Another example of the light refill bourbon maturations that mature too short in barrels that are not particularly fresh. The 11 years were not enough to give the whisky a certain degree of maturity. It remains with typical pear-accentuated light fruitiness, the alcohol is 48% vol. present in the aroma and also the taste and finish are alcoholic with light fruit and light syrup. There are no wood notes, even the vanilla is barely pronounced. This whisky could not only be much younger than 11 years in terms of color. You don't need it.

A prime example of how refill barrels (my guess mostly 2nd and 3d fill) can work well with a distillery that produces a lighter style of whisky. Leave the talking to the spirit and just have the casks file off the rough edges so to speak.

Нос 87 Things start of soft, sweet and clean. Classic refill bourbon casks with vanilla and honey notes, but then there’s this herbaceous note and things become really interesting from there on. It’s got this delicate soapy, lavender like touch to it, with hints of greenhouse flowers like geraniums. It evolves further when white and stone fruits emerge – melon, apricot and white grape, which make themselves comfortable as the nose finally settles down. Gentle, almost delicate even, pleasant, elegant and layered as well.
Вкус 85 the ABV makes a stand, quite abruptly at first. This is more ‘spirity’ in every sense of the word as it has both a clear prickly alcohol touch to it, yet also the flavour and character of the new make shine through. Again the fruity elements from melons, apricot and grapes, teaming up with those herbal/floral notes developing into a dense creamy, cheese-like note, ending with something reminiscent of old oak. This translates into the mouthfeel as well, as it’s medium full and dry – almost paper like, evolving into a dry and woody sensation.

blind tasting the notes are hard to beat especially on the nose the finish is bad one can describe the malt as pleasing; but it's not a malt for me

-Blind tasting- I like it a lot, but I find it difficult to classify and classify it. But I'll try it anyway: a Scotch single malt from the ex-bourbon cask, because of its heavy attack on the tongue I'd guess 57-58%. Region could be Highlands, but somehow I got into a distillery that I can't get off of now. So I type Islay and: Bruichladdich. Due to the very dry start, one could conclude that it is old, but I don't trust the roast, especially given the finish, which is just about medium-long. So 8-10 years. (After resolution: unbelievable that he "only" has 48%.)

Нос 85 Appears light, airy and fresh at the beginning. Fresh red apples, blood orange, grapefruit. Freshly washed laundry drying on a line in the wind. Over time, spices such as thyme, rosemary and chervil appear, but also cinnamon and coriander, which give the nose a sweet and spicy touch. Some alcohol flashes through here and there, but that's not really disturbing.
Вкус 85 Enormously powerful acceleration, very dry and with a lot of wood. Sweetish-tart fruits that could also be found in the nose: blood orange and grapefruit. In addition, ginger biscuits, cinnamon rolls, a slight hint of herbs, lots of spices. Vanilla crescent and honey, fudge, toffee, malt. Towards the end there are maritime notes and it transports me to the beach of a Scottish island...
Финиш 84 Still of medium length and very dry, some dry wood, tart herbs and tart fruit.

Нос 85 Poached pears and a bit of clove. Crème fresh. Marshmallow thickness. Charred apples. Cream soda. Vegetable oil. Brioche, a bit of brie. Oak as it opens. Melon and margarita Apple wine gums. Vanilla extract. A bit of bramble. With water - no real change.
Вкус 81 Malty, pears, some good body. Tweedy. Not much change with water.

Нос 79 Brrr. Dusty, alcoholic, hay. At first it has almost nothing that I associate with pleasant whisky aromas. After a while: not so dusty anymore, plus some citrus and pear. Really needs time. Then it becomes reasonably pleasant; Nevertheless, it remains alcoholic and almost spritty.
Вкус 78 Slightly sweet, light vanilla, a little pear and sour citrus, peppery and hot on the tongue, without connecting it with oak spice. A little more pleasant and balanced with water.
Финиш 76 Short to medium, without anything new. Strong white pepper on the tongue, with a tendency towards bitterness in the finish.

Нос 88 Wonderfully delicately put together. Fine balsamic lemon tones, malt, grass, cut flowers, mint. With water: mint, jasmine, malt, lemon balm. Really good!
Вкус 89 Wonderful oily attack, huge citrus tones, oak, floral reflexes, slightly herbaceous and some white pepper. With water: fantastic citrus tones, malt, subtle notes of fully ripe early apples and Provence melon. Really very good and incredibly elegant

Нос 84 fruity with notes of floury apples and slightly unripe pears, followed by vanilla and burnt caramel, slight bitterness from the wood
Вкус 87 Immediately quite sweet with caramel and fudge, yet very strong from the alcohol. Once the burn from the alcohol has passed, a pleasantly sweet warmth remains, with fruity, sour, sweet apples. I had an espresso in between - a fantastic combination with the whisky!

Mannochmore is another distillery that you hardly notice, although it produces huge amounts of alcohol. There are Mannochmores in the Flora & Fauna series and the occasional independent bottler. This is a white wine light bottling in Parcel No. 5 of The Single Malts of Scotland by Elixir Distillers. The color suggests a not too active bourbon barrel - or fear ... www.glen-efze.de
