tried this one during a five decades tasting in the distillery , and had to buy a bottle immediatly, great stuff, nice old school sherry for some maybe too much , but if I reference my friend hs305 this one at least doesnt come from the devil himself ;) great sherry whisky , best out of the tasting we had with murray , in which was featured 1966(cask 4198),1977(cask 7292),1980(cask 1414) ,1990 (93 points)

Needs some time in the Glass, very heavy, reminds me of Kavalan. Lots of Sherry, dark fruit, leather, tobacco. Very good and very tasty

Glenfarlcas 1990 Family Cask. 28 years, first fill Oloroso Sherry Butt, cask strength 57.1% and a color to kneel down. Alone the data suggest a whisky of the exraclass. For me as a lover of these whiskys an absolute treat. The combination of all these parameters suggests something very special. And the expectations are not disappointed. Once again the guys from Glenfarclas have done an excellent job here. For me personally an absolute top whisky, the 1989 from the Winter Release 2017 in nothing, but nothing at all. The almost 5% more alcohol make it even more "interesting" in a way. Face of the issue price of about 250 euros an absolute and unconditional buy recommendation and well-earned 94 points from me :)

[November, 2018] While obviously no one goes for the 4th fill releases a lot of members like this one - because it is so dark? So far I did not experience that the colour of a dram means anything to its quality... ...and this is the typical one-dimensional sherry monster that all lovers of that genre adore but (please forgive me) this is not a whisky at all. It completely lacks any whisky aroma or flavour that are all buried under tons of sherry. Nonetheless, very quaffable (but it could be any distillery, this is whateverism)...

Нос	91	The colour is old oak and the nose offers a massive sherry profile that buries almost everything else under its bold aromas. A typical "sherry monster" but is this a malt, too? Not sure, but nevertheless I like it... The cask was made of European oak so this sherry is mainly herbal-spicy driven without any single off-note (not a single sulphur atom, hooray!) - but it could be any whisky and I doubt that anyone is capable of identifying Glenfarclas in this nose...
Вкус	91	The taste is completely sherry-dominated with the malty flavours playing a minor role only (if any at all). It is not really layered because the massive sherry kills all lighter impressions - but if the sherry is that clean and lusty it is a pleasure anyhow. Again I doubt anyone can detect any Glenfarclas flavour in this "highproof sherry" drink but it is very quaffable (if you like sherry), for sure...
Финиш	90	The initial mouthfeel is warming and coating with significant bitter-drying moments from the heavy tannins (what else, given this colour?). It is still okayish but not the most pleasant mouthfeel to my taste buds. The finish is very long and gets more spicier and - of course - bitter-drying towards the end (the tannins demand their toll). Water turns the dram smoother but more drying, too (what happens very often with heavily sherried whiskies). I like it better when neat.

Quite spectacular, punchy, complex, easy to enjoy bottling. Still slightly overrated. Both modern and kind of classical at the same time which could Justify high notes. Some false, sour notes slightly decrease final note though.

Thanks for the hs305 sample. I find this bottling fantastic, very old-school, albeit a little dry and bitter. Adding water raises this whisky by at least two points, revealing its full, complex flavor profile. The overall profile is herbal, and the eucalyptus note clearly identifies it as a Glenfarclas. A perfect whisky for refills and long-lasting enjoyment.

Нос	92	The body is very dense, almost closed and compact at the beginning. The aromas are decidedly dry, without being overly bitter. They lean towards mahogany, dark leather, and the eucalyptus note that I often find in Glenfarclas. It's reminiscent of dark chocolate with 80-90% cocoa content. Water with fruit, more plums and raisins, a little bit of soil.
Вкус	93	92.5 On the palate, an intense start of dark, old sherry aromas, such as Paxarette, tobacco, and then a salty component of oak barrel-aged soy sauce. Add water for sweetness, then cherries, more plums, followed by herbal candies, sage, and myrrh. Tobacco and black tea in forest honey. Fantastically intense, without any tartaric acidity or clumsiness.
Финиш	93	92.5 The mouthfeel is dry and astringent, very old, slightly woody. With water, it becomes perfectly creamy, waxy, and dense. The finish is very long and wonderfully intense with water. A great whisky to finish with, because after this sip, few other whisky aromas will be able to compete.
