Gate number 23 of my Tastillery advent calendar. Very pleasant and smooth smoke. Not a stinker. Very complex for its price. Needs attention. Nice harmony that I did not expect before.

Color: dark rose gold. Since the whisky is not colored, I assume a certain proportion of sherry casks. Overall a good smoky Islaymalt for the price, not very complex. Would estimate it to be 5 to 7 years. The taste profile is reminiscent of a Caol Ila

An easy-to-drink whisky for Islay friends. The smoke / sweetness / nut / maritime mix is interesting. The 43% are in the mouth except for the briefly flashing wateriness. I give the Sea Shepherd 85 points.

You can do that for the price called up. Fresh nose, cold ash, with a hint of tangerine. Less fruity on the palate. A little metallic, of course. The alcohol is hardly noticeable, which is also a shortcoming at the same time. The whisky is already too thin for me in the aroma load to celebrate it. Cold cigarette ash paired with citrus fruits, especially oranges / mandarins, a pleasantly subtle sweetness to it - and that's it. The finish is almost non-existent, but with bem € 35 malt it doesn't have to be. In short, you get what you pay for, and that suits me so far. Others would call it daily dram ...

Weird circumstances brought me a bottle of Sea Shepherd, an Islay whisky with no age statement and 43 vol.%. Nobody seems to know which distillery made this. I don't care either. The color is dark amber, no artificial coloring. Sláinte. Nose: This is definitely an Islay whisky: The wild, rough sea fills my nose. Someone starts a weird barbecue, freshly cut bacon and raw pasta are on a nearby table. Currants and some caramel can be found in the background. Taste: Softer than I had imagined, this whisky offers sweet (but salty) smoke and more of the currants. The second sip brings vanilla pudding with cool whip, also some milk chocolate. Finish: I taste vanilla now, but the mouth-watering finish dissolves rather fast.

Нос 82 Peat and malt sweetness, slightly gummy behind the malt. In the course of salty with slight hints of ham. Nice nose.

Финиш 78 For me, oak wort, smoke and salt combine to form light coffee notes. Overall medium finish.

This one is a no-brainer if you like your whisky like a summer barbecue and at a reasonable price. At 37 € this is a catch. Spicy barbecue sweetness. Glad I tried it.

Нос 85 Nicely oily against the glass for its probably rather low age and 43 % ABV. Smoked Spices; peppers, dried tomato, a good sweet barbecue rub. Something slightly metallic and a salty sea breeze. Satisfying.
Вкус 86 Sweet. Red berries, banana, oranges and a bit of salt. Peaty but not overwhelming. Not as much smoke on the palate as was to be expected from the nose. Caramel and spices. Nice.
Финиш 84 Short to medium, which is a bit shorter than I expected. Oak wood, sweetness and spices, a hint of banana. Good.

In the blind tasting, I guessed it was a Bunna Staoisha. It shows its strengths in the taste. Overall, unfortunately, not completely convincing due to flaws in the nose.

Нос 78 Unmistakably Islay. Phenolic-sweet ash smoke. Smoked Bacon. mineral. Salty. earthy. Slight off note of rubber and paint. Some citrus. A musty note is noticeable.
Вкус 73 Immediately banana! Then the phenol smoke. banana stays! Sweet. Salty. Something gummy again. Then juice orange and citrus. Slightly metallic. Next very cute.

Wonderful whisky. Despite NAS and no indication of a still, this product is worth the price. If you are looking for a nice round whisky to enter the world of Islay whiskys, this is the place for you.

Нос 85 I find it surprisingly good in the nosing. A lot of ham smoke, pear, salt, a little sweetness, a lot of Caol Ila and a little Talisker. Alcohol doesn't squeeze.
Вкус 84 More sweetness, more breadth than expected, smoke in the finish, salt again and a slight bitterness.
Финиш 83 Rather short finish.

Nose: Sweet, vanilla, peanut butter, smoke, maritime, a little lemon, light mango note, malt, oak ••• Taste: Sweet, mineral, smoke, vanilla, peanut, oak, malt, a hint of lemon ••• Finish: Short to medium-long, sweet mineral malt notes with smoke remain. ••• Conclusion: The nose is pleasant and flattering with sweet vanilla, peanut butter and campfire smoke. Maritime notes, a little lemon and a light mango note then come. Malt and oak are in the background. Creamy. The taste starts with sweet mineral notes. The smoke is clearly noticeable. Vanilla and peanut come later. Oak, malt and lemon complete the finish. A simple and probably quite young smoker that, in my opinion, comes from the Caol Ila distillery. Not really complex and the finish is gone relatively quickly. But definitely drinkable. I can't find any off notes. ••• 82-83

Нос 86 Definitely smells stronger than it is. Coal ash maritime, that must be a caol ila. Campfire, cold smoke but also sweet caramel notes are very well balanced
