the raisin scent of sherry comes through. I know they didn't use bourbon, but there is also a subtle vanilla scent. I really like it because it has the very sweet scent I expect from sherry. |

The sweet taste that feels like a thick grape of sherry or plum syrup is dominant. It tastes like honey from flowers, but also has the dryness of Oloroso. It looks like the cask was used very well. For a temperature of 58.6 degrees, the smooth taste is impressive. |

At the finish, the savory grain taste of the malt passes by and the grape skin scent lingers for a long time. I can also feel a bit of tannin. It's like the finish after drinking red wine. |

According to the general feeling, the average age of spirits in the batch is 8-10 years, which is not much at all. However, in general, the whisky turned out to be collected, rounded, with a slightly exuberant character, a kind of “Muscle car” of the whisky world.
A delicious whisky with a strong sherry profile and a nice complexity. Well made, with attention to detail. A little sharp and a little young at times, but very tasty - especially with a drop of water. Water opens up the dram and causes more things to happen; sweet fruit arise and the sharpness of the whisky disappears. The wood from the sherry also seems to diminish and is traded for a more mature palate. Lovely!

Delicious nose with a strong alcohol tang. A bit woody in the beginning (due to the sherry cask?). Pleasant sweetness enters accompanied with caramel, hints of leather and cedar. Then some marzipan... And then something sweet reminiscent of 'Moncherry' chocolates (milk chocolate with cherries). Delightful! |

This is a bomb. The whisky kicks in; strong and sharp at first. After a few sips, the mouth gets used to the heavy alcohol and the oily nature of the dram. Sherry bomb that allows few other aromas at first, but then opens up a bit. Lots of sweet fruit, think candied tangerines, raisins and cooked fruit puree (to make jam). Bit of banana peel at the end. Palate. But with a little water, it gets better; the sharpness disappears and the sherry becomes more generous. With water, the fruit comes out more and there is less wood in the flavor. Very tasty and well made! |

The sherry gives off a kind of nutty bitterness that sticks in the mouth. This overpowers the finish a bit. But then the bitterness disappears and we get a soft creamy cookie sweetness. Hints of spiciness with a bit of white pepper. The alcohol remains noticeable (numbs the mouth and is still a bit sharp). Hint of honey at the end. |
Is quite ok, not particularly multifaceted or intense, but only 10 years old, but with a high alcohol content. From my point of view, it absolutely needs water to open, otherwise it's pearling before swine. Unfortunately, it doesn't trigger an impulse in me to have to be behind every batch - 07.04.2023

Nose: Toffee, cereal, dried berries, cotton candy, grain Taste: Sherry, oak / Spicy Finish: Nuts / Spicy
I was afraid that the price tag of this whisky would rise to € 100, but for € 80 it is an amazing dense, full, very engaging keg that shattered the second version of this whisky in the second.
It's got a nice color. Almost too dark for a NAS. Nice, slightly spicy barrel aroma. Some sweetness too, almost like honeycomb on a wooden frame. Oh! Drink slowly! Of course you could expect him to be strong but the rather mild aroma had made me a bit careless. A madness in the mouth! It took me a long time to finish the little sip because your own juices wouldn't stop flowing... Of course he looks young and impetuous. And of course it would be even better if it were older and a bit more complex. But that doesn't change the fact that I'm absolutely thrilled. I give my unreserved recommendation!

Nose, bitter chocolate, cocoa, pralines with alcohol, ripe fruit, as if in a cellar with freshly picked apples, pears or plums and such a cool cellar smell. Taste, sweet but dry, grapefruit, pomelo, red orange, not too ripe red fruit, dark chocolate, brownie, dark cocoa. Finish, herbal, still bitter chocolate, earthiness.
The whisky cannot completely hide the few years of maturation, but shows itself without any clear off-notes or immaturity. Unfortunately, more complex notes still fall by the wayside. Brings enough power to play with water.
Just sharp and young. The alcohol does not feel well integrated and burns away most of the smell and flavor. Boring.
Lots of sherry tones in this Glendronach batch 10. Plums, raisins, dark chocolate with pleasant dried fruit and sherry tones. Tasty and nice GD batch, probably the best batch without age statement whisky from GD I have tried so far.
Felt more like a bourbon, than sherry cask.

Rich and velvety smooth. Cocoa, leather, dark berries, some charred wood notes and a surprsing hint of maple. White pepper that usually accompanies sherry cask malts is minimal but present. Nice viscosity which you might expect in a 58.6% cask strength release. Great body and balance. |

Comment: Glendronach Cask Strength Batch 10 makes a very good impression. Especially if you compare this bottling to its predecessors. While Batch 8 was still reasonably convincing with its massive 60.1%, Batch 7 and 9 in particular left many questions unanswered. This can convince both in the nose and in the mouth with the finish. Even fans of the dark color get their money's worth here. With the issue price of 70 euros, I definitely can't go wrong here. Another good batch from the Cask Strength series. Well done Glendronach. Thanks to the very good PLV, I share the rating of bartvl1979 and this time there are very benevolent 90 points. Rating lowered to 89 after several tastings.

A blend of spirits aged in Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez barrels. Bottled at batch strength without filtration or coloring. Nose: The aroma is powerful, assertive, and tart, as befits a malt of this age and strength. At the forefront are a wave of dried fruits (apricots, raisins), orange marmalade, red apples, and cherry preserves. Further on are nuts, chocolate, cinnamon, ginger, pepper, a touch of varnish, and tannins reminiscent of fruit stone astringency. Palate: More mellow on the palate, though still powerful and vibrant. Fresh, vibrant dried fruits, caramel, balsamic vinegar, baked apple, cinnamon, ginger, jalapeño, and damp wood. Finish: Powerful, warming, and long-lasting. Dried fruit sweetness, orange zest, pepperiness, sweet spices, and tannins. Balance: a young, vibrant, and playful whisky for lovers of sherry bombs. Don't expect complexity or development; it immediately presents itself in all its power and beauty. N21, P22, F21, B21
An excellent droplet, very tasty. From the looks of it Rachel has learned from the disaster of Batches 7-9 and has once again conjured up something to rival the old Billy Batches. With this one I'm back on board at Glendronach. The price of around €70 is totally fine with that. Especially with regard to the price development in the area of whiskys with an age statement. You probably shouldn't wait too long to order if you want a bottle at the issue price. Experience has shown that the cheap offers sell out quickly.
Artificial strawberry flavor, slightly syrupy body, oak, orange jest, spicy, not much more uncomfortable than alcohol intensity
