Smell: medium bouquet, nutty, vanilla, forest honey, well-integrated wood notes, dusty, cinnamon, vegetable bouillon, orange zest, dried fruits, Taste: medium body, again nutty, marzipan, honey, well integrated but present wood, pleasant bitter note in the medium aftertaste Colour: ochre, medium water edge, clear Conclusion: A calm blend, finely crafted and calm - but you shouldn't have an "allergy" to grain notes...
Another blind sample by Laird Blonag. Unfortunately, I didn't come up with a blend, although it was so obvious. If in doubt, I would have settled on a very nice, mildly soft but intense bourbon, but it was clear that it wasn't a single cask. The aromas are simple, but beautifully structured and intense, like a nice dessert whisky. I'm guessing 43 percent, a NAS that comes from a batch of different barrels because it's all so smooth and soft with no rough edges. But just delicious and beautiful. I would like a bottle of that to just sip on.

blind sample: A very harmonious, very round, but nevertheless very intense structure. The sweetness gets more and more intense over time. American oak, lots of vanilla sweetness, marzipan, powdered sugar, rum sauce. Fruitier with water, raisins, plums, strawberry sauce. Either wet bourbon casks with a finish were involved or this is very nice bourbon. |

blind sample: Lots of oak sweetness and again simple flavors but very nicely structured and with a very nice mouthfeel. Really great, a little too intense sweetness and again I have to think of a very tasty dessert whiskey or a very round bourbon. There is also a woody, dark, slightly spicy sweetness from marzipan and that's why I'm guessing a very good, mild bourbon at 43 percent. |

1965 hogshead, 1973 hogshead, 1992 sherry butt... Reads great on paper and certainly nice for people who want to drink "something old" without breaking the bank, but even for the rather low price I like it a few whiskeys that I would prefer to this one.

Old and dusty, but also with fruity acidity – apricots? – and a slight brandy association as well as marzipan notes (probably due to the grain). Plus some leather and licorice from the sherry casks. Tasty, but also very mild, almost fleeting. |

The younger proportions are noticeable with a slight sharpness, despite only being 43 percent. Sweet-sour, leathery, spicy... A somewhat random blend on the palate: pleasant, but rather thin and without any outstanding characteristics. |

Very smooth and round nose. Without corners and edges but still quite intense in terms of aromas. Wood, dusty like an old musty attic, honey and vanilla transport a lot of sweetness. This will also get more intense over time. There are also spices and herbs like marzipan and cinnamon. Fruity notes accompany this rather dark-looking nose. Raisins, plums, peaches, apricots and oranges. A nice fruity mix. Tobacco and leather complement this old-looking character. Chocolate, brown cane sugar and cherry pralines are added in the background. |

Slightly tingling mouthfeel. Seems a bit thin at first sip, but all the flavors are conveyed very well. Oak spice, sweetness, peach, amarena cherry ice cream, apricots bring fruity elements. In addition again marzipan and cinnamon. All soft and creamy. With honey, vanilla, nuts and chocolate. |

Short but intensely sweet and spicy finish, soft, wood, slightly bitter with peach and cocoa. |
Unfortunately, I can't support the hymns of praise in the base and also on Youtube. I didn't like the grain notes at the beginning. In general, I would have wished for a little more aromas - especially from the old barrels that were rumored to be there. This strengthens my assumption that the two old casks no longer had the required 40% alcohol content and that the other casks were used in the blend to "boost" to over 40%. And since alcohol is also an aroma and flavor carrier, it is possible that the intensity of the aroma and its transport have suffered as a result. The taste is almost sweet, but the other flavors remain in the background. I also had no rich sherry notes or raisins and the like, which would otherwise be typical of well-aged sherry malts. I would also be interested to know how much grain there was in this mixture in the end. Of course I'll give him one or two more chances to change my mind - maybe the aromas will change with more air in the bottle. As of today, I'm rather disappointed, it dazzles more than it shines.

Immediately after pouring, the grain content in the blend is clearly evident in the smell. Very malty, slightly chemical and lots of honey. Overall, the bouquet is very gentle and shy. Is it due to the low 43%, but the whiskey is a little stingy with its aromatic pleasures. After around ten to 15 minutes, the still very honey-intensive nose is joined by plenty of vanilla and almond cream or marzipan. As a fruity part, puree of very ripe yellow apples, pears and greengage can be recognized. With about 25 to 30 minutes of rest, milk chocolate with a hint of cinnamon and nutmeg in the background lays itself on top as a layer that brings the other aromas together in a homogeneous olfactory play. The fruit notes change over time from the initially lighter ones more towards sour cherries, strawberries and raspberries. The grain at the beginning is no longer noticeable - neither is the alcohol. |

The drop starts velvety soft, very creamy and at the same time with a very clear sweetness that is reminiscent of blossom honey. Behind it is a decent piece of cake with a topping of white chocolate. The fruit doesn't break down well, it's more of a creamy potpourri of bright fruits like apples and pears with some strawberries and cherries. You can also taste the ground almonds to a paste. But in addition to the very intense sweetness, the other flavors remain more in the background for me. There is no sign of the alcohol at all. Maybe a little more percentage would have helped to push the flavors more. |

Towards the finish, some oak shows you through a slight spiciness, but very subtle for the sometimes very long barrel storage. Furthermore, the sweet honey is on the palate. Overall he remains medium short with medium. |

Nose: initially like a bourbon with the typical sweetness and glue notes, followed by something resinous and light pine forest, slightly acidic, and at the end some caramelized wood. Taste: almost watery in the mouth, a very sweet base note of honey, but otherwise musty, mushroomy, woodsy, not pleasant. Conclusion: The nose is still somewhat interesting, but the taste is very difficult.
N: Starts sweet w honey (medium dark ;)) w an old wood burning candles and acetone coulour .... Later opens to more fruits apricot...slight Maggi - rather bullion touch ....pipe tobacco w a slight cherry/vanilla twist...dust..wet stone.... Fresh grain ...no muld in this old mill :) great 90 T: light and super oily for 43%...a bit more alcohol would still be good.. besides that Sticks to the old house impression sadly a bit less intense than in the nose ...add a lot of honey more fruits like red Apple..stronger on the (cherry) pipe tobacco note...boullion 89 T/f: no big transition..easy..Subtile sherry and oak notes mixed w. Tobacco stay quite a while (medium) 87 O wow so easy to quaff and smell.. oldscool balanced sherry...misses a bit in complexity and power to gain 90 but in terms of balance, harmony and integration of alcohol its perfect. And you get a lot of old bottle notes that you usually would, easily, pay double the price for to experience. easy to give a 88.5-- 89 here for me. One that will complement enthusiasts as well as newbies...we had some good blends this year..but this in a blind? I would have said to be an older version of propperly aged sherry cask Highlands or Speyside rather lowland light bottled at too low strength.. note to myself I have to nose it in the 1920s blender glass...

I don't like it that much. The nose is still very pleasant. Sweet and fruity. The taste then goes steeply downhill with very dominant notes of wet cardboard. The finish is extremely grainy and bitter. It feels like they just threw together whatever old barrels were lying around. I can't understand the reviews at all.

Noticeable graining. But look for noticeable signs of age. Sherry too, but lighter and thinner than expected and surprisingly alcoholic. A good blend that naturally has the problem of being somewhat undefined in its aromas. But apart from the age history of the content, it has nothing extraordinary to offer in terms of taste.
No extreme whiskey, no warrior - but a softie who wants to surprise you. 84 points for the first time. But I still have 2 cl for the next try - thanks to Axel! Somehow reminds me of the old Dimple 12 bottlings from the 1970s (with the front label "This Whiskey is 12 years old") - only that the Dimple keeps the sweetness much longer, does not release any apple cider vinegar vapors and is less bitter on the finish is...

This Blended Scotch doesn't come right out the door. Even before the delicate sherry notes and hints of honey reach the nose, apple cider vinegar fumes have pushed their way - not pungent, no, also delicate, maybe even excitingly different, but very surprising. Or am I wrong? No, the same with every new nose. Ok, let's try. |

A very pleasant, comforting sweetness covers the tongue and expands, not intrusive ("Here I am!"), but pleasant; the initially rather watery consistency turns into an oily one. Still no tingling, no sharpness, nothing - velvety soft. Now he also wants to surprise in the mouth and show me very quickly how irritating "bitter" can taste. Again, not intrusive or even out of place, but gentle. |

A really special blend that conveys really nice old aromas and, despite the low drinking strength, a mouth-filling aroma. But it's still a bit over the top for my taste and doesn't convince me 100%. This is probably also the reason for the humane price. But for about €70, it's a really nice purchase, which I probably wouldn't feel like doing much too often.

An absolute PLV winner. But regardless of the unbelievable starting price, the blend is just really good. 86 points.
For today's time, this is a sensational price-performance ratio. A very nice blend, which has a set and mature taste. It's great that whiskeys like this still exist today.

My first impression: a very excellent blend, the old barrels are particularly effective on the nose - but you should (like me) be a nose fetishist: depending on the glass, it loses its nose after 30-45 minutes, which is due to the low alto -barrel share may lie. But he's there to drink anyway, so Slàinte Mhath! Definitely a must have for the price! Thank you Andre for the tip and your YouTube video

I can't understand the ratings beyond 85. Tastes like old cardboard with Schuhwixxe in the aftertaste. Alcohol is well integrated so far, but unfortunately sour and dull in taste. If I compare a Glen Garioch 15 or MC Overaged, it's like the district league versus the Bundesliga.

Very fruity with lots of juicy mirabelle plums and apricot liqueur, then a hint of the old: stencil paper from my school years in the 1970s, Grandma's nut brittle chocolates and a trace of the old, paper-lined wooden kitchen drawers that were washed out by that very same woman who cleared rubble (which is more of a positive association). All in all interesting, slightly spicy and tightly woven. |

A great aroma, an excellent taste and a nice finish. This could have been a very special bottling if the strength had been at 46% vol. Unfortunately, the mouthfeel is a bit watery. Whining at a very high level. Definitely try it if you get the chance. Thanks André for the tip!
Freshly opened, it was first in the nose reserved. But taste and finish have made amends. This somewhat "old style" blend needs time and heating in the glass. Exact note comes when he has breathed something.

This is a bottling that I can happily hold in the glass for a while, if I only go by my nose, to sniff it for a while. If I were to put the glass aside for a moment and forget about it, that would actually not be a problem in this case and not even a shame; unfortunately! After the beautiful smell experience, it really goes downhill. Once you have the first sip in your mouth, the joy that has arisen is quickly dampened. On the palate (slightly creepy), the bottling reminds me of many historical miniatures of 1960s blends that were probably not well sealed and exposed to temperature fluctuations and sunlight for decades. Almost tragic, after the great start. I am so glad that I did not make a blind purchase here.

Zitat Andy Hart: "The oldest cask in the blend is a hogshead of 1965 blended whisky, in this 1965 the recipe was Clynelish, Macduff, Teaninich, Dailuaine and Invergordon. The 1973 hogshead was a blended Scotch which we did not know the recipe of. The 1992 sherry butt was a blend that had a few different whiskies in, which we didn't know either. We added another blend to the butt that had Dumbarton, Aberfeldy, Ardmore, Miltonduff, Tobermory and Port Dundas. Then we added one sherry butt of younger blended scotch whisky which we do not know the recipe for. Once the blend was vatted together we filled it into sherry butts and let them mature for a couple of months.
I'm not a big fan of noticeable grain notes, which this blend can't hide due to the pleasant sherry cask influence. Overall, recommended as easy drinking if you don't have an aversion to grain
