So i hear this is not a typical Arran. - Im not a typical Arran drinker either and dont really know its characteristics. Im more into Glenrothes, Linkwood, Glen Ord, Ardmore etc. Here is my humble review on this amazing sherried Arran. EDITED 2025-07-18 on anothet bottle, from 92p to 86 so 89 was the middle score :)

Dirty sherry tones, malty, figs, pears, cotton candy, sweet full caramels. This is insanely sherried. Wow.

Dry mouthfeel at first, heavy full bodied sherry, dried fruits, sugar sweet, very oily and super intense sherry. Some fudge in the background. Just wow. You dont need more than 5 years on the cask with this kind of impact.

Some oaky notes, alot of sherry, more cotton candy as on the nose, red grapes, dried fruits and some chocolate on the background.

A great sherry bomb! Intense sherry and slightly tart wood make this blindsample a taste experience. A very tasty drop. If I had to give a tip, I would tap on the Allardice or the Fairy Flag.

Color: the color is really a beautiful mahogany. Nose: immediately after pouring a lot of alcohol. So take your time. And then they come, the classic pronounced PX notes. A wonderful sweet, this time plum jam. In addition directly chocolate, dark, strong chocolate. And green pepper. And then a slight oak note and something leathery. A first sip. There stands at Palate: unctuous. Translated, that means unctuous. But what does that mean? that there is something in the mouth wide, that you almost rub it? That something goes away? or what? And now, after the first sip, I know it. the mouth is filled - not alcohol. But from the flavors. Chocolate, a lot of raisins, a lot of sweetness with cherries cooked in, plus a woodiness (not yet predominantly, but rather complementary). And yes, I have again my strong dark Swiss cocoa note, the ones I like so much at Kirsch Gateau. It remains a very gentle bitterness, but it remains something that you really want to chew. Something that has been lost.

Pleasant malt

Of course, there is not much left of the Arran. It has the typical notes of a sherry bomb. So red fruits, chocolate, nuts, etc. And he does that amazingly well. Actually I'm not a fan of such young sherry bombs. But he looks older than he actually is. Blind, I would have estimated him any case a couple of years older. Probably because he got not only sherry but also oak. That just makes it more interesting. Of course I do not know what it cost. But, if they are like that, I also let young sherry bombs fall.

WOW. What a board. What is possible in 5 years of barrel aging! Certainly by far the best around 5 years I've ever had. After 5 years there isn't much left of the Arran, incredibly sweet, a real PX sherry bomb that really deserves the name. I hope that you will get more of this barrel in the future, older second fill or something. Climbs over 90 for me.

Certainly not a typical Arran, but that was a great barrel!

The type of maturation has deeply influenced this single malt from the Isle of Arran. A full-bodied, elegant and rich dram with a classic and delicate sherry-derived flavour profile. Although only five years old, this dram shows a constantly evolving balance of richness and fruitiness. Another big hit for the sherry aficionados. https://www.facebook.com/whisky.connaisseur/

Great barrel, surely one of the best young whisky under 10 years of age that I have been able to enjoy lately. Creamy milk chocolate on the nose, a good load of ripe plums, oranges and raisins. Brandy notes, almost reminiscent of old Armagnacs and that with only 5 years of maturation. Leather. Vanilla, honey and caramel.

At first you notice the 58.5% in the mouth. Concentrated aroma concentration. Sweet and sour blackberries. Walnut and honey. Christmas spices, speculoos.

Leathery but overall very balanced show the flavors in the finish and, as I said, actually surprisingly ripe. For then 65 € ne absolute grenade. 89+ points
