Отдельно один из отзывов упоминает награду World Whiskies Awards 2016 как «World's Best Single Pot Still», а ещё один отзыв приводит официальные дегустационные заметки производителя.

Sweeter than I tend to prefer, but it’s well composed and it works well. The casks are doing a lot of the work here. Nicely accessible without being flabby or boring. I haven’t actually tried the other Spot whiskies. I’m particularly curious about Blue and Gold Spot, and how they present at full strength. Not curious enough to pay the going rate though.
A bit more unusual compared to the otherwise straightforward Pot Still Whiskeys. 82/100

Empty Glass of Red Wine Most of us know the Irish pot still Green Spot (as well as the Yellow Spot), but now Green Spot released a whiskey that was finished on wine casks from the Château Léoville Barton. This is a wine domain in Bordeaux in the village Saint-Julien. The Léoville Barton wines are dominated by the cabernet grape. I wonder what that will do to this pot still whiskey. The nose is dry and buttery at the same time. Weird, but pleasant enough. Sweet grain cookies go hand in hand with crème brûlée, a hint of baby breath (not an offnote!) and a touch of tannins. Smells a bit like an empty glass of red wine the next day. The palate is nicely balanced between sweet and, well, winey. There is a bitter touch of the cask which works to the whiskey’s advantage in this case. All sweetness of caramel now. The second sip adds a nice dose of cooked fruit. Think strawberry and peach, but also some squashed banana. The finish is medium long on the same. The first sip did not rock my boat, but it grew on me. Nice balance for sure. Between 50 and 60 EUR.

Buy at any time !!! An Irishman falling in love. The price varies greatly depending on the dealer. The finish is exactly to my taste and the malt is in tune. The wine fits perfectly here and the overall picture fits.

Ripe/brown bananas, red apples, ripe pears, wine/sherry. Just wonderful and very fruity. Later comes vanilla and caramel. As the caramel gets more pronounced, the fruits fade away. |

Very fruity and an explosion of flavour. The wine is very clear. Notes of banana, wine, vanilla, caramel. The whiskey is full bodied, sweet and round, but a bit young (the alcohol stand out, and it's only 46%). This whiskey tastes a lot like a sherry matured one. |

Dry red wine, red grapes, sweetness. The finish is long lasting, but not very pronounced or complex. It's a lot like just red wine. |
Once again a nice bottling from the house of ''Midleton''. In my opinion, not quite on par with the delicate ''Yellow Spot'', since the Bordeaux casks with their tannins slow down the drinkability a bit at one point or another, but still an expressive and beautifully complex pot still whiskey that lovers of this style can appreciate definitely should have tried.

I like it, find it milder with a bit of water, it takes the edge off a bit. But really a nice whiskey.

I would not have thought of an Irish Pot Still blind - the palate will then promote the typical taste, rounded off by the Nachreifung in Bordeaux barrel to light. Comparisons with the brothers Green Spot and Yellow Spot are prohibited. The Green Spot Château Léoville Barton stands independently alongside the other bottlings for Mitchell & Son and can hold its own.

The spicy and leathery notes typical of Irish Pot Still are available, but they only want to be found behind the curtain of Bordeaux wine. Once you have captured the Pot Still character with your nose, the aromas combine with the most magnificent and discernible notes of green apple alongside milk chocolate and toffee. |

Strong in the beginning with strong influence from the sherry and Bordeauxfass. The ripening takes away a little the spiciness and oiliness, makes it more gentle and fruity, but not milder. The proportion of unmalted barley still shows on the tongue - simply unmistakable. Oak comes over time and the chocolate from the nose shows up again. |

Great whiskey with an outstanding price / performance ratio.

I think the nose is great. Here I also notice more the sherry cask and less the wine cask. The taste switches and from here the whiskey seems a bit too artificial. Not bad, but since I'm not too keen on aging in wine casks, this one doesn't get high marks from me either. Still interesting.

Oh! It smells good and is very present in the nose right from the start. Nice sweet sherry flavors and spicy wood. I like the raspberry-strawberry mousse, as do the ginger biscuits. Pears, honey and some vanilla. Responds very well to hand warmth |

[April, 2018] I had this dram during a FoSM club tasting. The colour is old gold and the texture shows small tears with medium fast legs. The nose offers a sour-sweet and somewhat peppery profile that leaves no lasting impression. No flaws but nothing remarkable either. It arrives warming and peppery in the mouth with some drying moments. The taste is sweet and (just a little) winey without flaws or highlights. The finish is short and unremarkable, too (except for the minor dryness at the end). Water just flattens the dram. This is a dram I will not remember in two hours from now...

Bordeaux red wine and Bordeaux made into icing sugar, caramel crème Brulé, Chardonnay, green apples and pears, bananas, digestive biscuits, and vanilla cream. This is Bordeaux (leading) + Green Spot (as support), with a bit more presence and a bit thicker mouth feel. If you like Bordeaux and Green Spot, this is the whiskey for you (which is to say, for me). It doesn't have the complexity and richness of Yellow Spot or Blue Spot, but that's not necessarily a bad thing: it highlights the Bordeaux character, and, because of that, I am quite fond of it.
Overall okay whiskey for money, but for me nothing too exciting

It offers a smooth drink for its price, a tasteful pot still. Complex enough for entry level. The French oak in the wine barrel is particularly noticeable. It is not a whiskey for advanced drinkers, but it can be drunk casually. Price performance: Good Would I buy it again?: No, I don't think so.

Banana bread, cinnamon, walnuts, banana, lots of spices, a volatile alcoholic flavor on the nose. Red apple, tart edge. Light black pepper. Banana especially popped at the beginning then subsided. Over time, vanilla and a raw distillate-like side like a light grape eau de vie in the back. A tasteful, elegant but full nose. Light coconut. |

It's quite pungent here. There's coconut in the back, lots of spice in the front, grey black pepper. Cinnamon is definitely there. Medium-short length. A bit bitter. |
N: Blind tasting no 2. Some sherry here for sure, a little rubbery and toasted too, some ash or charred wood or all of the above. Very Auchentoshan, so close to the distillery profile. Creamy butterscotch, plastic wrappers and clay biscuits also noteworthy descriptors. T: Ok, it has a softer arrival than I had imagined. Quite rich, a little peppery and some burnt rubbery wood & polystyrene. F: Clay putty - from Irish pot still, is this Irish? Finishes on a light, bitter-sour with dry clay and sherry but with a short bitter conclusion. Definitely looking Irish. C: Good stuff on first impressions but one that may become a little grating? Finish is the best, most curious part. So, it's revealed, an Irish whiskey with 7-10 years in bourbon with a Bordeaux finish of 1-2 years. Next up No.3: WB Scores a C+
Medium gold pour. Nose is on the light side with cereal grains, some cream/butter, alcohol esters, and a touch of red berries. Mouth easy and non-offensive, doesn't take much of a position. Light cereal grains, light grass, some sweeter red berries. Alcohol all along the palate. Similar to regular Green Spot of course, but a tad sweeter and less grainy. Good!

It's Green Spot Irish single pot still whiskey which was initially matured as the traditional green spot, and was then finished for 12-24 months in French in ex-Bordeaux red wine casks. This is the first edition in the 'Wine Geese' series, followed by Green Spot Chateau Montelena released in 2017, both of which feature whiskey finished in casks from wineries run by Irish winemakers around the world.

This malt really picked me up. He wraps you in a warm blanket and hands you mulled wine and Stollen. Fruity on the nose, with the typical hints of red wine. Very round, very pleasant. Marzipan and vanilla are added. In the taste then to the sweet fruit more Christmassy spices. Full and aromatic, gorgeous! The finish is more characterized by tannic spiciness and bitterness, but pleasant. The fruit is fading, and is quite short overall. It's definitely on the wish list.

It smells great, it's a shame that what it offers in the scent it can't fulfill in the taste. The aroma is full, similar to old brandy. The taste is not bad but it is a bit shallow. Fruity. And he can't decide whether it will be heavy or fresh.
Producer's Tasting Notes: Nose:It is the contribution of the French oak which drives the initial aroma adding some crisp woodland notes to the spicy Single Pot Still character. The wine seasoning brings a delicate touch of floral perfume and a hint of ripe berries such as raspberries and strawberries, these are in addition to the orchard fruits typical of Green Spot. Taste: The familiar mouth coating effect is a very satisfying balance of oak and spices. Some vanilla sweetness works in harmony with the dry wine influence, while the fresh orchard fruits and French oak combine effortlessly with barley grains to complete the complexity. Finish: The rich French oak character is slow to fade leaving the wine and spices, of France and Ireland, with the last word.
A nice variation of the classic Green Spot, reasonnabily priced. Tasted at Whiskey Live Paris 2015.
N: Millet grain sweetness and apple-oaked vanillas, with a softer edge to the standard [NAS] Green Spot WB. T: Lots of power on the palate and building,….. just manages to stay in control of itself. Sugars hide some astringency F: A good waxy finish with a generous helping of single-grain vanillas C: Reasonably priced, reasonable malt. Scores a C+

if you like irish whiskey, try it- very sweet and malty (typical pot still), the wine finish is well integrated and brings berry and fruits to it. Finish is medium long. To me the best of the Spot Whiskeys, far better than the usual Green Spot I kinda liked it, but I love stronger ditillery characteristics and more dominant wine influence in malts. So this is an easy dram to start an evening with. 85P
Lovely nosing whiskey, but just a little too sweet for me. If you are into super sweet bottles (like say Nector d'Or), than this will be right in your wheelhouse. A real dessert dram. Improves a bit with a few drops of water and time in the glass. A well crafted whiskey and good at what it does. However, for me it's almost sickly sweet and hard to have more than one in a night.
N- Butter, nuts, berries and citrus dominant, plenty of penetrating mustard to clean the nasal. Fume of farm, subtle honey and vanilla, dressed with uplifting resinous aroma from the sherry cask, whiff of off track wood shave. Smells what it should be. P- Mineral sweet, soda of berries and fruits. Rich mouthfeel with fine married of various oaks. Nutty, roasted sunflower seed and creamy. F- Medium, sherry dry, spicy and pleasantly spiky coating that lasts for long time. — at The Whiskey Bar, Kuala Lumpur.

Having been a little disappointed at first, lacking the crisp, light-fruited character of the Standard Green Spot, I find the whiskey to be always better over time. The finish is well integrated, the taste is tasty, but the typical Pot Still flavors are somewhat in the background. nac
