This kind of profile is not really my cup of coffee PS: Tried the one with light gold color - the copper color on the photo is really strange as it can't just be the lighting - Springbank produced batches with identical labels but either light yellow or dark mahogany but that was ages ago

Blended malt may be an interesting alternative in times of increasingly expensive single barrel bottlings. On the other hand, they are whiskeys about which we actually know nothing at all: no age, no distillery, no region. After all, we know here that it matured in sherry casks. But what does that mean? And is it really enough for a whiskey to simply taste good? glen-efze.de

Conclusions. Angular whiskey. The spirits here are young and not well-hewn. The taste, although not completely balanced, I liked along with the aftertaste more than the aroma. It is richer and develops more interestingly with the suppression of organic sulfur, and is generally brighter. But I must say that in sherry whiskey I personally prefer completely different colors. Score 83/84

Diluted to about 48 to 50%. Convinces me less than the regular version. Sprig and the alcohol is always present. Everything points to refill sherry casks. As others have noted, the color of the whiskey is significantly lighter than the photos (golden-bronze).

Вкус	79	Slightly sharp, hot start. bubbly. Pepper. orange, caramel. Nuts. Spices. Malt. Dry sour mouthfeel.
Финиш	78	Spices. Nuts. Wood. Dry. The alcohol note is still present here. Not too long.

Don't know what to do with the picture provided. Surely nice, but WAY darker than the one I tried recently, Same cask strength so I reckon there haven't been different batches?! Anyhow most of us thought of an ex-bourbon cask maturation to give you the whole picture. A bit wild - being rather young in our opinion - but with some water it's quite acceptable. The non cask strength version is darker as some owners noticed. Overall ok for the price, but no must-have in my opinion.

(88) P: Oily and velvety smooth. Quite sweet. Dark fruits, sherry. Raisins. Dark chocolate and at the end maltiness. (88) F: Long lingering dry sweetness. Great. (86) 88 / 88 / 86 = 87.333 --> 87 pts / 100

I tried the regular Berry Bros & Rudd Sherry Cask Matured some weeks ago and got this one on sale. It is less diluted with water, at 55.8% abv. The sherry notes are intense. Even the grapes are tastable.

Нос	86	Sherry, grapes, dried sweet fruit and raisins in chocolate. No alcohol is noticeable, even though this whisky is close to being cask strength and without an age statement.
Вкус	87	Sweety and fruity until the sherry takes over. Again the grapes are noticeable. Mouthwatering and warming. Dark chocolate with chilli.
Финиш	85	Again intense sherry. Medium long finish. The oak is intense but it does not taste like very old and musty cask.

A blend that comes from the woody rather than the fruity side. The alcohol is not particularly well integrated and so it needs some time before it is worth dealing with. Notes of polish and a little musty sherry try to pretend to age, which it doesn't have. Not my case, but who likes it gets a cheap drop.

Вкус	83	Only briefly at the beginning is some creamy sweetness, then spicy sherry wood tones come with power and a lot of alcoholic strength. You need a lot of water to dampen the effect. You can't get it properly harmonized.

Smells like a fruit brandy at first. Would have rather grabbed the whiskey from the nose to Germany. Unfortunately, I still like the note.

Unequal Struggle Renowned bottler Berry Bros & Rudd released this very affordable (around 50 EUR) blended malt in Germany in 2021 at what they themselves describe as 'Exclusive higher strength'. They don't reveal which malts were used, but we do know that no grain was used. The whisky smells young and well sherried (doh!) on nutmeg, cloves, preserved raisins, Café Noir biscuits and dried apricot. Some peach and nougat, a handful of hazelnuts and a non-intrusive hint of freshly struck matches in the background. Burnt butter and a touch of tomato soup. Not bad, but far from great. It is creamy, but at the same time quite sharp and alcoholic on the tongue. Spicy from the spices. A bit dirty. Sure, the dark and candied fruit returns, but it has to fight hard against the spiciness - and it is an unequal battle. Spices 1-0 fruit. Midpalate it even becomes a bit sour and astringent. It quickly goes in the wrong direction. The finish is medium long, sweet and sour and spicy. It dies a little salty. It doesn't surprise me that this bottle was launched in Germany. Those whisky lovers are known to like such a dirty profile. Not my thing. Thx, Dieter!

Glendronach64 can only agree, but come to a completely different result: Fortunately, this whiskey has hardly any sulfur, a clean and very fruity malt. The price-performance ratio is terrific. If you are into sherry and higher ABV, you have to strike here.

Nose: The first thing I smell is malt, sweet malt. Caramel sweets - homemade - are immediately added. I would have expected more sherry aromas, but this whiskey is not overloaded with sherry. I like it. A subtle spice spreads in the nose. Pimento? Some white pepper? But then the spice is gone again and makes room for even more sweetness. fruit sweetness. Pickled Raisins. Apples with icing, as you know them from the fair. The alcohol is wonderfully integrated. There! A subtle, non-disturbing note of sulphur. Oak notes push their way between the other aromas and soon disappear again. Mouth: Fruit sweetness, immediately and everywhere. My tongue feels like maple syrup is running over it. There comes the spice and makes its way, followed by a tingle of alcohol on the tongue. Oak spice and caramel alternate. This whiskey is easy to drink. Now the sweetness decreases more and more. Now a slight bitterness spreads on the palate, although I'm rather sensitive there. Departure and conclusion: Medium finish. The whiskey changes inexorably, but pleasantly. From the initial sweetness to spicy and fresh notes, I get to that slightly bitter note on the palate. A good blended malt with a very good PLV. Makes you want another glass. Or two, or three...

From a blind tasting. Initially tipped to be a rum cask, but in the taste it looks like a sherry cask-aged whiskey with cask strength. The comparatively light color is a mystery to me. I'm guessing a cognac barrel because for me that bridges the gap between lighter rum flavors and heavier sherry flavors. Resolution: Blend of sherry malts. Interesting that such a light whiskey can be such an unusual sherrybome. I'm not the biggest fan of it, give it 84 points. Despite the dessert flavors, the taste is very youthful with little variety/dynamism, water helps a little.

Вкус	87	Very sweet on entry before the sherry casks take over with more spice. Creamy, even if the alcohol - appropriate to the 55.8% - tingles. Oak spice with bittersweet notes. Slightly sulphurized raisins. With a little water, the tingling can be tamed immediately. Then even sweeter in the direction of red gummy bears.
Финиш	83	Sounds delicious and without any off-notes, but the intensity flattens out quickly here. As expected for a cheap NAS.

Нос	87	Fruity-sour nose. Dry wood. The fruit is abundant with cherry, raisins, plums, pear, and orange peel. A slight mustiness with a sulfur note in the background. The alcohol is slightly tingling. Anise. Later, vanilla sugar on nougat chocolate.
Вкус	88	A strong, sparkling start with lots of dark red fruit, which is quickly overshadowed by strong, spicy wood. Hay. Herbs. Nougat. Subtly sulfurous. Completely sweet with vanilla.
Финиш	84	Long. Intense. Drying with a high wood content. Dark red fruit with a strong cherry flavor, alongside tart currant. A blend of herbs (primarily anise) and a subtle hint of sulfur.

Since the 44.2% vol. Smelled and tasted delicious of sulfur and was just a little weak, I expected a little more from this bottling, but was disappointed. This one is pretty straight forward and not very complex.

Вкус	70	At the beginning a little sulfur, which (too) quickly gives way to a fruitiness, which in turn quickly turns into dark chocolate. Unfortunately there are too few nuances. With a little water it becomes fruity, but stays at its level.
Финиш	70	In the medium-long finish, the dark chocolate gives way and makes room for creamy chocolate pudding on the palate.
