Laphroaig 10 yo OA Cask Strength 58% Batch 006 Color: as always Nose: Pure: Wonderful, like an old friend who has not changed over the years. Compared to Batch 005 more honey sweetness, it looks a little more mature, less sprightly. Sure, trortzdem the full Torfladung, no question, seasoning. With water: cool, is now really fruity (apricot, tangerine) and even sweeter. Reminds me of Batch 3! One of my favorites. After a while still cool peppermint note, maritime too. Delicious!! Taste: Pure: sharp as usual, immediately honey sweet, then the salty smoke, and neat oak. Oily and good as expected. With water: at the same time sweet and spicy, salty, earthy and at the same time beautiful honey note. Here he does not quite come to 3 and 4 ran. No comparison with the normal 10s. Significantly better and more balanced. But I'm not a Laphroaigfan. Where the 18er gives me more here.

Direct comparison with WB211936 (Batch 015) Laphroaig is certainly one of the favorite distilleries on Islay, but I can't understand this high rating for this whisky. For me, Batch 015 is superior, and even that whisky isn't the best Laphroaig I've had.

A delicate and complex nose. On the palate there is an initial sweetness, quite surprising for Laphroaig these days. The finish is long and lingering with a mixture of that same sweetness and some spices. A really great and overall very well balanced Laphroaig CS. Nice to see some output of that complexity and quality from them right now.

Bonfire, ash, coal, kerosene, coniferous resin, old wood, bandage, baked potatoes, cocoa, oatmeal cookies, caramel, dark chocolate, honey, strawberries, marmalade!

tested against batch 16, 17. This one has a much better mouth feel, softer, fuller, sweeter.

"Batch 006 - 58% VS Batch 008 - 59.2%" Tasted parallel. On the nose, both are smoked and very peppery. Small advantage at 008 for intensity (thanks to the extra 1.2% alcohol?) Medicinal malt, a little more grass for the 006 where I detect thyme. The 006 has meaty accents, while the 008 switches to the side of gluttony with chocolate cereals. On the palate, both are ultra intense and peppery with an almost chewy texture so the malt is thick. The 008 seems to me richer and warmer, while the 006 is more direct and malty. Final very opulent, covering and peppered for the 006. More round but a little less omnipresent for the 008. Enthusiasm 4/5 for both but advantage at 006 for his more direct profile, a matter of taste. Whiskys No. 1367 and 1368

This is another wonderful cask strength batch! Thank you John Campbell for this beauty! It takes some time in the glass, before the aroma arises, but then: tarry, sweet, peat, spices. Great. The palate is a dream for Laphroaig fans (like me). After initial sweetness very dry sherry notes arise (could even be some Madeira butt in there??) perfectly paired with peaty and iodine see breezes. Very complex! Do not need water, but some more aromas come thru by adding some. The finish is long and warm. Fantastic typical Islay dram with an superb value for money!

Powerful and immediately present. The others should be shy, he wants to work immediately and with oppressive power.

gold color, moderately expressive nose, peat, lemon, iodine, barbecue, camphor. Powerful mouth, well integrated alcohol, peat fat, a little sweet, nice thick texture, but a little young, apple, sweet cereals. Very good length.

The peat is very powerful, clove and a rather pronounced floral side (lavender). Sweet and tart attack then peat makes its entry. However, we find in the mouth the floral side and a hint of liquorice. Integration is exemplary, just like on the nose. A medicinal peat continues to unfold in the very long finish but without bitterness. An excellent batch.

Intense, peat, salt, iodine, a slightly musty-lemony sweetness, but fits well. The essence of Islay. A real peat bog, but with substance and a great Toffeesüße.

Great whisky, significantly different from the third batch, there is more sweetness, coffee and chocolate shades, but it is still dense, bright, perfectly balanced.

There's clearly some sherry influence in this one, haven't noticed that in earlier batches. This makes it a little smoother than the previous batch, though they're not worlds apart.

fantastic islay whisky, great everything this whisky. even better with a good slosh of spring water added. incredibly long and rollercoaster style finish.

I like the 003 a little more, owing to the fact that it has more complexity, but this 006 is smoother. Grab it while you can. I predict the next cask strength will be NAS with considerably younger whisky inside. Judging by the beads on the side of the glass, this 006 has some whisky in it that is older than a mere 10 years. Considering how high the ABV is, and yet how smooth it is, that is another indication that this has some older whisky blended into the ten year stock. I'm guessing that there is some 15-17 year in there. The Laphroaig Select is an indication of the direction the distillery might be going. I also think that now is the time to snag a bottle or two of the 18 year if it is reasonably priced where you live. Save your Laph 18's for a decade and then marvel at them in 2,025 when 18 year old whisky is about as common as raining frogs in Paris. Bring one out at a new year's eve party and be a hero.

Fantastic batch of Laphroaig CS !

olour: Full gold Nose: neat: all that you expect from a true Laphroaig, peat, lots of iodine, marine coast scents. Also some bacon but it also has a sweet edge to it. Alcohol is incredibly subdued and as such is very easy to nose! with water: I feel that the water here brought the peat smokiness a little bit forward, still excellent. Taste: neat: peppery, salty, lots of smoke, sweet (fruit sweetness, hard to pinpoint what it is). Alcohol makes its presence felt here but still perfectly drinkable neat. with water: tones the alcohol slightly which makes this absolutely excellent (assuming of course you enjoy the Islay classics). Finish: neat: spicy, hot, medium-long on peat. with water: basially same profile, peat lasts long!!! Comments: I love this whisky! this is my second 10 CS (the first one, the original, red stripe, still ranks as my favourite whisky ever, although recently challenged by a couple of other contenders) and it's fantastic, as long as you love the style! MY SCORE: Highly Recommended +

Bold and oily with elements of peaty smoke, coffee, caramel, vanilla.

The best batch of those I have tasted. Close to the old Red Stripes. Superb medicinal peat, meaty meaty. Hint of liquorice, very well integrated alcohol.

We´re getting closer... I like this Batch 6 way better than the previous bottling. But I still prefer Batch 3.

This batch #006 is incredibly good! I have tasted different batches but batch #006 outperforms them all. Until now I liked best batch #004 but #006 is even better, it has a very complex aroma texture, accompanied by very heavy and profound peat. Very strong but still balanced. By the way, in general the 10y cask strength of Laphroaig is a completely different animal than the standard 10y (I am not speaking of the higher ABV). I do not know which casks they use for the standard 10y mass market bottling but the quality is way worse than that of the 10y cask strength. If you dilute the cask strength with water you will directly see that it is of superior quality.

More start than the "normal" 10 year old, a classic

Phenolisch, heavy smoke, sea air, smoked ham, neat vanilla, incredibly sweet, American oak behind, iodine, overwhelming, crushing, incredibly intense, full, dense, despite the high alcohol content no alcohol, after some time comes ripe banana and cinnamon, a Laphroaig as you wish him.

Very nice CS. We really have an outstanding balance of alcohol. Generous peat, defined aromas. Really in the top of these Laphroaig CS.

A great peated Islay malt bottled at cask strength, bearing an age statement, and even reasonably priced ($55 American, where I am)!  How could you go wrong?  I wish there were more bottlings like this, from other distillers...  How about an Ardmore 10 at cask strength?

A peat monster!

I am trying this release for the third time. During this time, I managed to try many different Laphroaig releases, but this was not lost among them. Quite the contrary - it’s always nice to come back to him, this is one of the best whisky in terms of price / quality that I drank in the last two years. Peter Domanski's contribution to IX. tasting the Peat Brotherhood. There is no doubt that this whisky belongs to the absolute peak, but also won our show tasting. I like more whisky styles, I like to look for fine nuances and discover few well-known brands, I enjoy fruity and malt, but then come to Laphroaig's tasting and everything is inverted. During our tour last week at Laphroaig, our guide informed us that this is an uncoloured whisky.

The nose, like any Laphroaig, is medicine, but for this level of alcohol it is very restrained and neat, a sheer pleasure. in taste iodine, algae, medicine, the aftertaste is pleasant and enveloping. Gorgeous malt requiring attention and no rush

Pure Laphroaig, like all CS I've tasted, a mirror of the essence of Laphroaig, beautiful
