[r3], [r8], [r9], [r11], [r18], [r19]. Несколько отзывов отдельно отмечают очень тёмный цвет напитка: [r7] («one of the blackest drams I've ever had»), [r9] («exceptionally dark brown color… almost reminiscent of cola»), [r12] («mahogany»). О балансе и характере: [r1] говорит о «majestic balance of dried fruit sweetness» и долгом тёплом послевкусии; [r8] — о «depth and complexity» и долгом финише с кожей; [r9] — о «full and long finish». Часть отзывов отмечает интенсивность и «экстремальность»: [r3] («impressive dram, but also very intense»), [r7] («quite an extreme beast»).
Несколько отзывов сравнивают этот релиз с другими бочками Glendronach 1993: [r2] называет его темнее и «treaclier», чем cask 23 и 38, и «a bit more easy-going» чем cask 33; [r10] — «almost the same class as Abbey #33», но менее интенсивным; [r11] выстраивает порядок #475 (90), #38 (91), #657 (92). Таким образом, в самих текстах видна общая линия на тёмный, насыщенный шерри-профиль с сухофруктами, кожей и шоколадом, но с разными мнениями об интенсивности, дубе и влиянии воды.

My favorite casks from 1993 and a distillate in the range of 19Y-21Y.. Probably the best a good Glendronach cask can offer.. Majestic balance of dried fruit sweetness and great stickiness on the tongue. A wonderful color and this warmth after swallowing that spreads evenly and for a very long time..
Wow, this is marvellous stuff. Darker and treaclier than cask 23 (Whiskybase) and 38 (Germany) and a bit more easy-going than cask 33 (Abbey). It can actually compete with the latter, which is definitely a compliment.

One of the blackest drams I've ever had, you gotta like the stone-y and peppery kick on the palate but boy, what a palate ! Tremendous experience, quite an extreme beast once it crosses your lips. But I might have wanted a more expressive nose actually.

The aroma reveals rich notes of raisins, leather, red fruits, tobacco, and chocolate—classic hallmarks of a Glendronach whisky, offering depth and complexity right from the start. |

On the palate, it evokes the feeling of an old cellar, with layers of leather and dark chocolate. The sweetness of raisins adds a touch of richness, beautifully balanced by the earthy tones. |

The finish is long, with a luxurious leatheriness that lingers, leaving a truly magnificent and lasting impression. |
#90Club An exceptionally dark brown color. Almost reminiscent of cola in hue. A rich, oily texture in the glass.

Aroma of very strong black tea, but with red fruit thrown in. On the second nose, a pinch of spice. A hint of colorful pepper. On the third nose, even sweeter, milk chocolate emerges. On the fifth, hazelnuts and nougat emerged. |

Dark chocolate. Black coffee. Cocoa. Oak. Despite the high alcohol content, the alcohol is well-hidden. On the second sip, a bit of spice appears. Ginger. On the third sip, a heavily charred barrel emerges. Charred, even. |

Rich and powerful. Dried fruit. Raisins. Dried plums. Oak. Cocoa. Black coffee without sugar. Dark chocolate. Even a slight char from a heavily charred barrel. Dark grapes in dark chocolate. Espresso. Full and long finish. Very long, even. |
It has almost the same class as Abbey # 33. Finer, rounder and fruity, but not so intense and full. A top sherry whisky! Water is rather counterproductive.

Color: deep color Nose: intense aroma, sherry, sweetness, candied orange peel, rum raisin, nut, the nose is fantastic. Palate: very sweet, long finish, mouthcoating, slight burn, intense, slightly earthy, very slight oak bitterness, orange. Don't use too much water. Optimal at just under 50%. Comparing Casks #475, #38 and #657 from 1993, I get the following order: #475 (90 P), #38 (91 P) and #657 (92 P).
TASTING NOTE LMDW Color : mahogany. Nose: firm, solar. Beeswax, candied apricots, toasted walnuts and chocolate make up a classic Glendronach nose. Then, it shows in a more grassy and earthy (liquorice, light peat). Again, the Glendronach style is fully restored. Later, notes of precious wood, black fruits (blackcurrant, blackberry) and incense. Palate: both firm and unctuous. Original tart notes of lime rival intensity with dried fruits (dates, nuts). A real bath of youth for the taste buds. Particularly dynamic with sherry then herbs (hay, alfalfa) and finally malted barley. Spices (ginger, cinnamon) transcend the finish. Final: long, it is part of the continuity of the mouth. Suddenly, red fruits (strawberry, currant) invade the palate. As it goes, it gives the sensation of chewing a stick of liquorice. The retroolfaction is tertiary (ceps, lichen) and the empty glass is a subtle mixture of malted barley, curry and fig.
Serge from Whiskyfun says: Glendronach 21 yo 1993/2014 (56.4%, OB, for LMdW, oloroso, cask #475, 627 bottles) Colour: mahogany. Nose: chocolate, tamarind, strawberry jam, prunes, triple-sec, raisins, cask strength cognac, tar, liquorice, Spanish ham, pipe tobacco… I don’t think you could find heavier whisky, and yet there’s a lightness to this. With water: the oak comes out. Pencil shavings and all that. Mouth (neat): spectacularly liqueury, prune-y, chocolaty, orange-y, raisiny… It’s sweeter than what the nose suggested, but it is high-impact oloroso-ed malt whisky. A bit rough, perhaps? With water: lovely lovely, but once again, the oak feels. Wouldn’t that be sherry-treated rejuvenated oak? Finish: long, oaky, leafy, jammy, chocolaty. Comments: very good no doubt, but I’m not a total fan, as water kind of deconstructs it. You feel the layers. SGP:552 - 84 points.
93 points. Topwisky! All flavors are very nice in balance. Sample of Oogadal.
N: Lime jelly and quince jam, haha, what a start. Having just tried the 2002 Pedro Ximinez cask #1500 WB, its clear what 10 more years and a different sherry influence make. Here there’s much more tension between spirit and cask whilst the sugars are leaning towards a denser treacle, toffee and molasses path as opposed that fruity and floral - which needless to say is neither better or worse. There are earthy, decomposing woody notes but they are buried under thick layers of dense sugars. Vanillas, tomato skins, mineral notes, honey comb, hard toffee...., are all bound by the slow ageing complexities of oak. Its begging to be drunk so lets! T: A spicy and fruity intensity coming over in waves as the spirit and wood oils engage in a complex and awkward dance. This does get spicy & peppery - the wood, well its dominant and very oaky dark. F: Aniseed/fennel freshness comes as a cooling relief from the large mouthful. Bitter oak oils and burned vanillas reside. C: Not a bad whisky by any stretch but for me, this ones been over egged. Scores a B
LMDW Notice: Which of the malted barley or sherry takes over? This is the question posed by this Glendronach jointly selected by The Nectar of The Daily Drams and The House of Whisky. To scramble the tracks, a peat not necessarily so light, comes to invite the debates. And if this contest ended on a perfect equality as the two actors compete of presence? In any case, one thing is certain, this Glendronach proudly claims its origins. Profile: peaty and racy. Basket of red fruits (currant, black currant, blackberry). Spicy and cocoa aromas. Fresh notes of lemon. Presence of liquorice.
To much varnish for me to score higher, but still a decent dram.
Nose: Powerful and sweet plum, raisin too, cinnamon, pronounced touch of coconut, cooked apricots, chocolate, melasse and brown sugar, one side earthy Palate: acidic entry, syrupy texture, not bad Coconut, plum, cinnamon, date, coating! Fig, slight touch of liquorice? The final: is intense we find the coconut that follows us since the beginning, fig and plum is sweet and deep. 91/100

nose: it sends: wood, varnish, black fruits, candied on fig, grape, blackcurrant, cherry cooked in kirch brandy, a little spicy on powdered cinnamon, overcooked caramel where the sweet and toasted edge, a little zan, sweet dark chocolate like on an old rum with black vanilla, paf! mouth: spicy heat on the palate, spicy on black pepper, sticky zan again, caramel and baked vanilla, a little coffee extract, strong woody flavor, the macerated fruit, boiled, on sherry with a hint of bitterness at this moment with a little acidity of a citrus fruit, quickly taken up by the oak, the toasted almond shell, the wax, the old glue and a little lichen dust, dried mushrooms, hay now, dusty grasses, chipping their dried pistils; woody, caramelized, toasted and chocolatey return final: the astringent side stands out; then gives way to cocoa, sweet caramel, zan, pomace, the scents are tenacious, on soggy wood, on black sherry, almost sticky with esters encrusted in the glass monolithic but powerful and long finish.
